The Reporters

Erika's Apartment.

It's been a few days since Sam has been living with Erika. His wound has already started to heal. Erika was taking care of him as much as she could.

On that day, Sam was lying lazily on the sofa in the living room, when he got a phone call from the school principal saying he wants him back at the school. At first, Sam was surprised but then it occurred to him, Erika must have something to do with it. As Sam hung up the phone Erica entered the living room with a plate of fruit in her hand.

Sam looked at her and asked hesitantly, "Erika, the principal of the school just called and asked me to join back to the school. Did you asked him to do that?"

Erika's face turned red immediately after being caught like that. She thought she would help him to get his job back silently. She never thought Sam would find it out as soon as he got the call from the principal.

With a half-smile, she said, "Is it that obvious? I guess my acting skills are too bad."

Sam smiled and said softly, "No, your acting skills are very good. I almost believed that you had nothing to do with it. But I am a logical person, I know Oliver wouldn't do that so it has to be you. Thank you, Rika."

Erika smiled brightly and said, "No thanks, as long as you are happy, I am happy.

"Rika, you are doing so much for me, I don't know how to repay you. I don't think I am worthy of all this," Sam said softly.

"Sam, please don't ever say that. I really like you and if I can do anything for you it really makes me happy. I'll be really angry with you if you say that again." Erika warned.

"OK, don't be angry. But what about the boy who has been chasing you." Sam looked at Erika with great interest and asked with a smile. He knew Erika was in love with someone else so he didn't want to have the same entanglement he had with Ava.

"Who are you talking about?" Erika asked him puzzled, she had no idea that Sam already knew that she was in love with someone else.

"Arvin, of course. Who else it can be?" Sam smiled.

Erika's eyes widen at first knowing Sam already knew, then she composed herself and said with a sad smile, "It's all in the past. I really liked him once, but we were not suitable for each other. Besides he is already engaged."

"So if he wasn't engaged, would you have still approached me?" Sam asked with a serious face.

Erika was stunned, she lowered her eyes and kept silent for a while, then said very seriously. "Sam, there is no if in this world. If there was then all of our life probably would be different. He is starting a new life and I also want to do the same. What's the point of dwelling on what could have happened and what couldn't."

Sam smiled but didn't say anything else. He already got his answer. She is indeed a child, still so unclear of the idea of love. If he only could make her understand that being stubborn is easy but actually being able to let go of the man or woman you truly love is not that easy. But Sam knew she will get there someday when she will really understand her true mind.

The atmosphere became a little awkward in the living room so Sam picked up the fruit, put it in his mouth, and subtly changed the topics, "These mangos are really delicious."

"I am glad you liked them, I'll buy some more for you. Oh, that reminds me I need to go to the supermarket. Do you want to accompany me?" Erika asked with a smile.

"Sure. I haven't been out for a while so I think a walk would be nice." Sam finished the fruits and said with a smile.

"Great, let's go now then."

"OK."

The supermarket was very close to the community Erika lived, so Sam and she decided to walk. They were walking side by side in the street when they heard some noise of car brakes. They both looked in the direction and saw a few cars were stopping one after another by the side of the road. All of a sudden Erika and Sam were surrounded by a bunch of people, some with cameras in hand and some with microphones. They kept taking photos of Sam and Erika, then they started to ask a series of questions to Erika.

"Miss Knight, is this your boyfriend standing next to you?"

"Are you two living together? Why did you come out of the same neighborhood?"

"Miss Knight, you held a press conference some time ago and said that you will be on a break from the showbiz for a few days. Are love and romance the reasons for that?"

"Miss Knight, please say something!"

...

The reporters were all in high spirits and they kept throwing question after question at her. After all, Erika was not only a superstar but also one of the Knights who rules the city. How could they let go of such a good opportunity?

Erika was a bit unprepared and a little angry because of the questions. However Sam was very calm, he just stood there beside Erika protecting her from the crowd. Sam was wearing a Navy blue shirt and straight black pants. The warm afternoon sun fell on him and he looked particularly handsome and dignified who completely stands out from the crowd, therefore all the media's attention went to him immediately.

Erika knew if she didn't say anything now, these reporters will start to spread rumors, so she decided to clarify her and Sam's relationship. Erika looked at the camera confidently and said in a domineering tone, "Thank you all, for your concern. I am sorry but I won't be able to answer all of your questions right now, so I am going to answer a few.

First of all, I want to clarify that this is not my boyfriend, we are friends and we have known each other for a long time. Secondly, the reason for my break has nothing to do with this gentleman, it's purely because of leisure I took some time off. So I hope you people would not spread any rumors about me and my friend. Thank you."

"Miss Knight, this the first time you came out with a male friend, you don't take us like fools by saying that you two are just friends, are you?" One of the reporters said sarcastically.

"Yes, Miss Knight. Is it something like you are just friends now and will be something more in the future?"

The reporters' questions were very sharp and Erika was very slow to answer them. Normally she was very confident, quick-witted, and fierce in front of the camera but today she was feeling uncomfortable because of Sam. She didn't want to put this kind of pressure on him. If she knew these reporters would find them, she would never ask him to accompany her.

Sam turned and looked at Erika he could tell she was uncomfortable, after all, she was never asked these kinds of personal questions before. So Sam decided to intervene.

With a broad smile on his face, Sam looked at the reporters then said, "Well at this moment Erika and I are good friends, we don't know what the future holds but if in the near future Erika and I decided to be more then just friends we will surely invite you all to give the good news."

Saying that Sam didn't wait for any more questions, he just grabbed Erika's hand and walked out of there.
