Ava arrived on the first floor. She wanted to check on Sam. She entered Sam's ward and saw he was already awake and lying on the bed quietly. Sam didn't know which hospital he was in but now seeing Ava he realized he was in Beijing Tiantan Hospital.
"Sam, you are up," Ava said happily.
"Ava, why are you here?" Sam tried to sit up but felt his whole body was in pain.
"Don't move. I'll roll up the bed." Ava hurried to the end of the bed and changed the bed into a sitting position.
Samuel's eyes were fixed on Ava, he could see the guilt in her eyes clearly so he knew that she found out everything. He said lightly, "You know!"
Ava went to the bedside and nodded: "Yes. Don't worry the doctor said you are ok, you didn't have any internal damage but there was a slight concussion so you need to stay in the hospital for a few days for observation. Just now Oliver and Erika came to see you." Ava added the last part wondering whether it was ok to mention it.
"Erika knows too?" Samuel asked surprised.
"Yes, and she broke her friendship with me," Ava said sadly.
"Ava..." Seeing her sad face Sam felt bad for Ava but he didn't know how to comfort her. He was well aware it was because of him Erika broke the friendship with her.
Ava forced a smile and said: "Don't worry Sam, I am OK or I will be. Are you hungry? I'll buy some rice for you."
"I'm not hungry. You can go back to your work." Sam hesitated for a moment and then said, he didn't want to be a burden for her.
"Sam, please you don't have to be so polite with me, we are still friends and always will be, ok! I am sorry, it was because of me Oliver had beaten you so badly. As long as you are here in the hospital I will take care of you, that's the least I can do. As for uncle and auntie, you don't need to tell them. They are old and will be worried about you. Call them and tell them you are doing some school projects outside." Ava said thoughtfully.
"Ava, you don't have to do all this," Sam said lightly, he knew she was doing this out of guilt, but it was not her fault. However, he couldn't tell her that.
"Listen to me, don't argue, call them and I will get some lunch for you," Ava said with a smile and stood up quickly.
Ava bought a bento from the hospital lounge for Sam and herself and spent her lunch hour in Sam's ward having lunch, talking, and laughing. Sam was her best friend once and she decided to cherish that relation, she and Oliver are already over so she didn't need to restrain herself anymore.
After lunch Ava stayed for a while in Sam's ward then remembered she had to pay a visit to Michael Jones today, she looked at her watch and saw it was almost 1.00 Am. She looked at Sam and said "Sam, I have to go back to work now, you have some rest. I will come back to check on you later."
"It's OK. Don't worry about me. You go ahead and get back to work."
"OK. You go back to sleep." Ava said with a warm smile.
Looking at her smile, Sam's mood got better. He thought although Oliver had beaten him half dead but the way Ava was worried about him and looking after him, it was worth it.
Historian.
Michael has been resting well at home and taking good care of his body after the operation, so his body has recovered very well and now his life got back to normal. He was reading the newspaper at home when he saw Liam walked in, he raised one of his eyebrows and asked, "Aren't you supposed to be at the company at this hour?"
"Yes, but Ava is coming today so I came back." Liam doesn't know why, he just wanted to see Ava. Maybe this woman has really moved his cold heart.
"Liam, are you in love with her?" He asked casually as he played with a bunch of small leaves and red sandalwood beads in his hand.
"Dad, what are you talking about? Don't you know me yet?" Liam chuckled. He thought he hid his feelings for Ava quite well but looks like his father has seen through him.
When he first met Ava he liked her simple appearance but he convinced himself that Ava was just a pawn to him. However, since the accident, he couldn't get her out of his mind, and now he knew he has already fallen for the woman. He didn't know why he liked her so much, maybe it's her kindness or her pure and innocent heart or probably her fierce temperament. In short in his eyes, she was different from any other ordinary woman. She was special.
"You don't think I am a fool, do you?" Michael looked at his son with sharp eyes and ask seriously.
"Dad, don't worry. Everything is in my plan." Liam said with a light smile.
Liam knew his father had too much expectation for him and he couldn't fail his mission. He must finish his father's unfinished business, the future of the Historian depends on him but he is thinking about all the things he should not. He is getting distracted, which was scaring him too.
