Perfect Timing

"Miss Green, this is not funny." Ethan shook his head with a wry smile.

"I'm not joking with you Mr. Smith, what I said is true. Please find someone else, who can help you, I certainly can't do anything about this matter." Ava said calmly.

Ethan was silent for a long time before he finally gave up. He believed Ava, even though she could easily lie to him but for some reason looking at her sincere eyes, Ethan believed her. His mood was very complicated and broken. He was relying on Ava and now he didn't even know who could help him get out of this mess.

"Sorry Miss Green for troubling you, I won't disturb you again in the future," Ethan said politely.

"It's all right, Mr. Smith. I hope your problems get solved soon." Ava also said politely.

Ethan slowly stood up and walked out of Ava's office with a heavy heart and heavy feet.

Ava looked at Ethan's leaving back and felt really bad for him. Everything changed just in few days. Ava can still remember clearly meeting Ethan for the first time at the café, he looked so energetic and sunny. Ava annoyed him so much that day but he neither lost his patience nor his temper over her but now he looked like a lost soul. Ava sighed and got back to her work.

After work, Ava was very tired so she directly went home. She entered the house and saw Sarah was curled up on the sofa with red eyes.

Ava put down her bag, walked toward her, and asked anxiously, "Sarah, what happened to you. Why did you cry?"

"Sis, Mr. Evan has resigned from his job." Sarah saw Ava, she threw herself into her arm and started to cry again.

"What? Why?" Ava asked confused.

She knew Sam loved his job and loved these children then why would he resign all of a sudden? Did he get a better job? Even if he did he wouldn't take it, not right now. Ava knew Sam well, he was very passionate about his students and he would never leave them like this before graduation. Something must have happened.

"I don't know Ava, he wouldn't say why. Could you please call him and ask?" Sarah said to Ava earnestly. She knew Sam will listen to Ava and she might even be able to change his mind about resigning.

"OK! I'll call and ask him." Ava stood up and went back to her room to call Sam.

Samuel was reading a book at that moment at his home. He was in a relaxed mood, in fact, he was not worried about his job at all, he thought it's better to take some rest for a few days at home before start searching for another job.

Sam heard his phone ringing, he felt a bit annoyed, all day his students, colleagues, and friends have been calling him to ask about his resignation, so he thought it must be another of his student. He stood up to pick up his phone from the table but when he saw it was Ava, his heart filled with warmth. She must have heard it from Sarah. Sam quickly picked up the call.

"Sam, I heard that you have resigned from the job? Why did you do that?" Ava asked anxiously.

"Ava, I thought you would never talk to me again." Sam didn't answer Ava's question. He didn't care about the job, he was really happy that Ava called. That meant she still cared and he still has hope.

"Sam, what are you talking about, we are friends why wouldn't I talk to you?" Ava was a bit confused by Sam's relaxed tone.

"I thought you are angry with me and blamed me for what happened between us," Sam said poking the matter a little.

He won't let her forget the night they spend together, that's the only way he could change her mind and make her accept him. Looks like Oliver actually did him a favor by making him resign from the school. Now he could get her sympathy as well make things more difficult for Oliver. It's just perfect timing. Ava will soon break up with him and he will not give her any chance to go back to him or find anyone else. Whenever she will need someone she will always find Sam right beside her.

"But Sam I don't understand why would you resign from your job at this moment?" Ava asked seriously.

"Actually Ava, I didn't do it at will. The principal asked me to submit my resignation." Sam said with a calm smile.

"What? But Why?" Suddenly something occurred to Ava and she asked Sam almost shocked, "Sam did Oliver do that?"

"Yes, I think it's him. He must be very jealous of you and me" Sam said in a sad tone but his eyes were looking at the distance indifferently.

"Sam, I'm so sorry! I caused you to lose your job." Ava said guiltily and felt very bad for Sam.

"Silly girl, don't say that, it's not your fault. And it really doesn't matter? I will find another job." Sam said affectionately and the dim eyes lit up in an instant hearing her soft voice.

"Sam, don't worry. I will talk to Oliver and ask him to let you have your job back." Ava was a bit annoyed over Oliver. He was jealous of Sam and made him resign from his job what kind of power play was that. How could he compete with Sam, he was just a teacher. She needed to talk to Oliver.

"No, I don't want you to have any more contact with him. Av's, don't worry about my work. I want to rest at home for a while. I'll start looking for one after a while." Sam said almost shouting. The last thing he wanted was for Ava to beg Oliver for his job. That will give him another leverage over Ava and more power over him.

Just then, Ava vaguely heard Oliver's voice from downstairs. She was a bit confused because how can he be here? Isn't he still in the US? She must be hearing things, but Sarah suddenly knocked on the door.

"Sam, I have something to do now. I'll call you later." Ava said in a hurry and hung up the phone.

Sarah came inside and said, "Ava, Brother Oliver is here."

What? So she didn't hear wrong he is really here.
