Wounding each other's heart

Ava could hear the blame in his tone and her eyes turned red. She stared at Oliver and said helplessly, "Oliver, it's not like that. Green family owed him too much and by setting him free I just wanted to pay him back, that's all. It's just about paying the old debts."

"Your family owed him, why should you pay it back? This is the grudges of the previous generation which had nothing to do with you then why should you be concern about it?" Oliver said ferociously.

"Oliver, everyone has a past and their own secret, you have yours and I have mine. Since these are all in the past then why should we waste our time and energy on something so unimportant?" Ava tried to reason with him.

Oliver let out a mocking laugh and said with a livid face, "Ava, tell me the truth, you don't love me at all, do you? You are with me just because I forced you, am I right?" Oliver was afraid that Ava's next answer would confirm Sam's words.

Ava frowned and looked at him a little disappointed, "Oliver, I don't understand where is this coming from? Why would you say that? I'm really disappointed in you today. You don't believe me at all!"

"You hid such a huge thing from me, how do you expect me to believe you?" Oliver said coldly.

"I said, everyone, has a past. Since you care about my past so much, then why don't you tell me about yours too. Tell me about your ex-girlfriend, tell me why you don't want to see the stars with me, Oliver, do you think I'm an idiot? I just don't want to argue with you so please stop right there!" Ava didn't care anymore she was tired of trying to reason with him but as arrogant as he was he wouldn't even listen to her.

"Enough! How dare you ask me about my Ex-girlfriend, you think you deserve to know about her?" Oliver said sharply and his eyes penetrated Ava's.

Ava's heart tightened hearing Oliver, for a moment she couldn't utter a single word. She didn't deserve to know about his past? Why? Who was she to him then? Suddenly the man in front of her looked like the Oliver she met the first time, arrogant, ruthless, and heartless Oliver.

Oliver's words deeply wounded Ava's heart, she felt it was funny, all this time she thought Oliver loved her but his heart was still occupied by his ex-girlfriend then why should she be with him?

"Well, if that's the case then I don't see any point for us to be together anymore. Let's end it here today, let's break up. You can go back to your Ex-girlfriend and be with her" Ava breathed heavily, she was suddenly feeling very exhausted.

"Do you want to leave me so you can get back with Jacob?" Oliver didn't know what triggered his suspicion but he believed that Ava was still in love with Jacob and that thought was making him even angrier.

Ava looked at him and smiled, she didn't bother to explain anymore, she said calmly: "Yes, you are right, the person I love has always been Jacob because he never forced me. You on the other hand used all despicable methods to keep me by your side."

Ava's words were cruel and pierced Oliver's heart like a thorn, his whole body became stiff, "Well, let's part ways then, you are a pair of worn shoes anyway. I will personally send you back to Jacob to let him see how perfect his ex-girlfriend is!"

Ava closed her eye, she felt suffocated because of Oliver's cruel and mean words. Worn shoes! She hated these two words. Oliver has been humiliating her since the beginning and yet she chose to see his good sides all the time but today she couldn't do it anymore. She was really tired. She loved him with all her heart but she refused to tell him that, refuse to let go of the last bit of her dignity.

Ava turned and walked away the moment her tears broke down, she would never let him see her weakness. Oliver looked at her leaving back but did not go after her. Instead, he turned and got into his car and drove past her.

Ava never thought that they would break up like this one day, she had no money, no purse no phone with her and she was in the secluded part of the city. She walked aimlessly in the street of the west suburb with teary eyes. Under the hot sun, she was dizzy and with unsteady steps, she kept walking forward until her eyes started to get heavy then she fell. However, before she passed out she saw a black sports car coming toward her.
