Leaving the past behind

Oliver stood there for a while and let the cold wind pass through. Since the day Melody left all he wished for her to come back but now that she was really back he has changed. He fell in love with her best friend. Oliver feels like he betrayed her but he did wait for her for 5 years. Oliver sighed and slowly walked back to the inside of the house.

"Oliver, where have you been? We were waiting for you to have dinner. Come on, let's eat together." Ava reached out, but when she touched his cold fingers she frowned.

"I just went outside to take a call. I didn't want to disturb you." Oliver said with a dotting smile. His dark eyes were tender full of love and affection for the woman in front of him. He gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind Ava's ear.

Ava shrunk her neck and started to giggle, "what are you doing, it tickles?"

"Honey, do you know ever since you became pregnant you are more sensitive to my touch," Oliver said pulling Ava close to him.

"Is that so? Are you complaining Mr. Knight?" Ava said resting her head to Oliver's chest.

"Absolutely not, Mrs. Knight." Oliver held her tightly in his arm and kissed the top of her head.

Ava and Oliver were standing in front of the backyard door hugging each other. Melody heard Ava's laughter she was curious so she came to have a look and seeing Oliver and Ava so much in love she was very envious of them. If only Liam was as good to her as Oliver was to Ava, she wouldn't ask for anything. She quietly turned and came back to the dining room.

Oliver and Ava also came back shortly after. Oliver opened the chair and helped Ava to sit down, then he served the food on Ava's plate. The affection between them was very clear. Seeing their love Melody clenched her fist under the table. Behind her gorgeous smile, she hid the deep hatred she felt for Ava at that moment.

After dinner, like a good friend Ava asked Oliver to send Melody home since it was late. Of course, Melody didn't object as this was the chance she was looking for. She needed to be alone with Oliver. After that day in his office room, Oliver never looked for her and as he was the CEO of the company it was difficult to come across him often, so this was a perfect opportunity for her to talk to Oliver.

Oliver didn't want to go but he couldn't refuse Ava so he agreed and led Melody to his car. Melody came to the passenger's seat however to her surprise Oliver opened the back door for her and asks her to sit. Melody wondered why Oliver didn't let her seat in the passenger seat but she didn't ask anything. She didn't want to arouse Oliver's suspicion, so she obediently sat in the back.

Oliver started the engine and drove the car silently. He didn't want to talk to Melody so he was driving like he was the only one in the car. Seeing this Melody became a little impatient. She wanted to make a conversation with him so she asked in a soft and gentle voice, "CEO Knight, You and Ava seem so much in love. How did you two meet?"

"I was destined to meet her, it didn't matter where and how," Oliver said indifferently but his tone sounded a little arrogant and proud.

"Wow, is she your first love?"

"Does it matter? First love is not important, meeting the right person is." Oliver answered calmly.

"Yes, you are right. I am happy to see Ava so happy with you." Melody said sincerely with a soft smile.

"I heard you lost your memory." Oliver suddenly asked very casually but his face was still indifferent.

"Yes! It's nearly six years now, I had a car accident. People say it's better to forget the past you can't remember, but I really want to know how I used to be." Melody said sadly as if she really wanted to know her past.

Hearing Melody's lost tone Oliver's hold on the staring wheel become tighter, he stepped down on the accelerator and sped the car. Since Melody has forgotten the past, it's probably for the best. It's better to let it go and never think about it. Within 10 Minutes Oliver reached the community Melody lived in but he didn't drop her at her door instead he dropped her at the community gate and drove away.

Melody was a bit puzzled and angry at Oliver's action but what could she do. She was planning to hold Oliver for a cup of tea, and delay his return. But this arrogant man not only did not respond to her coquettishness but also dropped her in the middle of the road. Melody turned and angrily walked toward her apartment.

Oliver came back as quickly as he could. He needed to be with his wife. As soon as he got to the living room he saw Ava was still waiting for him there holding a piece of note in her hand.

"Honey, why are you still up? It's late" Oliver rushed toward Ava and said gently.

Ava smiled and said "I was waiting for you. Did you drop Melody home?"

"Yes." Oliver picked up Ava from the couch and started to walk toward their bedroom, "But you should not stay up for so late."

"I know I just wanted you to come home first."

Oliver put Ava down on the bed and softly kissed her on the lips then said, "I am here now, you can go to sleep."

"Come and lie down with me," Ava said yawning.

Oliver didn't refuse he also wanted to be close to Ava at this moment. Being close to her would give him strength and clarity. He also felt very calm when Ava was in his arm so he laid there holding Ava as close as he could and fall asleep peacefully.
