Daniel & Oliver

Knight International

Right at this moment, the atmosphere in Oliver's office was very gloomy. Oliver was staring at the unexpected guest in front of him with hostility, while the man stood there with an indifferent face.

"Daniel, I don't think you have any reason to be here," Oliver said coldly and his dark eyes became darker.

"Oliver Knight, Aren't you being a little rude? As your old classmate, you can at least ask me to sit down." Daniel said with a sarcastic smile on his face.

Ask you? Do I need to? Aren't you a shameless bastard who comes and goes as he pleases? Oliver thought to himself, however, he looked at Daniel and said with a sneer. "Old classmate? Fine have a seat. Say whatever you are here to say and leave, there is no reason for going around the conversation." Obviously, Oliver knew Daniel's visit had nothing to do with reminiscence, they never had any friendly relationship with each other.

Daniel was also aware of Oliver's insincere attitude toward him, it has always been like this since high school. In fact, they both were the same in character, if it wasn't for their identity, they might be good friends.

"Fine, I'll get to the point then. I know you are involved in Ethan Smith's death." Daniel said looking straight at Oliver, his face was a little gloomy.

Oliver already expected Daniel to say that, so he sat there in his chair calmly with a relaxed face. He smiled and said, "Daniel, you are still the same. Still, you make assumptions and put the blame on me."

"Oliver, do you think I don't know how you run your business? Tony has already admitted everything, so no need to play dumb with me." Daniel's cold eyes were filled with hatred.

Although Tony has admitted everything, but that's useless now since he was killed in the detention center last night. Daniel was sure his death had something to do with Oliver, however, like always Oliver was so cunning that there was no evidence to prove it.

In recent years, Daniel tried to investigate Oliver a few times after his first case, but his grandfather repeatedly warned him not to continue the investigation. Both the Knights and the Sherman's were well known in this city and they always had a good understanding, they never crossed each other's path. But Daniel was different, he never cared about their family's relationship and would always look for clues to get to Oliver but every time he finds a witness, Oliver would make them disappear. Daniel felt frustrated, he was a prosecutor how could he swallow it just like that? His job was to get justice therefore, this time he was determined to put Oliver behind the bars but to his disappointment, Tony was also killed.

"I have no clue what you are talking about. Who is Tony?" Oliver said with a straight face but his eyes were smiling.

"You are a good actor Oliver, why don't you join the entertainment circle like your cousin? You will surely win an Oscar. But you don't have to act in front of me, I already know what kind of person you are." Daniel locked eyes with Oliver and said in an angry tone.

"Thank you for your compliment, but I'm not interested in acting. It's boring and tiring, don't you think?" Oliver chuckled and said with a relaxed expression.

"Oliver, I came here today to warn you..." Before Daniel could finish his sentence, Oliver's phone started to ring.

Oliver looked at his phone and his face immediately changed from indifferent to tender. He looked at Daniel and said, "Daniel, please give me a minute, I need to take this call." There was no anger in his tone.

Ava just finished her work and was about to leave. Normally, Oliver comes to the hospital before she finishes her work and waits for her in the parking lot, however today she has been waiting for ten minutes but there was no sign of Oliver. She got a little worried and called him.

"Oliver, where are you? Are you stuck in a traffic jam?" Ava asked worriedly, she was standing in the hospital underground parking lot.

"Honey, I'm really sorry. I am in a meeting at the company. I won't be able to pick you up today. Can you please take a taxi home?" Oliver frowned as he looked at his watch. He didn't realize it was this late.

"Sure, no problem. Come home as soon as you finish, I'll be waiting for you." Ava said softly with a smile.

"I will baby, send me a message when you get home." Oliver raised his eyes and looked at Daniel. He needs to deal with this problem first.

"OK, bye." Ava's sweet voice made Oliver's heart warm.

After hanging up the phone, Oliver looked at Daniel and said, "You were saying?"

Daniel pursed his lips and rolled his eyes on him then said, "Oliver, you will have to pay for all your sins one day, so don't get too overconfident about yourself."

"Is that so? I guess you are right, everyone needs to pay for their sins one day." Oliver said indifferently as his sharp eyes looked at Daniel.

Others might not understand what Oliver meant by that but Daniel knew him well enough to know that he was mocking him. It seems they will never be able to resolve anything with a conversation. He clenched his fist and looked at Oliver angrily, "Oliver, you don't need to play word games with me here. It's boring. I hope from now on you cover your tracks well because the moment I find anything against you I'll make sure you are done for life."

"Thank you for your warning. If you are done you can leave and next time, if you want to meet me bring some evidence against me. My time is very precious and I don't like to waste it on useless things. Don't think that just because you are a prosecutor, I cannot touch you." Oliver said arrogantly.

Daniel stood up from the sofa and said lightly. "Take care."

After Daniel left, Uncle Joe who was standing there quietly finally opened his mouth, "CEO Knight, why are you giving him so much attention? He won't be able to find any evidence against you."

"Of course, I know he won't but I know Daniel, he won't give up easily so from now on we have to be even more careful," Oliver said as he looked outside of the window into the distance.

Uncle Joe looked at Oliver and thought, although Oliver was not as sophisticated and steady as Conner Knight, but he had enough arrogance in him to deal with people like Daniel. In those days, Conner Knight was just like him too. As people say, a tiger father would give birth to a tiger son.
