Similar Situation

As soon as Ben left the two sisters got into their private conversation. Ava asked Sarah stroking her hair, "Why did you start working at the coffee house? We don't have a lack of money for you to work like that. It's so tiring and that manager of yours was a shit man."

"I know but I just wanted to do something rather than sitting at home and I am planning to travel next year after graduation so I wanted to save some money for myself," Sarah said with a small smile on her innocent face.

"Oh! Where do you want to go?" Ava asked curiously. She felt proud that Sarah was thinking of saving her own money to travel rather than asking for it. It's not that her parents wouldn't give her money, in fact, Ava knew James and Lilly would be happy to give her money to travel because they all consider Sarah as their own but the thought that she wanted to travel on her own money made Ava realized that her sister has really grown up, she has learned to be independent.

"France!" Sarah said excitedly.

"Silly girl, you don't have to work to go on a trip. I'll sponsor your trip ok. Stay home, study and enjoy your university life. This is the prime age to explore life outside the home and enjoy it. After graduation, you will be so busy with work that you will have no time to enjoy life. So do it while you can, Understand!" Ava rubbed Sarah's head affectionately and said with a smile.

"But it's summer vacation, it's boring to stay at home. " Sarah looked at Ava innocently and said with a pout.

Ava laughed and shook her head then she asked wiggling her eyebrows, "Why is it boring? It's a precious time, date, fall in love, or else you will regret it for the rest of your life. "

Sarah lowered her head, and said in a low voice, "I'm not in a rush."

Ava felt Sarah's voice sounds very sad. She asked in a soft voice "Sarah, you like Ben, don't you? Then why are you keep rejecting him? You do know how much he cares about you, right? You have seen how he reacted at the coffee shop today. What are you doing? I hope it's not because of your parents."

Sarah sighed and said, "No sis, it's not. Ava, if your best friend and you love the same person, what would you do?"

Sarah asked Ava, completely unknown of the fact that this was the reason her life turned upside down because she and her best friend was in love with the same person, Ava closed her eyes and swallowed the bitterness then said looking outside, "I will give up on my love."

Sarah let out a bitter laugh and said, "I did the same thing. Do you remember my best friend Amy? Apparently, she has been in love with Ben since high school. So I gave up on Ben for her." Sometimes Sarah wanted to be selfish and accept Ben but when she looked at her best friend, she couldn't do that.

"Sarah, I understand, friendship is important, but you will also have to see Ben's perspective. Do you think Ben likes Amy? Because I can see that he is head over heels in love with you then why would you give up on him?" Ava tried to reason with Sarah.

Although she met Ben a very few times but his attention toward Sarah never gone unnoticed to Ava. Moreover, it's been years and he has been persistently chasing her, which tells her how determined Ben was about Sarah, only if this silly girl could understand it.

"But sis she has been in love with him since high school, even before I met Ben. How can I do that to her knowing her mind?"

"Silly girl, love cannot be determined by the time you have been in love with. It has to be a mutual feeling. If Ben doesn't feel the same way about Amy then there is no point in your sacrifice. Sarah, you need to think about it clearly, ask yourself will you regret losing him?" Ava was worried about Sarah, she could tell, Sarah was being stubborn for nothing but she needs to face her own feelings. Ava could not force her to see it or make her understand, Sarah will have to do it herself.

"I really don't know what to do, sis," Sarah said confused.

"If I were you, I would hold on to him now, Sarah. There are not many people in the world who would truly love you. Think about it." Ava said lightly.

Ava suddenly felt like Sarah was just like her and they were in the same situation. Wouldn't she do the same thing today if Melody was alive? Wouldn't she give up on Oliver? But in Sarah's case, Ava knew Ben was in love with Sarah from the beginning. Just like Oliver was in love with Melody, and she was in Amy's place, she was the third person in this love triangle just like Amy is.
