Leaving everything behind

Ava took the car keys and rushed to 520 Haibin road.

In the villa, Mrs. Lee was very worried. She woke up early in the morning and made breakfast for Ava but when Ava didn't come down till half-past seven, She decided to call her but when she went upstairs to the bedroom she found it was empty, she thought of calling Ava when she saw Ava's phone was in the bedroom on charge. Mrs. Lee didn't know what to do but she didn't dare to let Oliver know. She decided to wait for her till midday if Ava still didn't contact her she would have to call Oliver and let him know.

When Ava's car stopped in front of the Villa, Mrs. Lee heard the engine sound, she immediately rushed out of the villa and ran toward Ava. She was relieved to see Ava was safe.

"Miss Green, where did you go? I was so worried about you." Mrs. Lee took Ava's hand and said happily.

Ava smiled calmly and said, "Mrs. Lee, I'm fine. Last night I got a call from the hospital for an emergency operation, so I had to go. I left my phone at home, I came back to pick it up."

Mrs. Lee nodded in understanding, suddenly her eyes fell on Ava's neck. Mrs. Lee stared at the mark a bit confused, isn't that a love bites? But Mr. Knight was not here then how...?

"Miss Green, what happened to your neck?" Mrs. Lee asked anxiously.

Ava knew she would have to answer that question to everyone today so she already thought of an answer. Ava smiled and said softly, "I got another heatstroke, I fell and twisted my neck."

Mrs. Lee took a sigh of relief and said with a smile, "Miss Green, you should be more careful from now on. If you get hurt like that people might misunderstand you."

"I will Mrs. Lee. Thank you."

Ava went upstairs to her room and looked around, she saw Oliver's shirt the one she wore last night, was still on the bed. She went to the bed picked it up and smelled it she could still faintly smell Oliver in it. Ava stared at the distance and her mind was in a daze. She came here to end everything with Oliver but suddenly she was reluctant to let him go. Only Sam knew what happened last night what if she hid it from Oliver and live as nothing happened but the next second she knew she wouldn't be able to do that. She was not that kind of person, she wouldn't be able to face Oliver after what she had done.

Ava sighed and folded Oliver's shirt, she couldn't be with him but she will take this shirt with her. On a lonely night, she will wrap it around her and imagine that she is on Oliver's arm. At that thought, two drops of tears fell from her eyes.

Ava looked around the room she had been living in for more than 4 months now, this was her last time in here, she will never come back again. There are too many memories in every corner of this house. What started with hatred turned into love slowly.

Ava's Eyes fell on the violin in the crystal box. Ava stared at the violin for a while, her eyes were very warm and tender as if she was looking at Oliver. She suddenly recalled the morning she first heard Oliver playing in the greenhouse. He looked so lonely and sad that day. Would he be sad too when she was gone from his life?

Ava quietly sit down in front of her dresser and took out a paper and pen from the drawer. After finish writing on the paper, Ava took her phone and took out the sim card from inside. This phone was given to her by Oliver, it's too expensive she couldn't take it with her, so she was leaving it with the letter. Ava looked in the mirror and saw the angel pendant on her neck. 'Angel' She wasn't worthy of that anymore, she slowly took it off from her neck and put it beside the phone.

Ava came downstairs and found Mrs. Lee in the living room. She felt bitter, just last night, she told her she would celebrate her 50th birthday with Oliver next year. Who knew everything will change in just one night and she will never be able to keep her promise.

"Mrs. Lee I'm going back to work," Ava said lightly and head toward the door. She didn't want to stay here any longer she was afraid her emotion will collapse.

"OK, will you come back for dinner tonight?" Mrs. Lee asked with a kind smile.

"No, I will go back to my house," Ava said with a smile.

"OK, when CEO Knight comes back, he will pick you up from there." Mrs. Lee said.

Ava got out and before getting into her car she looked at the villa one last time and then got out of there. She left everything behind except for Oliver's shirt. He had so many shirts, he would probably never notice if one of his shirts was missing. She just wanted something that belonged to him.

On the way to work, Ava stopped at a mobile shop and bought a new phone. She put the old sim card on the phone because she didn't want to change her number, many people from work knew that number. Ava saw the bodyguards following her but she didn't say anything to them Oliver will eventually handle it.

Ava reached the hospital it was already half-past ten, she went straight to the cardiology department of the inpatient department.

"Where is director Green? Why hasn't she come yet? "

"She had scheduled operation this afternoon who will do them?"

"Yes. I tried to call her but her phone was switched off, now how we are going to explain it to the patient?"

"Should we inform the dean?"

As soon as Ava stepped out of the elevator, she heard the nurses talking about her absence. Ava listened to their conversation quietly.

"No need for that, I am here. I will do the operations?" Ava said in a low voice startling everyone.

"Director Green, where have you been? We have been trying to reach you since morning." Susan said when she saw Ava.

"I had something to do at home this morning," Ava said with a humble smile.

"We were actually lost thinking who would do the operation. Thank god you are here Director Green." A nurse said flattering Ava.

Ava thought she probably wouldn't be the director for very long, once Oliver comes back and finds the letter she left him for at the villa, everything in her life will change including work.
