Lilly couldn't understand what was wrong with her daughter. She wanted her to be strong but instead, she seems to depend more on Oliver. If in the future Oliver did anything wrong to her she will be deeply hurt because Lilly could see that she was very different around Oliver. Ava and Jacob were together for almost 5 years but she had never seen Ava depend on him like that which was again making Lilly uncomfortable and she was sort of scared for her daughter. However, she couldn't do anything about it, except for advising her and praying that nothing ever goes wrong in her relationship.
"Ava, I just want you to be happy. We will not always be around to look after you, you know." Lilly said sadly.
"Mom, why are you talking about this? You are healthy and well. You will live a long life." Ava frowned and said in a choking voice.
"Silly girl, people don't live forever. Life is uncertain, I could die tomorrow by an accident." Lilly saw tears in Ava's eyes, her own eyes also turned red.
Ava shook her head firmly and said, "no way, nothing can happen to you, so please stop talking about this nonsense." Ava couldn't think of her life without her parents, she felt panicked.
"Silly girl. Fine, I won't say these things, it's just I am worried about you..." Lilly didn't complete the sentence. She knew Ava wouldn't like to hear anything against Oliver but she couldn't help but worry.
How could Ava not know what her mother wanted to say? She knew her mother was worried about her and Oliver's relationship, she looked at her warmly and said softly, "Mom, I know you are worried that I'll be wronged by Oliver but I can assure you that Oliver is very kind to me. He will never hurt me."
Lilly sighed and smiled at Ava then said, "Ok, I believe you. Now let's go back home, it's already late. Don't you want me to teach you how to knit a scarf?"
Ava turned and started to walk toward home holding her mother's hand. They were talking and laughing happily as if the conversation a few minutes earlier didn't happen.
Oliver was sitting in his car watching the whole scene with creased eyebrows. He has been following Ava since she got off her work. He didn't expect her to go out after dinner, seeing her going out with her mother although he was at ease, he still followed her. He didn't see what she bought but just now he saw her crying. He couldn't understand what was going on with her. She has been very absent-minded lately and also acting very mysterious. He had a feeling she was hiding something from him. But he also knew her well, she wouldn't admit it even if he tried to confront her so he kept quiet about it. Only he was very uncomfortable in his heart that's why he has been following her.
The next two days went in a blur. After getting home the night Ava got the weaving materials Lilly showed her some techniques of knitting and in a very short time, she got a hold of it. She already had the basic ideas so when her mother showed her a little she instantly got it. The whole night she knitted the scarf with full concentration. She even knitted it at work when she was free. As soon as she got home she went to her room straightway and started to knit the scarf again.
It's the 3rd night, Ava was in her room still knitting the scarf which was almost finished. She didn't use any complicated method or design it was simple so it didn't take that long for her.
Lilly made Ava's favorite seafood noodles today, she called her for dinner. As soon as Ava came downstairs she smelled the seafood, she didn't know why suddenly she started to feel sick smelling it. Ava's stomach turned and she quickly ran toward the bathroom covering her mouth with her hand.
Lilly noticed that she paused, then putting down the seafood noodles on the table she followed her to the bathroom with a confused face. Lilly stood at the bathroom door and watched Ava trying to throw up. Lilly's eyes sank, she hurriedly went inside and tried to soothe her by rubbing her back. When Ava stopped she looked at her and asked gently, "Ava, are you pregnant?" Lilly remembered when she was pregnant with Ava she was like that, she would though up without any reason. So she wondered if Ava was pregnant too.
Ava froze hearing Lily's question. She mentally started to calculate when she had her period last time and realized she was actually late. She was so busy in her daily life that it completely got out of her mind. Her face instantly became pale at the possibility of getting pregnant. There were actually many times they didn't take proper measures during sex, so it was possible for her to be pregnant. However, she was afraid to admit it in front of Lilly. She still remembered the talk she had with her mother about pregnancy, she knew her mother will be disappointed in her. Besides she was not sure yet, it could be a stomach bug. So she decided to not tell her anything until she was sure.
