Ella was busy arranging flowers when her phone rang and looking at the screen a smile showed up on her face.
"Hello, my favorite beautiful auntie, how are you?" Liam knew since he was a child what makes Ella happy, so he would always flatter her whenever he would talk to her.
Ella put down the flower arrangement and with a happy smile she said, " Liam, you kid dare to flirt with your old aunt, want to get beaten?"
"What are you talking auntie, who says you are old. Haven't you see yourself in the mirror? My beautiful Aunt can still make the models in Oliver's company sweat." Liam keeps flattering Ella.
"Enough already! Now, tell me what can I do for you?" Ella laughed then asked seriously. She knew his nephew too well to know all this flattering must be because he needed something.
"Auntie, what are you talking about?" Liam said embarrassed getting caught like that.
"Kid, you think I don't know you?" Ella stood up and went upstairs to her bedroom, looks like she was going out.
"Auntie you really know me well, yes... I actually need your help with something. Can we meet this afternoon?"
"Sure, where are you now?" Ella readily agreed. After all, it's very rare for Liam to ask anything to her, so she must find out what the child needed.
"Great Auntie, I'll see you at the Starbucks on Water Street."
Ava stared at Liam speechless, she heard the whole conversation between Liam and Ella. Now she realized why Liam was called a womanizer. Of course, any woman will be flattered if she was sweet-talked like that. She sighed and thought indeed he knew how to get to a women's heart.
"Wow Liam, you do know how to flatter women." Ava smiled sarcastically.
"Well, not my fault, don't you women like sweet talk?" Liam stood up and walked toward the door.
"I don't like it." Ava followed him behind.
"Don't lie, are you telling me when Oliver says something sweet to you, that doesn't make you happy?" Liam said mockingly. Every woman likes to hear sweet words from their loved ones, Liam was sure in this case Ava was the same so it was useless to deny.
Ava thought about it and realized it's true, if Oliver complimented her she would definitely be happy, even if he didn't say anything she would be happy if he was around. But now she can't have that anymore. She has lost him forever, she has stained herself. She was not worthy of him anymore. Ava can never forgive herself for what she had done to him. She has to bear the pain herself for her whole life.
Water Street, Starbucks.
Ella arrived at the café with a dignified look. Her soft hair was carefully made up in a stylish bun on her head, she wore a limited edition knee-length dress with matching shoes and a designer purse was hanging on her left hand. Her every action and every step would scream her elegance.
Ella walked into the coffee shop and looking around a soft smile showed up on her face. She hasn't been into this Starbucks for a long time. When she was dating Conner, they would often come to this place. Conner would always come ahead of time and wait for her. Ah! those days! Ella got a little nostalgic.
Ella walked forward, the café was almost empty so she easily spotted Liam but she stopped on her track seeing the woman with Liam. Ava Green! Why was Ava here with Liam? Isn't she Oliver's girlfriend, Ella felt a bit confused.
Liam saw Ella, he quickly stood up, walked toward her, and shouted in excitement, "Auntie, you are here."
Ava also stood up but she didn't move from her place. She has already met Ella a few times yet she was very nervous at that moment and the uncomfortable feeling in her heart came back.
"Liam, Hello Miss Green." Ella and Liam walked toward the table and Ella greeted Ava with a smile.
Ava noticed the way Ella addressed her and realized she wasn't pleased to see her with Liam here. She sighed in her heart and put on a polite smile and greeted her. "Hello, Mrs. Knight."
"Please have a seat, Miss Green. Why are you so nervous?" Ella stared at Ava, she could see that Ava was feeling uncomfortable being here, which made her even more curious about why she was here.
The air around them was a bit awkward, there was so much tension that to ease some of the tension Liam said enthusiastically, "Auntie, I ordered your favorite caramel macchiato and some pastries."
"Thank you so much, my child, you certainly know what makes me happy. I am glad that you called me out for coffee. Oliver doesn't even have time to show his face to me." Ella said sadly and took a sip of her coffee gracefully.
Hearing that Ava wanted to defend Oliver. He has been busy with his work at the company and before the breakup in his free time, he would accompany her. He hardly had time yet he would often mention his parents to her and tell her that he missed them. But she listened silently and reminded herself that she has broken up with him so she didn't have any right to say anything.
"He is very busy at the company Auntie, you understand how difficult it is to run a multinational company," Liam said smiling.
He praised Oliver in front of Ella because he knew every mother loves to hear good things about their son. It was a quality of Liam, he always knew what to say to whom to win their heart, especially women. Ava was the only exception he couldn't win over his words.
"You are such a good brother Liam," Ella said smiling.
"How is the pastry Auntie, I specially ordered them for you. I know you like deserts very much." Liam said thoughtfully.
"Well, it's very delicious." Ella took another sip of her coffee and said with a smile.
Ava was sitting there quietly listening to their conversation in awe. Seeing Liam so warm and considerate toward Ella she was really surprised. If she didn't know him a little and Oliver didn't warn her about him she would really think that's how Liam actually is. She was even more stunned when he praised Oliver. Oliver and Liam hated each other, so she wondered whether Liam was putting on an act or he actually cared for his Aunt.
