Oliver parked the car outside the main gate of Ava's house and was waiting for her. The dark night sky was full of stars, it looked beautiful. Oliver lowered the window and was enjoying the cold wind that was mixed with the light rose fragrance. His eyes fell on the small yard garden in front of Green Villa, where he could see the full-bloomed wild roses.
Ava opened the main gate and immediately saw Oliver's car she quietly walked toward his car lowering her head and holding a paper bag in her hand. It was very quiet outside, she could feel most of the people have already gone to bed. Ava stood beside the passenger door and lightly knocked on the window for Oliver to open it so she could give his shirt back.
Olive saw her the moment she got out of her house and his eyes were fixed on her the whole time she walked toward his car but he didn't get out he just stayed inside and watched her.
It took about five seconds for Oliver to lower the window of the passenger side, however, he lowered it just a little and it was not enough for Ava to push the shirt inside. Ava stood there a little flustered, unable to understand what Oliver was trying to do. He called her to give him his shirt back but now he wasn't even opening the window, how she was going to give it to him.
Oliver could see through Ava's thoughts so he said indifferently with a cold face, "Get in the car."
"No, I've got it for you. Open the window and take it." Ava was holding the paper bag. She was wearing a thin pajama set and the wind outside was a bit cold when was making her shiver.
"I told you to get in the car." Oliver suddenly looked at Ava with fierce eyes and locked jaw. He looked very scary in the dim light that was coming from outside.
Ava didn't want to get inside. She just wanted to give him the shirt and get back home, they had nothing to talk about. More importantly, Ava was scared that if she spends more time with him, she might show him unconsciously that she still loves him.
"Oliver, please open the window a little bit wider and take the shirt. Why do I have to get inside the car?" Ava frowned and looked at him uncomfortably.
"You want me to come out?" Oliver's voice was full of warning but there was a small smile on the corner of his lips.
Of course, Ava understood his meaning, if he got out things might get worse but his warning was actually making her a little angry now. She gritted her teeth, opened the door, and got inside. Oliver turned on the light inside the car and Ava's eyes fell on the safety token she hung on his car. Ava bit her lips and looked away, sitting in the familiar car her mood got complex.
"Here is your shirt." Ava held the paper bag toward Oliver.
However Oliver didn't take it, he stared at Ava for a while then suddenly grabbed her hand gently instead of the bag. His long fingers were holding her soft hand and his thumb was stroking on the hand lightly. Ava wanted to pull back and as soon as she tried Oliver's grip got tighter. Ava knew there was no point fighting him so she let him hold her hand. The temperature of his palm made her hand warm and she felt like crying again. Ava and Oliver stared at each other without a word.
Finally, Ava couldn't stare at his handsome face anymore, she looked away and said lightly, "What do you want Oliver, let go of me."
Oliver sneers and said coldly, "What if I don't?"
"You will only make me hate you if you force me," Ava said lowering her head afraid that her lie will be caught by his sharp eyes.
Oliver stiffened hearing the word 'force' at first, then he looked at her lowered eye and knew she said that for him to let go. He held her jaw with his free hand and forced her to look at him then said with a mocking smile, "When did you like me anyway? Wasn't it always your ex-boyfriend you were in love with?"
Ava looked at him confused because she couldn't understand what he meant by that, then she got angry and said coldly, "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Oh, you don't know! Tell me then why did you go to the school when you had a heatstroke the first time? Wasn't it to meet him? You think I don't know that?" Oliver's tone was full of jealousy and his eyes darken thinking about it.
He knows? Of course, he does, is there anything that he doesn't know? Ava grumble to herself then said lightly, "It doesn't matter anymore, does it? We've already broken up, so it's pointless to talk about it now." Ava looked at him and said without any fear.
"Yes, but that happened before our breakup so technically you betrayed me," Oliver said with a sneer.
"Fine, so what do you want to do now? Punish me for that?" Ava could feel that Oliver was getting a little angry, but she didn't know what else she could do.
"No, it's just good to see what kind of woman you are," Oliver said sharply.
"Yes, I'm a characterless woman. You're right. But Oliver, you are not perfect either, you cannot spend a whole day with another woman, get kissed by them then come home and tell me that you love me, you know? That not fair." Ava said angrily and tried to take back her hand from Oliver's but he still held it tightly.
"Are you jealous?" Oliver knew who she meant but still thinking she was jealous he felt happy.
"No, actually I feel rather calm now."
They both stared at each other with a calm face for a long time because they both could feel the love and jealousy for each other but still, they would only argue and deny.
