Stubborn Ava

Ava froze in place when she heard it was the CEO of Knight International who was at her office but she quickly composed herself and by the time Oliver entered Ava's office she sat there with an expressionless face, focusing on the case file in front of her. She was worried though why he was here all of a sudden. Didn't she make it clear last night that she didn't want anything to do with him?

Oliver however walked inside and came straight to Ava's desk as if he owns the place. He sat down on the chair opposite Ava and made himself comfortable.

Ava didn't want to acknowledge Oliver so she kept reading the case file as if she was alone in the room, however, she couldn't keep the act for long. Seeing that Oliver didn't say a word, Ava got even more annoyed and finally raised her head from the file. She looked at him coldly and asked in an annoyed tone, "Mr. Knight what are you doing here? You cannot just barge into someone's office like that."

Oliver smiled faintly and said in his deep magnetic voice, "Well, I made a huge donation to your foundation last night so I guess I should be welcome here any time. Don't you think?"

"Fine! What can I do for you today? You are not here to donate again, are you?" Ava said with a mocking smile. She knew it was true that he donated a huge amount to her charity foundation yesterday, which was the highest amount so far an individual donated but that didn't make her humble toward him. Ava believed he had a motive behind it so she didn't want to entertain him and even didn't bother to offer him any refreshment. On top of that, she was already irritated by the news that was spreading outside about her and Oliver's relationship so she had more reason to be annoyed by seeing Oliver in person at her office.

Oliver kept smiling but he was observing Ava closely. He could tell Ava didn't like that he came here to her office, the irritation was very clear in her eyes but he didn't get angry. He knew Ava hasn't forgiven him yet so he was expecting this kind of behavior from her.

"Sure! I will donate another billion if you agree to have a coffee with me." Oliver said with a charming smile.

What! Is he flirting with her? Ava looked at him shocked, she didn't expect him to say something like that. After a while she said angrily, "Mr. Knight what kind of place do you think this is? I am sorry but we don't provide this kind of service here. You need to go somewhere else if you want to spend money to buy someone's time."

Oliver stared at Ava, she has changed so much. She didn't look like the warm woman whose eyes looked at him with love. Did she really move on? Was she really happy marrying Daniel?

"I am sorry baby, I didn't mean it that way. I figured you must be very busy and if I take you out for coffee that will affect your work. I just wanted to compensate. Nothing else." Oliver said in a soft voice but he was not smiling anymore instead his eyes showed remorse.

Ava was taken aback but she kept a blank face and said in a strong voice, "Well, thank you for your consideration but I don't need your compensation, and neither I have any desire to have coffee with you so please I suggest you leave. I have nothing to do with you. Thank you for your donation to our charity but that is it. I don't think we have to have more contacts in the future. "

Oliver looked like he was thinking something, then he suddenly smiled wide and said in a playful tone, "That's not true honey after all we are husband and wife. You see, I never filed for divorce three years ago. So legally I am still your husband and we have everything to do with each other. In fact, I think you should come back to our villa and take over your responsibility as my wife as soon as possible."

Ava was so shocked that she almost choked on the tea she was having. Her mind instantly got blank. He didn't file the divorce papers? Would that be bigamy now that she married Daniel without divorcing Oliver? Ava was almost panicked for a minute but she forced herself to calm down. She knew he was trying to scare her but she was not afraid of him anymore. It was not her fault that he didn't file the divorce, she had signed the papers and left. Besides she had Daniel to back her up; he used to be a prosecutor. Ava was sure he will find a way out of this.

Ava looked at Oliver confidently and said in a very cold tone, "That's not my problem, I already signed the divorce papers, if you have any problem with that you can contact my lawyer and we can settle the divorce."

Oliver laughed out loud and said looking at Ava in the eye, "Baby, you don't get it, do you? Why would I go to a lawyer when I have no intention to divorce you? Ava, it's never going to happen and I will make you come back to me." When Oliver said the last part there was a determination in his deep eyes.

Although Ava was a bit scared seeing the determination but she was also very stubborn, she had already made up her mind a long time ago that she would never go back to him. Ava said in a calm voice, "Oliver, even though you didn't file for the divorce, we still have been living separately for three years which is enough reason for me to file for a divorce. Do whatever you want to do but I will never come back to you."

How could he even think that she would want to come back to him after all he had done to her? He had not only lied to her, but he also cheated on her, he deceived her and because of him, she lost her child. How could she forgive him for all that? She wasn't only heartbroken, her heart died when she woke up at the hospital three years ago. She hated this man from the core of her heart.

Sometimes Ava wondered if her child was still alive, would she hate him so much? Would she forgive him for the lies and deception? Maybe... but that didn't matter anymore, her child died and she had no reason to be with him. She didn't leave all those years ago to go back to him one day.
