The tense atmosphere

Mia's felt Ava unnatural reaction at the mention of Oliver so she elbowed Charlie and glared at him to stop. Charlie also realized he probably shouldn't have mentioned Oliver so he quickly said, "Ava, I am sorry, if I said something wrong."

"It's OK. Let's sit and order something." Ava said with a bright smile. She quickly changed the subject and called the waiter to order food.

Ava's eyes fall on Charlie's and Mia's hands. They were wearing a couple's wedding rings. She smiled and said, "So, how is the married life serving you two? And although I know that Charlie saved you from an accident but I want to hear everything and how you two actually got together. "

Charlie smiled wide and looked at Mia with loving eyes and said, "Actually it was Sister Susan who played the matchmaker here and got us together."

"Well, even if I didn't intervene you two would have gotten together anyway. You were so into each other that the whole hospital could tell that you were an item. But I am glad that I intervene, otherwise the way you would shy away from each other it would probably take years for Charlie to ask Mia out and another few years for Mia to accept." Sister Susan chimed in and shook her head.

Mia's face turn red with embarrassment and Charlie chuckled and said, "True, and thank you for that, otherwise, how would I find such a lovely wife."

Ava smiled, she could see their love for each other, she was truly happy for her friends and prayed they will stay like this forever. "It's really good to see you two so happy together. Now you should think about having a baby, so when are you giving me a niece?" Ava said playfully.

"We can't right now, the hospital is so busy and all the responsibility is on Charlie so we won't be able to cope with a child right now. Maybe in a year or two." Mia said with a smile.

"Well, that's also a good idea. Enjoy each other's company as much as you can before adding a little member to your family."

"Ava, please tell me you are not planning to go back, right? Tell me you will stay." Mia said holding Ava's hand and looking at her expectantly.

"I am not really sure at this moment. Maybe I'll stay, maybe I'll go back." Ava said with an uncomfortable heart. She was very conflicted, if Oliver keep pushing her she will definitely go back and never come back. At that thought, she was angry at herself. Why she was so afraid of Oliver? She was even considering leaving forever.

"Girl, if you leave this time without saying goodbye I swear I will never talk to you again," Susan said in a slightly angry tone.

"Sister Susan, don't be like that. I promise I will not do that to any of you again. This time I will let you know in advance if I decide to leave."

"Ava I saw in the news that you got married again. How did you two meet?" Susan asked hesitantly.

"Well, we know each other from high school. He is also the son of my Piano teacher." Ava said with a smile.

Sister Susan stared at Ava she didn't know if she should ask her this or not but she couldn't help herself. She has witnessed how happy Ava and Oliver were together. After Ava left when her mother was admitted to the hospital, Oliver was always there and took care of everything as if she was his mother. She didn't know what happened between Ava and Oliver and why she left but she was shocked when she found out Ava married someone else. So she asked hesitantly, "Ava, do you love him?"

"Of course, if I didn't love him would I be married to him?" Ava said with a smile.

"Then, what about Oliver?" Sister Susan looked at Ava with complicated eyes. She didn't know why but when she saw Ava and Daniel together, although they looked like a loving couple but Susan felt like something was not right, it felt like a show rather than a real relationship. Maybe she has seen Ava and Oliver that's why she could tell.

Ava's heart missed a beat. She swallowed the lump that suddenly formed in her throat. She didn't know how to answer that, she never told anything about what had happened and why she left, she really couldn't explain it. So, Ava did exactly what she could in a situation like this, she changed the subject and completely dismissed the topic by saying, "Sister Susan, try this sweet and sour tenderloin. It's delicious."

Susan was smart enough to understand that she was prying into Ava's personal life but she felt frustrated so she said quietly, "Ava, although I don't know your husband but I know Oliver and if I were you I would choose him!"

Ava's whole face changed in an instant and anger started to boil in her, she looked at Susan and said coldly, "I don't understand why you people keep talking about Oliver and always take his side. If it was not for him then I wouldn't have lost my child three years ago. Please don't talk about him in front of me again."

Susan and Mia exchanged a look with each other and Mia shook her head and Susan said in a low voice, "I am sorry Ava, I shouldn't have said that. Please don't be angry. Let's eat." Susan decided to keep her mouth shut, maybe she did cross the line by saying all these things.

"Sister Susan, I'm not angry, I just don't want to talk about Oliver. We are over and I hope you can understand and respect that."

The atmosphere suddenly became so tense that no one could breathe. Charlie looked at the three women and decided to step in to ease the atmosphere, he said with a smile, "The food is really delicious, Ava, try the fish it's good. You know the hospital has been so busy we hardly get a chance to eat outside. I am so glad you invited us outside today, it's good to have food outside sometimes, what do you think Mia?"

"Yes, you are right. I feel like I haven't had such good food in a long time." Mia chirped in.

Just like that, the atmosphere eased up completely and they kept talking and laughing like old times. It was a fun night, the old friends relived past memories and shared some new ones with each other.
