O'Neil's Mansion.
The weather outside was gloomy and so was the inside of the mansion. Adam and Tanya O'Neil just arrived from France and were sitting in the living room with an angry face. Unfortunately, Arvin was home today as it was Sunday. He knew that his parents would come back as soon as they find out about the press conference, he just didn't expect it to be this soon. He thought he still had a few more days but now looking at his parent's angry faces he knew a storm was coming.
Adam was sitting quietly in the living room with a straight face and Tanya was beside him. They both just sat there staring at Arvin's without a word. But one could tell they were very angry. Arvin stood there with a guilty face, he was well aware that he was about to face a disaster. So he just stood there with a serious face and didn't dare to make any jokes.
Tanya suddenly picked up a cushion from the couch and threw it at Arvin then with a fierce look on her face she started to scold him. "Arvin, what is wrong with you? When will you grow up? Do you think marriage is some kind of game that you agree to it today and break tomorrow? If you didn't want to marry Jessica then why did you agree to get engage with her? And how dare you call for a press conference and announce it in public? Do you care about our reputation at all? What did that poor girl do to you that you humiliate her like that?"
Arvin caught the cushion pillow that Tanya threw at him, and said in a calm voice: "Mom, don't be angry, please. I have already explained to the reporters that, we are too different from each other and I don't want to just settle for a commercial marriage, I want to marry for love."
"Ok, we understand that but don't you think you have gone too far by calling the press conference without even consulting with us? Do you have any idea how that will affect our business?" Adam looked at Arvin and said angrily. He couldn't understand how they gave birth to such an indecisive son. He can't make up his mind about anything and would always end up messing things up.
"Dad, I don't think what I did was wrong. I need to face my own problems and find the solution myself, if I can't do that how do you expect me to run O'Neil's empire? You two shouldn't have come back, I could have handled it well here." Arvin said looking at his father.
"We shouldn't have come back? How you were planning to handle it then? Arvin, this is not a game, I'm warning you. Go to Jessica and apologies to her for what you did and reconcile with her. If you don't do what I asked then I will throw you out of this house." Adam said in a domineering and resolute voice. His face turned red in rage hearing Arvin.
"I am sorry dad but I am not going to reconcile with Jessica. I don't love her and I am not going to marry her." Arvin said in a firm tone.
"Why did you get engaged to Jessica, if you never intended to marry her?" Adam asked aggressively.
Arvin smiled and said, "Can't I change my mind?"
"You changed your mind! Arvin. Do you think this a funny?" Adam stood up excitedly, he couldn't hold his temper anymore.
"Arvin, you don't really have a choice if you don't sort things out with Jessica you can't stay under this roof. We are very serious about this, I'll give you a day to think about it." This time Tanya stood up from the couch and said calmly.
She was also very tired of Arvin's childish behaviors all the time. He never takes anything seriously and she was the one to blame for that so she decided to be strict with him this time.
"Mom, how can you do this to me I'm your only son," Arvin said in an aggrieved voice. He knew his parents were not joking this time, if they really decided to throw him out then they will also confiscate all his assets.
"I don't care, I have spoiled you too much and I am not doing it anymore. Aren't you very capable then live on your own or do as we say!" Tanya retorted, putting out an image of a strong woman.
Adam supported his wife's decision. Arvin was their only son so they were never very strict with him. Whenever he did something wrong and Adam wanted to discipline him Tanya would take his side and protect him. Tanya was stubborn but her son was all she has so she spoiled him. However, this time she was determined to punish him and teach him a lesson so he wanted to support his wife.
