The late CEO

The next morning, Oliver was sleeping peacefully hugging Ava when his phone started to ring.

Ava woke up by the phone ring and said annoyed, "Oliver your phone is ringing..." Since Oliver made Ava quit her job she became very lazy and took full advantage of the morning by waking up late.

Oliver reached out and picked up the phone from the bedside table. Seeing it was Uncle Joe he quickly received the call. He knew if Uncle Joe called this must be something important.

"Mr. Knight, where are you?" Uncle Joe asked in an anxious tone. He was sitting in the office waiting for Oliver because they had an important monthly meeting with the shareholders today. But seeing Oliver was still not at the company he quickly called him. He knew if Oliver didn't show up for this meeting today, these old hotheaded shareholders will cause trouble for him.

"Uncle Joe I am at Ava's parents. Why what happened?" Oliver said leisurely even though he heard the urgency in Uncle Joe's voice.

"Mr. Knight, have you forgotten? Today is the monthly shareholder meeting. You needed to be here by 7.30 today." Uncle Joe said rolling his eyes. Since he started dating Ava his mind was not into the business anymore. All the shareholders are here ready for the meeting and Oliver was nowhere near.

"I'll be right there, tell them to wait a little longer." Oliver sat up on the bed and said in a low voice. How did he forget about the meeting? He even overslept again. Every time he was with Ava in bed, he didn't feel like letting her go. Oliver sighed and got up.

Ava also woke up feeling Oliver left the bed. She sat up on the bed and rubbed her bleary eyes. "Oliver, are you going to work?" Ava knew Oliver didn't go to the office yesterday so he can't miss work today, after all. he was the CEO of the company.

"Yes baby, I have an early meeting with the shareholders today. I will have to leave now. You go back to sleep. It's still early." Oliver pecked a kiss on the corner of Ava's mouth then quickly washed and got dressed in a rush.

Seeing Oliver was knotting his tie hastily, Ava got out of the bed and took it from him then said with a smile, "Let me help you."

Ava knot the tie carefully smoothed his shirt for him then said gently, "Now you are all good to go."

Oliver lowered his head, leaned forward, and kissed her then with a smile said softly, "Thanks, babe. I'll leave now. You take a rest and don't run around."

"OK, but don't forget to have breakfast." Ava followed Oliver out of the bedroom. But as soon as he opened the door a smell of delicious breakfast came into her nose from downstairs.

Lilly got up at six this morning to bake bread for Oliver. Last night, she forgot to ask what Oliver liked to eat. So she made sandwiches, fried rice with eggs, steamed buns, dumplings and so on.

"Good morning, uncle. Good morning, auntie." Oliver saw Lilly was busy in the kitchen, and James was reading a newspaper in the living room, he greeted them warmly.

"Oliver, you are up? Are you going to the office this early?" Lilly saw Oliver came down all dressed up, while Ava was in her pajama so she guessed Oliver was going to the office.

"Yes auntie, I have an early meeting at the company today," Oliver said with a polite smile.

"OK, then have breakfast quickly. It's ready." Lilly hurriedly brought out the last plate of steamed buns from the kitchen.

"No, auntie, I'm already late. Just give me a sandwich, I'll have it on the way." Oliver thought Lilly spent so much effort preparing breakfast for him, it will be impolite if he didn't have anything.

Ava quickly went to the kitchen and put some sandwiches and dumplings on a lunchbox and poured some milk on a takeaway cup, then handed it to Oliver saying, "Oliver, don't forget to have it. It's not good to skip breakfast."

"I will baby. You take care of yourself. Have breakfast and if you feel sleepy then sleep for a while and call me when you wake up. OK!" Oliver said and placed a soft kiss on her forehead.

Ava nodded: "OK."

Ava walked Oliver to the door and when he left she looked down and put her hand on her stomach and said softly, "Baby, daddy has gone to work."

"Ava, why are you standing at the door? Come and have breakfast." Lilly shouted out from the dining room.

Ava walked slowly back to the living room and sat down at the dining table. She took a steamed bun in her hand and turned to her father who was reading the newspaper with a serious face. She asked, "Dad, what are you reading?"

"Knight International's stock is once again at the top of the list this month, this is the 10th time this year." James put down his newspaper and thought Oliver was such an excellent business. He was still so young yet he brought the company to the top in such a short time. James felt very proud that Oliver is going to be his son-in-law.

Ava didn't understand the company affairs very much but she knew Oliver has always been very efficient when it comes to work so she said with a smile, "Yes, Oliver is very hard working."

"Ava, after you marry Oliver, you cannot be as childish and stubborn as before. Handling a multinational company is not a small matter so you need to be more considerate and understanding toward him, you know?" James felt he should give his daughter some advice, he knew she could be troublesome sometimes. Oliver was a significant person in the mall and he had a lot of responsibility at work, it will be difficult if he had to handle both the company and his troublesome daughter.

"I know Dad, don't worry. I won't make any trouble for him." Ava said with a smile.

Lilly came over with a cup of hot milk, put it in front of Ava, and said: "Ava, drink it. A pregnant woman needs more nutrition."

"Silly girl, what are you thanking me for? Listen, since you are getting married next week why don't you stay here for the week? "Good. Then hurry and finish your breakfast, I will take you shopping." Lilly felt like a headache. The wedding is next week and she had a lot to do. How she was going to finish all the preparation?
