Ava was stunned for a moment and her bright eyes become a little dull. She stayed silent for a while then said very calmly, "Oliver will never do that to me!" Ava never thought even in her dream that Oliver would abandon her.
"He wouldn't do that? What kind of person do you think he is?" Daniel said with a mocking laugh, his tone was full of hatred.
"Brother Daniel, I know Oliver loves me, he will never abandon me and our child," Ava said firmly.
"You're wrong, Ava. A man who can commit severe crimes without any remorse can abandon you and his child at any moment. Let me ask you a simple question. Now that you are pregnant with his child, did he ask you to marry him?" Daniel asked sharply, he couldn't hold his anger anymore. How could a smart girl like Ava was trusting a scoundrel like Oliver so blindly, that was beyond his understanding.
"It's between me and him." This was the only thing Ava could say to stop Daniel from saying all this, even though she knew what Daniel said was reasonable but she still chose to defend Oliver.
However, Daniel got even more angry hearing Ava, he excitedly held Ava's wrist tightly and said angrily, "Ava will you stop making excuses for him? If you still don't listen to me, you won't be even able to cry one day. It's not too late yet, listen to me and turn back. You two are from two different worlds. You will never be happy with him."
Ava's face twisted in pain, the grip on her wrist was too tight, she said, "Brother Daniel, you are hurting me."
Daniel got back to his senses and loosen his fingers on her wrist, then said softly almost in a pleading tone, "Ava, please think about what I have just said to you. Don't be blinded by his lies."
"Brother Daniel, I don't know what prejudice you have against Oliver, but since I chose him and he chose me, I think we will be together for the rest of our lives." Ava didn't want to think about it. Before Daniel came, she was thinking about the marriage and was already feeling a bit insecure. Now Daniel's words worked like fuel on the fire, Ava's fragile heart was now even more confused.
"You are so naive. Why don't you listen to me?" Daniel laughed at himself, feeling helpless.
"If someone doesn't want to listen then you should probably stop trying to peruse them."
Daniel's eyes narrowed, and he asked in a sad tone, "Ava, do you think I am your enemy and I will ever hurt you?"
Ava pursed her lips and fell silent for a moment, she was embarrassed. She knew Daniel meant well but she didn't know how to make him understand that Oliver was different with her and he really loved her. She understood Daniel's concern but she couldn't just leave Oliver.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it that way, sir," Ava said in a soft voice.
Daniel started to laugh again, he felt really helpless, no matter what he says Ava wouldn't listen. He seems to run out of reason to persuade Ava. Sure enough, people who fall in love were all blinds. They both were silent for a while.
"Did Oliver say when he will marry you?" Daniel suddenly asked.
Ava didn't answer, she just lowered her eyes.
"Then why are you being so stupid, Ava?" Daniel who just calmed himself down got angry again.
"We'll get married," Ava said in a light but firm tone.
"He will? Then you should probably ask Oliver why he wants to marry you or ask him what was his intention to get closer to you in the first place and see how he answers." Daniel said solemnly. His idea about Melody was a pure guess, so he didn't want to tell Ava anything unless he was sure.
Ava was a little confused by the question Daniel wanted her to ask Oliver. She and Oliver met at the club, she was drunk and slept with Oliver, that's how they started. Although at the beginning Ava was really surprised that Oliver chose her instead of any other woman at the club but she truly never doubted his intention because she didn't have anything that Oliver would have wanted so she always thought he was just attracted toward her.
"What do you mean? What is there to ask?" Ava asked with creased eyebrows.
Sometimes when you trust someone too much you don't see any problem in them Ava was the same no matter what Daniel said Ava thought Daniel hated Oliver that's why he was saying all this.
"Ava, sometimes there is some bitter truth that people don't really want to face. I didn't come here today to create trouble between you and Oliver, I just don't want to see you getting hurt. And I know if you don't start to ask the right questions now you will end up getting hurt." Knowing that Ava wouldn't listen, Daniel changed his tactics and began to enlighten her.
Ava fell silent and her mind was full of thoughts! She couldn't help but wonder the meaning of Daniel's words? Was Oliver hiding something from her? She still didn't know anything about his past, yet she decided to trust him blindly. Then was Daniel right about her being blindly in love with Oliver? Why did Daniel insist that Oliver had a purpose to approach her? She never questioned that before but now that she thinks about it, it did make sense to her. It couldn't be a coincidence that she ended up sleeping with Oliver that night, then what was the truth?
