In the kitchen, Oliver started to do the dishes with full concentration, he looked like a good husband. Ava looked at him and chuckled, she never thought she would see Oliver doing the household chores in her parent's home. He doesn't even wash his cup at home.
"What are you laughing at?" Oliver handed the plate to Ava to dry it. Actually, Oliver didn't want Ava to help him here, it's not good for her to stand for a long time since she was pregnant but Ava wouldn't let Oliver do it alone so he had no other choice but to let her help him.
"Well, it's a rare scene to see The CEO of Knight International work in the kitchen and do the dishes. I didn't even know you could do that." Ava said with a playful smile.
"This is the most basic household chores, if I can't even wash dishes, then how do you expect me to survive?" Oliver said giving Ava a sideways glance.
"Then why don't you do it at home?" Ava asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Because Mrs. Lee is there to take care of those things at home."
"You are such a slacker."
"Look who is talking, the biggest sloth in the world is calling me a slacker," Oliver said with a mocking smile.
Ava frowned, waved her fist, and said excitedly, "Who are you calling a sloth?"
"Well, the way you are reacting, it has to be you, slugger!" Oliver washed the last bowl, dried his hands with a dry towel, and hugged Ava from behind.
"Well, if I'm a big slacker, then you ..you...you're a big black bug," Ava said with an angry face.
Oliver lowered his head and started to kiss softly behind Ava's ear and neck. "Fine my wife, whatever you say."
"Hey, hey...Oliver let go...it tickles." Ava started to wiggle in Oliver's arm and laugh loudly.
Lilly and James were sitting in the living room heard Ava's laughter. It was so infectious that Lilly started to smile unconsciously. Lilly looked in the direction of the kitchen and thought, she hasn't heard her daughter's loud laughter for a long time. Maybe Oliver was really good for her.
"Shh, keep it down, you have such a loud voice, What will your parents think of me?" Oliver said as he pressed his hand on her mouth afraid that Lilly and James will hear it.
Ava stopped laughing and made a face at him then turned to prepared some tea for James and Lilly. Oliver put the cup and teapot in a tray and carried it to the living room, Ava followed behind. Oliver put the tray on the tea table, took one cup of tea, and handed it to James, saying, "Uncle, please have some tea."
"Oh! Thank you, Oliver." James said with a warm smile.
"Auntie, tea." Oliver handed another cup to Lilly and said politely.
"Thank you."
After handing the tea, Oliver sat down opposite James, Ava also sat down beside Oliver. Oliver looked at both parents in front with a smile and said, "Uncle and auntie, we have very important news to share with you."
"Alright, what is it, Oliver?" James sat straight and asked with a serious face.
Oliver took Ava's hand and looked at her warmly, then looked back at James and said earnestly, "Ava and I have decided to get married. Today I am here to ask for your permission and blessings. We want to get married next Friday."
"What? Next Friday? Why so soon?" Lilly shouted out in shock.
"It's because next Friday is the last good day in this year," Oliver explained with a faint smile.
"But why do you have to do it this year? What's the rush?" Lilly glanced at Ava and suddenly she had a feeling they are rushing it because Ava is pregnant.
Ava looked at her mother and knew she wouldn't be able to hide it from her anymore so she said with an apologetic look, "Mom, actually I'm pregnant."
Lilly pursed her lips thinking so she was right, while, James looked very surprised.
James quickly composed himself and said in a serious tone, "Oliver, I'd like to start with you. Since you two have decided to spend your life with each other, I wish you all the best. I hope your life will be full of happiness, but Oliver, you mustn't wrong our daughter. Although, the Green family is not as rich as powerful as the Knight family, but Ava is our only daughter and the apple of our eyes. She never lived a hard life since she was a child. I know she had a strong character and sometimes she was very stubborn, but try to be considerate and forgivable toward her. In the future, she will be your responsibility."
"Uncle, I know. I really love Ava and I will never let her suffer any grievance, I will treat Ava well." Oliver nodded his head firmly and said very seriously.
Lilly felt like she was in a daze. Her only daughter was getting married next week. She suddenly became very emotional, she said in a choking voice, "I won't say anything else, my child. I wish you have a happy life. As long as you two are happy, we will be happy." Lilly's eyes were glistering with tears.
"Don't worry, auntie. I will never let you down for trusting me with Ava." Oliver held Ava's soft hand and said looking at her with eyes full of love.
Ava also looked at Oliver and her heart was touched by his words. She knew Oliver was very difficult sometimes but she still loved him with all her heart. At this moment, Ava was reassured about her life and future with Oliver.
