Brother Daniel

Professor Wood smiled in understanding. Daniel took an elective summer course when he was at the university and at that time he was Daniel's course coordinator. Daniel was very talented and a good student, therefore he had a good relationship with him. It's a pity that he dropped out of medical college otherwise he would make an excellent doctor or researcher. However, Daniel often visits him, mostly when he had any question in mind or needed an opinion on something, just like today.

Professor Wood looked at the two again and noticed the way they were looking and smiling at each other, he could tell their relationship was not just Senior and junior. However, it was not his place to ask anything so he kept quiet.

Ava put the paper on the professor's desk and was about to leave, but Daniel stopped her. He stood up and asked with a smile. "Ava, are you free right now?"

"Yes." Ava nodded.

Oliver was working at the company and she had nothing to do so she said without any hesitation. Ava always had a very good relationship with Daniel when she used to go to his house for Piano lessons. He was like a brother to her.

"Let's have some coffee together," Daniel asked politely, without any compulsion.

"Sure." Ava agreed happily. It's been years since she met him, so she actually wanted to catch up with him.

"Professor Wood, I'll talk to you about this some other time, if it's ok?" Daniel asked with a faint smile.

"Sure, no problem. Feel free to drop by anytime. I have to check the papers now anyway." Professor Wood said and gave him a meaningful look.

Ava didn't think much of it and went to have coffee with Daniel. They found a quiet cafe near the university and sat there.

"Brother Daniel, I haven't seen you for almost 6 years now. How have you been? And why were you at the university today?" Ava asked as she started to stir the coffee in her cup.

"I have a case on hand. I just came to ask Professor Wood's opinion on it. Sometimes a third person's point of view can open your mind." Daniel took a sip of his coffee and said with a calm smile.

"So, what are you doing now? Police?" Ava asked curiously.

"Do I look like a policeman?" Daniel laughed and asked with twinkling eyes.

Ava shook her head and said, "Well, you don't look like a policeman but you just said you have a case in hand so I just made an assumption."

Daniel smiled and asked curiously, "Oh! Why don't I look like a policeman?"

"You are so handsome, that profession doesn't suit you," Ava said laughing and joking.

"Little girl, your mouth has become sweeter," Daniel said with a charming smile. The light on the top of his head fell on him creating a divine atmosphere around him.

"So if it's not police then what is it? Judge?"

"Prosecutor."

"That's great. But didn't you get admission to a medical college, how did you become a prosecutor?" Ava suddenly remembered the day Daniel told his mother that he got admission into a medical college his mother was so happy that she cooked for all her student and celebrated it.

Daniel's bright eyes suddenly became dull and he looked away but soon he composed himself and said with a smile, "It's a long story. I'll tell you some other time. So what are you doing now, little girl? Do you still play? "

At the mention of that Ava felt sour in her heart. Daniel was also like Jacob aware of Ava's dream of studying music and teaching it. But that was just a dream and reality was something else. Suddenly Ava's beautiful face covered with a layer of sadness.

Ava shook her head and said with lowered eyes, "No, I don't play anymore."

"I read in the newspaper about the accident. Is it really true that Melody has passed away?" Daniel also said sadly. When they were at the school, Melody was also like Ava. She was so kind and polite, it's a pity that she had to leave so early.

Ava nodded, and said in a choked voice, "It's been five years...."

"Ava, don't be too sad. Everyone comes into this world with their own destiny. You cannot change anything or fight against it." Daniel's deep eyes had a touch of sadness in them as he said that. Just like he was born as an illegitimate son title and he has to live with it for the rest of his life.

"I know and it has been years since the incident happened, so I have already put it down. How is Miss Grey doing lately? I haven't seen her for years. Does she still have that terrible headache? I remember she used to suffer a lot from that headache." Ava changed the topics and asked about Daniel's mother.

Daniel's hold on the coffee cup became tighter as if he was going to crush it. His eyes turned bloodthirsty red with a trace of hatred in them. He still remembered the day his mother died. It was raining that day, and Daisy jumped off from the roof of the world trade center. It was 117th floor and under the drizzle, Daisy's Beige dress was dyed red with blood. When Daniel arrived at the scene, Daisy was already dead and taken to the funeral home but the street was still red with her blood.

For Daniel it was very hard to accept her lively mother could commit suicide just like that, so it became a deep scar in his chest and an unsolved case that he has been trying to solve since the day he became a prosecutor. After his mother's death, Daniel dropped out of medical college and changed his major to became a prosecutor. He figured that was the only way he could solve the case of his mother's death. He never believed it was a simple suicide case.

However, when he tried to investigate her death, he went through every corner of his house but didn't find anything. His only clue was a phone call from an unknown number, which was the last call on Daisy's phone before she died. But when he tried to investigate the number, he found that number has been unregistered and the previous details have been removed from the database. He was sure Ben's mother Anya had something to do with this tragedy, she was the only one in this whole world, who hated his mother from the core of her heart but he couldn't find any proof against her. Therefore it was a knot in his heart and remained an unsolved case.
