Daniel is after Oliver

Oliver was standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window looking at the people below. Uncle Joe just told him Daniel made some progress with a case and he already found out that Oliver was involved. Oliver was not surprised to hear that, the moment he heard Daniel was on the case, Oliver already knew he would dig the soil deep enough to get his name out of it, so now he was after Oliver.

"CEO Knight, Daniel wants to meet you." Uncle Joe said with a tired face. He hasn't slept all night thinking, he made some mistake while cleaning up the scene of Ethan's death. But later he found out his work was flawless, the problem was Daniel got a hand on Tony and he spilled everything out. He should have known that piece of shit would betray Oliver.

"What did he say? I mean the exact words."

"He said your good days are over and asked you to be prepared, he is coming for you."

Oliver turned and the sunlight sprinkled on his broad back. He looked at Uncle Joe indifferently and said, "Tell him, if he wants to meet me he needs to find some evidence against me first. My time is precious and I don't waste it on people like him."

"Yes. But I don't think he will give up that easily. He has been finding trouble with you since you two were at high school together. I am sure he won't be able to find anything against you but this Tony is real trouble." Uncle Joe sneered scornfully.

Oliver was aware that Daniel wouldn't let go that easily. In fact, he never held any grudges against Daniel but he would still cause trouble and find different ways to fight and compete with him. When Oliver was elected to be the Student union president Daniel caused a lot of trouble that time. He competed against Oliver so naturally, he said the election was not fair. Later Oliver skipped school and went to the US, so Daniel became the president.

The Sherman family and the Knight family were on good terms and they would never interfere in each other's business but Daniel would always find a way to provoke Oliver and make things difficult for him just like now.

Oliver walked toward his desk, sat down, and took the file in front of him into his hand. "Ask Peter Jiang to take care of Tony," Oliver said coldly and smiled lightly. Peter was Daniel's immediate superior. He has a very good relationship with Oliver, so he knew Tony wouldn't be a problem.

Ava's morning schedule was clear today so after the morning meetings and rounds, she came back to her office and sat comfortably on her chair. She was drinking some tea and studying some medical history. After a while, she got tired and decided to watch the news online.

Ava opened the news website and the explosive breaking news caught her eyes. Immediately blood drained from her face. The news says, 'Yesterday afternoon, the heir of Smith's group had a car accident in a suburb of the city. The car explosion was very fierce and it killed Mr. Ethan Smith on the spot. The smith group was already going through difficult times and the news of Ethan Smith's death caused the company to go bankrupt overnight. The police and prosecutors are fully investigating the accident. According to a prosecutor on the case, this was a homicide, not an accident.

Ava watched the news in horror and sat there in a daze for a while. Then she abruptly stood up and ran toward the nurse's station.

"Mia, come with me."

Mia, who was busy working with her head down on her table looked up and saw Ava's white face and she knew something was not right. She stood up and followed her without any question.

Ava brought Mia to the rooftop. The sun was blazing in the sky but the wind today was a little strong. Ava stood there for a while.

"Ava, what's going on? You are scaring me." Mia saw Ava didn't say anything she asked worriedly.

"Mia, you can't mention yesterday's incident to anyone. The police and prosecutors are investigating Ethan's death." Ava looked at Mia and said uncomfortably.

Mia was relieved when she heard it was about yesterday, she thought something else has happened. "Ava, don't worry, I will never mention it to anyone." She said with a kind smile assuring Ava.

Ava felt relieved but she was still worried Ethan's death will be lead to Oliver and he would be in troble. "What if someone finds out? I am really worried. It is all over the news."

"Ava, don't panic. Call CEO Knight and ask him what is going on." Mia tried to comfort Ava as she suggested.

Ava took out her phone from her pocket and called Oliver. The phone rang for a few seconds before Oliver picked it up.

"Hey baby, Miss me already!" Oliver said with a soft smile.

"Oliver, did you watch the news?" The panic was very clear in Ava's tone.

"Yes," Oliver said very calmly.

"Will it affect you?"

"Absolutely not. Haven't I already told to you that you don't have to worry about this?"

"I know ...I know, but I just couldn't help but worry when I saw the news. I don't want you to be in trouble, after all, it was my fault. If I was careful then this would not happen." Ava said guiltily.

"Baby it was not your fault. Whether you were involved or not Ethan would find trouble with me one way or another. So forget about it ok! Go back to work, I'll pick you up after work."

"OK." Ava relaxed hearing Oliver. Why was she so silly to doubt Oliver's ability? Of course, he had everything under control? He knew how to handle these matters, he was a Knight after all. One of the most powerful men in the city. Looks like she was worring for nothing.
