Quit the job!

Ava called home and informed she would be staying at Oliver's. Lily was not very happy with that but Ava was not a child anymore, so she couldn't stop her to do what she wanted. Besides as James said, she shouldn't interfere in Ava's business and trust her. If being with Oliver makes her happy then that was enough for her. If one day they decided to part ways then as her family they will support her. So she decided to let it go.

Oliver's Villa.

Ava and Oliver were sitting in the living room relaxed, talking and laughing with each other. Ava's mind kept running back to the incident today. She suddenly asked Oliver worriedly, "Oliver, Ethan died like this, won't the police investigate his death?"

"Even if the police investigate the explosion, there is no way to lead it to me, so don't worry about it." Oliver smiled faintly, his tone was a bit arrogant. He knew she was worried about it so he said it clearly. He was not stupid, he never half-finish something. His plans are always full-proof.

"Do you handle things this way very often?" Ava frowned and asked hesitantly.

Oliver smiled and shook his head, "No."

Actually, when Oliver was growing up he had done more dangerous things than this. He lived his life constantly around guns and bullets but never really got involved in any direct action. Since he took over Knight International, Oliver has very little contact with the underworld and he doesn't control the affairs there anymore. These days Uncle Joe handles anything related to the underworld. So he didn't lie when he said this was the first time to go on a direct rescue mission.

"Oliver, thank you for saving me today." Ava thought she hasn't thanked him for today so she looked at him and said sincerely.

"No thanks. The most important thing to me is that you are here safe, by my side." Oliver looked at Ava affectionately and smiled.

Mrs. Lee came with a plate of fruit salad for them. She smiled looking at Oliver and Ava talking and laughing so lovingly. She was very happy that they finally made up.

"Have some fruit, Miss Green." Mrs. Lee said with a smile.

"Mrs. Lee, we won't be able to finish it, sit here and have some with us." Ava looked at Mrs. Lee and said with a bright smile.

"Thank you Miss Green but I can't. I'll go back to my room and watch some TV." Mrs. Lee said with a knowing smile. Of course, she wouldn't be a tube light between them.

Oliver tightly held Ava in his arm as Ava picked up a piece of apple with the fork and put it in Oliver's mouth.

Oliver ate it and said with a smile, "It's sweet."

Seeing Oliver eating so happily, Ava also felt happy and started to eat.

"Honey, I want to discuss something with you." Oliver suddenly sat up and looked at Ava with a serious face.

Looking at his deep but calm eyes, Ava realized he was serious so she put down the plate and looked at him.

"Quit the hospital job and join Knight International," Oliver said very calmly hiding all kinds of emotion in his deep eyes.

Resignation, again! Ava frowned and pursed her lips. She was at a loss, why every time something happens Oliver asks her to resign? Suddenly her mood became complicated, she dropped her eyes and said softly, "Oliver, why you keep asking me to quit my job? I love this job and I don't want to quit it."

"Well, first of all, I don't want to see you work so hard, when you are working you don't even care about your health. You get so tired all the time. Secondly, how many things happened after you joined the hospital? This time you were tricked by Ethan, next time it could be someone else. Since you are so kind-hearted and you run out to help people, I need to find a way to protect you, and the best way to do that is by keeping you by my side all the time. As long as you will be in front of me I won't let anything happen to you. I promise." Oliver said sincerely, looking deeply into Ava's eyes.

He knew Ava wouldn't give up her job that easily but he thought about it for a long time. He didn't like it when she worked so hard and after the incident that happened today, he was determined to make her quit.

"Oliver, I understand what you are trying to say, but I've spent years studying medicine. This is the field that interests me, how can I just quit and do something that I don't understand. Moreover, I studied medicine to save people and I feel proud when I can save one life. I know there is a lot of pressure at the hospital and I do get exhausted sometimes but it's worth it when I get to see the happy smile on the faces of my patient's family. Besides, I learned my lesson I won't make the same mistake again and run out if someone calls. I will take good care of myself I promise, but please don't ask me to quit." Ava said in a very soft tone and her eyes were pleading.

"But baby, why do you have to work?" Oliver said a little dejected. He knew he will never win with Ava when it comes to her job. She was very passionate about saving people. In fact, he didn't want to make her quit the job against her will, but he felt distressed, how many accidents happened since they were together, Jacob, Amelia, Kiara, Sam, and now Ethan. He wants to burn the world every time he saw her hurt or injured.

"But I don't want people to say that I'm relying on you. People will gossip less if I have my own identity."

"Who would dare to say such thing, I will cut their tongue," Oliver said fiercely.

Ava looked at him helplessly, then said in a firm tone. "Oliver, please I love this job. I promise I'll be more careful in the future. Don't make me quit."

Oliver sighed, as expected she will never give in when it was about her job. So Oliver had to give in. "Fine, but remember this is the last time if any kind of accident happens in the future you are leaving the job. And you are not allowed to run out during working hours. I will drop you and pick you up after work every day."

"I knew you are the best. I love you." Ava said coquettishly and threw herself into Oliver's arm.

Oliver looked at Ava and seeing her so happy his heart felt warm. He suddenly stood up taking Ava along with him.

"Hey, where are you taking me? I haven't finished my fruit salad yet." Ava said pouting her ruby lips.

"Fruit salad is boring. You can eat me." Oliver walked toward the second floor happily.

"Oliver, were you always this rogue, or it's something new?" Ava asked in Oliver's ear then she softly bit on his earlobe playfully.

The ear was Oliver's sensitive spot, so when he was teased by Ava, he almost lost his control. He quickened his pace and in no time they were in their bedroom on the big bed, Ava was lying and Oliver was on top of her. This little woman dared to tease him he will have to show her what's the consequence of that!

"Well, playing with the woman you love is not called playing rogue," Oliver said as he bit on Ava's neck softly.

Ava moaned and slowly the atmosphere in the bedroom became full of romance as the two body fitted together in the same passion.
