The filial son of Green Family
Sarah and Ava got into Ava's car and drove toward Green Villa. Sarah finally decided to ask the questions she has been dying to ask since he saw her, "Sis, where have you been all this time? Why did you leave like that? Do we mean nothing to you? How could you do this to Uncle and Aunty?"
Ava sighed, she knew she would be asked these questions but she couldn't tell them why she left. At that time that was the only way, she could leave Oliver. If she contacted her family Oliver would know and her plan to run away from him would fail.
"I have been in the US but I can't tell you why I left. It's really complicated. And of course, you people mean everything to me and that's why I came back but If I had let you all know then the reason I ran away, it wouldn't have worked. I did what I needed to do to live.
Although Sarah couldn't understand Ava's reasoning but she believed something must have happened for Ava to take that step. She suddenly asked hesitantly, "Ava, the news says you are married to Brother Daniel. Is that really true?"
"Yes, but it's not like that, we are nominal husband and wife, and not only that we have adopted a super lovely girl. You will love her. The child was so unfortunate; she lost her parents after she was born. According to US law, a single person could not adopt a child, so I had to marry Daniel to adopt her." Ava explained without hiding anything from Sarah.
Sarah let out a sigh of relief. She knew Ava was not the kind of person to run away and marry someone just like that, so it turns out they had to do it for the sake of that child. Sarah felt very proud of Ava that she didn't even think of her own life when she decided to adopt an orphan. Really her sister was the kindest person she knew.
"But what about brother Oliver? You are not going back to him?" Sarah asked a bit puzzled. Oliver never told them what happened between him and Ava, so no one knew why Ava left.
Ava smiled lightly and said, "No, Oliver and I are over."
Sarah looked at Ava with wide eyes and said anxiously, "But how and why Ava? I don't understand, brother Oliver never mentioned anything like that to any of us. What happened between you two?"
Ava sighed and said, "Lot of things actually. I don't want to talk about it, just know that we cannot be together and me my family has nothing to do with him."
"Ava I don't know what happened between you two but things have changed here while you were gone. Uncle and Aunty were devastated and it was brother Oliver who actually helped them to get over it. He was always there for them and helped them out when he himself was broken. He would always come and visit them so they will not feel the loss of you. When Uncle and Aunty finally accepted that you were gone, they wanted to set up a tombstone but brother Oliver never let them do that. He insisted that you are alive and well and eventually will come back home. Ava, Uncle, and Aunty are very much dependent on him, he has become a filial son to them, he took all your responsibility and fulfilled them sincerely. So even if you say our family has nothing to do with him, I don't think Uncle and Aunty will agree with you. You were gone Ava but he was there to pick up the pieces."
Ava was shocked to hear all that, it took a while for her to digest all that. Why would Oliver look after her parents? She signed the divorce paper, she made it clear that she didn't want anything to do with him, then why would he do all that? Ava suddenly started to feel guilty, yes she was an unfilial child who was so consumed in her own sorrow that she left her family behind and Oliver didn't have to but he took care of them for the past three years and became the filial son of the Green family. But why? After Ava came back the more she is encountering Oliver and his matters, the more she was feeling confused and conflicted in her heart.
Seeing Ava was quiet Sarah continued, "Do you know that brother Oliver has adopted a super cute little boy? In fact, things in the Green family and Knight Family became even more normal when Orion came into our life. He was like a light that brightened all our lives.
Ava heard about Oliver adopting a son. Daniel told her that, he also said he thinks it's Oliver's illegitimate child. Ava believed Daniel. After all, she knew his character very well besides he was so cold to everyone, why would he adopt a child who was not related to him. So what Daniel said made sense to her. Ava thought the boy must have been born after she left, so she despised him even more after knowing that.
Unaware of Ava's complicated heart Sarah kept talking. "Honestly speaking Sister, I have seen him suffering for you with my own eyes, we all have. He really loves you. Once, during dinner, he was very drunk and started to cry loudly. He told Uncle that he was sorry for everything he did to you but when Uncle asked him what he did? He didn't say anything, he just kept crying and kept babbling sorry. Uncle was so moved he assured him that no matter what brother Oliver had done, he will forgive him."
Ava's face twitched as anger started to fill her heart. So that's what he has been doing, that's why he was looking after her parents he just wanted to gain their trust and sympathy. What a cunning man!
"Sarah, don't believe Oliver. He is a good actor and he is full of lies." Ava said in an angry tone.
"But Ava, why would he lie to us? There is nothing he could gain from lying to us. Their family is richer than us, if he wanted he could abandon Uncle and Aunty since you were gone. But he didn't and I have seen him, how he treated Uncle and aunty, he has been really kind to them."
Ava's brows knitted together as she thought about what Sarah had said. It's true Oliver could just hope that she would come back but he didn't know for sure that she will then why would he gain sympathy from her parents, unless he was really sorry. That thought made Ava's calm heart restless. She didn't know what to do but how could she forgive him and believe him again?
