Ava came out of the darkroom with a smile on her face, she couldn't wait to tell Oliver everything however, just after taking two steps she saw Oliver and Erika were coming toward her with a smile on their face.
"Oliver, Rika!"
"We already know. We heard it all." Oliver extended his hand and took her in his arm.
Ava looked at him surprised. "How? Do you have surveillance in that room?"
Oliver smiled but didn't say anything. He just held her tightly and thought, how simple this woman's mind was. If there was no camera why would he agree to let her see Samuel alone?
While they were talking, Erika walked into the darkroom. When she got inside the smell of blood made Erika frown, although she already saw the place through the monitor but still coming into the gloomy and dark room made her feel suffocated. Sam was still sitting in the same place lowering his head.
"Sam, are you ok?" Erika walked in front of Sam and sat down on the seat opposite him.
Samuel raised his head and forced a smile. He was embarrassed that Erika was seeing him like this and he felt an unknown emotion that made him choked. He still said: "I... I'm fine."
Looking at how he was still trying to be brave Erika's eyes turned red and hot tears filled her eyes: "You know, you don't have to be so brave all the time."
"Silly girl, don't cry I am really ok." Sam smiled gently but his whole body was in pain so his mouth twitched a little.
Erika looked at Sam carefully and noticed something was not right. Although his shirt was dark green but it looks like getting darker. She suddenly thought, was his body injured? Erika has seen many bloody scenes in her play, so looking at Sam's shirt she was sure his shirt was soaking in blood.
"Sam, are you hurt?" Erika asked worriedly.
"No, I am not." Sam subconsciously touched the wound on his shoulder and felt his wound was bleeding making his shirt wet. The shirt was loose so when he was talking to Ava the blood was still not visible but now he realized it was visible and he assumed Erika must have noticed it that's why she was asking.
Obviously, Erika didn't believe him, she pursed her lips and pocked on his shoulder where he just touched a second ago.
"Hiss!" Sam couldn't bear the pain and took a deep breath.
Erika immediately got up from the chair and went to his side. She started to pull his shirt to check how badly he was hurt, "Sam, let me see, where are you hurt?"
"It's nothing." Sam pulled his shirt back and said calmly.
"Sam please, let me see." Erika still tried to open the button of his shirt to check the wound.
However, Sam stubbornly held the shirt and refused to let her see. He looked at Erika and said helplessly, "Erika please, let go. I'm really OK."
Erika was a bit upset that Sam wouldn't let her check his wound so she said dejectedly, "Then, you will come with me to the hospital."
"Ok." Sam agreed. He needed to go to the hospital anyway so it didn't matter if Erika accompanied him.
In the car.
Oliver had already left with Ava, the place was too dark for a woman and he didn't want Ava to stay there for long. Oliver was driving through the mountain road and soon got out of the deep forest.
"Oliver, why do you have such kind of place in the deep forest?" Ava asked, trembling slightly. When she and Erika drove here they were very anxious, so she didn't really notice how scary the place was but now that she was relaxed she looked around and realized that this was not some ordinary place.
"This is Knight Family's property, normally the people rebel against the Knight or do something harmful to us, are imprisoned here for life. You could say it is a private prison. When I was ten years old, my grandfather brought me here for the first time." Oliver said softly with a calm face.
Ava shivered, hearing that. She couldn't imagine a ten years old child coming into such a dark place. She was scared to ask any more questions about this place. The Knight family is too powerful in this city it's probably normal to have such a place, otherwise, why would everyone be so afraid of them and how would they become so influential in the city.
"Oliver, will you let Sam go?" Ava suddenly changed the topic and asked hesitating a little. She thought he would get angry, hearing that but when she saw his face was still gentle, she was actually surprised!
"I've already let him go," Oliver said gently, his eyes were on the road.
"When?" The surprise was very obvious in Ava's voice. She wondered when did he become so kind to Sam.
"Well, Erika probably got him out by now from there. We, Knight Family owe him a favor so I had to let him go." Oliver glanced at Ava and said seriously.
"Favor?" Ava asked puzzled.
"Yes. When Rika was five years old, she got lost accidentally. Samuel accompanied her to wait by the side of the road until her parents arrived. If Samuel was not there we could not imagine what kind of fate she would end up with. So we are thankful to him for that."
"Maybe that's why Rika likes him so much. They were bound by fate since such young age." Ava smiled knowingly.
"That's not necessarily true. Ava, can I ask you a question?" Oliver's hands on the steering wheel suddenly got tighter his heart felt a bit heavy.
Ava turned her head and looked at him with a smile, "What is it?"
"If you ever found out that I cheated you, what would you do,?" Oliver asked lightly, but he was very uncomfortable and tense.
"Oliver, are you having an affair with someone else behind my back?" Ava's eyes narrowed as she looked at him and asked, there was a slight panic in her beautiful eyes.
Oliver sighed helplessly and said, "No, I am not. It's just a question, answer me seriously."
Ava thought for a while then said, "It depends on how you cheated, I mean if it's something like a harmless lie then I will forgive you, but if you deceive me on purpose then I may not be able to forgive you."
"What if I hid something about my past?" Oliver got even more tense now. Ava's answer was confusing him more, he didn't know whether to tell her the truth or not.
"Oliver, what are you hiding from me?" Ava looked at Oliver worriedly, she didn't like where this conversation was going. She started to have an uncomfortable feeling the moment he mentioned the word 'past'.
"It's nothing silly, I was just asking." Oliver shook his head and said lightly.
All this time, Oliver has been thinking about telling Ava everything about his past but now looking at her and hearing what she had just said, Oliver decided to not tell her anything about it. Rika was right something's should be buried deep inside the heart. What's gone is gone why bother talking about it.
