Ava already knew the voice belonged to Sam, she was relieved that he was here at her most desperate time. She looked at him with gratitude in her eyes.
Ethan and his man also looked at the source of the voice and they froze for a second there. Ethan stepped forward and said, "This is a private matter, please don't interfere."
"I could see well whether this is private or not. I've called the police and they will be here soon. So I suggest if you don't want to rot in prison let her go." Sam waved his phone and said solemnly.
Actually, Sam was lying he just got out of his car and saw the scene, he didn't have time to call the police. Seeing Ava was taken away by a few big men, he instantly decided to stop them. However, he was wise and knew how to stay calm in a situation like that so came up with this idea and was threatening them.
"Sam!" Ava shouted, hearing he had already called the police she let out a sigh of relief.
Sam gave a reassuring look, he would never let these people take her away, even if he had to fight to the death!
"Mr. Smith, what do we do?" Ethan's men were a bit scared hearing the police were coming.
Ethan's gray eyes were filled with anger. The plan was going well until someone came to ruin it. Damn it! He clenched his teeth and looked at Sam furiously as if he was going to kill him, but he was reluctant to let go of this chance to take away Ava.
"Listen whoever you are, this is a hospital premise. You should know this place is highly monitored, even if you are able to take her away before the police come, through the surveillance they will be able to catch you easily. If you still want to take her away then go ahead." Sam said in a very relaxed tone and looking at Ethan calmly.
Ethan hesitated for a second but seeing the man in front of him so relaxed he believed him and decided not to take any chance. "Let her go."
The three men let go of her and got in the car with Ethan and rushed out of the parking lot in a hurry. Ethan's fierce eyes were looking out of the window, he didn't have much time. Oliver had already handed all the evidence of their illegal work to the China Securities Regulatory Commission. Soon they will start an investigation and once they do his father and he will be put behind the bar. So he had no other choice but to kidnap Ava and make a deal with Oliver. It's not about the land anymore instead it has become a matter of their survival. He missed such a good opportunity today. As soon as Ava tells Oliver about this incident he will put a bodyguard on her and he will not get another chance.
Ava felt all her energy was drained from her body, she sat down on the ground. She was almost kidnaped today, thank god Sam came to save her at the right time.
"Ava, are you alright? Did they hurt you?" Sam hurriedly came to Ava and asked with concern.
Ava shook her head with a stiff smile then asked, "But what were you doing here at this hour?" Although Ava was grateful that Sam was here but she was also confused about why did he come to the hospital.
"I wanted to see you," Sam said quietly and helped Ava up from the ground.
Ava was so scared that when he stood up her body was shaking uncontrollably. "Sam, thank you for saving me. If you didn't come at the right time they would have taken me away."
"Silly girl, it's OK. Everything is fine now, they are gone. I'll take you home. Let's go!" Sam was worried those people will come back so he hurriedly took Ava to his car and drove away from there.
"Sam, did you really call the police?" Ava asked when she calmed down. The window was down and the wind was blowing past her, she immediately felt better.
"No, I said that to scare them," Sam said with a charming smile.
"Wow, you're so smart."
By the time they reached Ava's home Ava was completely calm. She felt the nightmare has passed but she still stood in front of the door for a while. Sam held her hand and reassured her, "don't worry, I'm here."
Ava took a deep breath and nodded her head. She swiped her card and entered her home and the homey environment immediately made her feel safe.
Lily was cooking in the kitchen and Sarah was helping her, James was reading newspapers on the living room couch. He heard the front door open, he raised his head to see if it was Ava. However, he was a bit surprised to see a man behind Ava. The man looked very familiar, he searched for his memory and suddenly recognized Sam.
"Samuel, is that you?" James stood up and walked toward Sam and asked cautiously.
"Hello, uncle. Yes, it's me. I am surprised you recognize me after all these years." Samuel said politely with a gentle smile.
"How can I forget our little Sam? I still remember that you were very good at playing chess when you were a child and often would come to play with me. How about staying here for dinner today and we play a few rounds like old times." James said with a warm smile.
"Well, sure uncle. Thank you." Sam said happily.
"OK, come and have a seat the dinner will be ready soon then we will play." James loved to play chess so he proposed clapping Sam on the shoulder.
"Where is auntie?" Sam asked.
"In the kitchen."
"OK, I'll go and say hello to her first."
Ava led Sam to the kitchen and saw Sarah was cutting vegetables and Lily was cooking.
"Hello, Auntie." Sam greeted Lilly warmly with a smile.
Lily heard an unfamiliar male voice she turned and saw a young man with a handsome face and warm smile looking at her. She was a bit puzzled because she didn't recognize Sam.
Seeing Lily's confused face, Ava quickly said with a smile, "Mom, this is Sam."
"Sam? Oh My God, Sam is that really you? You have grown up so much and become so handsome." Lily quickly washed her hand and came closer to Sam. Her eyes were full of surprise.
"Thank you, auntie," Sam said with a smile. He was very happy being able to see Ava's parents again.
