A Perfect Man

Oliver mocked Ava, she felt embarrassed and got angry. She said angrily, "Oliver Knight! How dare you say that, who do you think you are to judge me? I was just praising you and look at you, your mouth is so vicious. You deserve to be single. Do you have any idea how hard I had to study to become a doctor? If you don't understand then don't talk nonsense. Do you think you don't have any flaws? What are you without the name of the Knight family? So stop being so arrogant."

Oliver's face turned livid. No one ever dared to talk to him like this let alone say something so spiteful. He hasn't seen her for the past 3 years and look at her, her mouth has become more like his. If anyone else dared to say these things to him he would kill him instantly but for some reason, Oliver's mood changed, he gave her a flirty look and said with interest, "Alright, tell me, what are my flaws?"

Ava was choked by the look and quickly bowed her head. Why was he looking at her like that? She was angry just now and said those things. How she is going to tell him his flaws? He will kill her if she said what exactly she thought of him. Ava swallowed at that thought and said, "I don't know."

"Why don't you know now? Didn't you just lecture me, about how I am nothing without my family name? So tell me. What! Did the cat get to your tongue? Don't have the ability to continue to lecture me anymore?" Oliver smirked and said sarcastically.

"You are right, I don't have the ability. I'm going home!" Ava pulled her feet, which were still on Oliver's lap to leave, however, Oliver held her leg tightly and refused to let go.

Ava got annoyed and said, "Oliver, let go. I want to go home"

"Ava, stop being so stubborn. I just put medicine on your leg and it's still raining outside. Do you want to crawl back home with an injured leg?" Oliver said indifferently.

Ava stopped, thinking what he said made sense. Moreover, she didn't even know where she was and in this weather, it will be very difficult to find a taxi or uber. So finally Ava calmed down and sat there quietly.

Oliver was satisfied when she stopped making trouble and obediently sat there. Suddenly Oliver said in an urgent voice, "Take off your clothes."

At first, Ava was stunned, she looked up and saw Oliver staring at her with a serious face. She blinked twice to see if she heard wrong but seeing Oliver still staring, her face become tense, she held her clothes tightly and asked stammering, "What..what do you want to do?"

"Aww Miss Green thinks she's so charming that I want to do her? Don't flatter yourself, I am not interested in used goods." Oliver said mockingly.

"Who are you calling used good? As if you are a saint and haven't been with anyone else." Ava barked out.

Oliver laughed and said, "Yeah yeah. Here take this and change your clothes before you catch a cold." Oliver reached out and stuffed a bathrobe into Ava's hand before he turned, and left to change his own clothes. He was so angry, he pinched his eyebrows to calm himself down, the woman dare to say he was a used good. Doesn't she know that he hasn't been with anyone but her? Damn that woman, Oliver cursed and disappear into his bedroom.

Ava was stunned, she stared at the bathrobe in her hand, her face was burning hot with embarrassment. What was she thinking? When did her mind become so dirty? He was just asking her to change her clothes and she was thinking bullshit. He must be laughing at her right now. What a shame! She wanted to dig a hole and bury herself inside.

Oliver came down after changing his clothes and picked up Ava's wet clothes to put them in the dryer. Ava was leaning on the couch with closed eyes. Oliver stared at her for a while, she looked so beautiful and innocent. For a second he had the illusion that they were back being husband and wife. However, within a second his trance broke and he shook his head in disappointment. Although it was not the case right now but it will happen eventually. With that thought, he came to Ava and asked in a low voice, "What would you like to eat?"

Ava opened her eyes and felt embarrassed seeing Oliver again she quickly looked away and said in a quiet voice, "I'm not hungry."

"There's only noodles at home. Will spaghetti work for you?" Oliver continued to ask as if he didn't hear her say she was not hungry".

At the mention of spaghetti Ava starts to feel a little hungry so she said lightly, "Yeah, it sounds good."

Oliver walked into the kitchen, and after a while, he came out with two plates of spaghetti with meatballs. It was so fragrant Ava's stomach churned smelling it. Ava walked toward the dining table and sat down. Ava was familiar with Oliver's cooking, she knew well how good and particular Oliver was about his cooking. He was the kind of man who did everything seriously, giving his hundred percent. A perfect man.

Oliver took out two sets of cutleries and handed one set to Ava, then with a little smile on his face he said, "Eat."

Ava never thought she would sit in front of Oliver again and have a meal made by him so she was still a bit uncomfortable but she ignored her feelings and dug into the food. Fortunately, the spaghetti made by Oliver tasted so good, Ava devoured it happily without the care of the world. After she finished, she wiped her mouth and looked at the man who was still having his meal lazily with small bites. She suddenly asked, "Why did you bring me here?"

Oliver looked at Ava's plate and seeing it was completely empty, a smile showed up on his cold face. He said lightly, "I'll tell you when I finish my food."

Ava was annoyed, she wanted to get up but it was impolite so she sat there even after she had finished her food. However, after a while, Ava felt even more annoyed seeing Oliver eating so slowly, she could not help but say, "You are such a big man. Why are you eating so slowly?"

"Do you think everyone is like you? Did a starving ghost give birth to you?" Oliver said without raising his head.

Ava was furious but she restrained herself to argue with him, finally, she said in a sweet voice, "Fine, eat as slowly as you can. Cold food doesn't have any nutrition anyway."

Oliver kept eating as if he didn't hear her at all, In fact, he was intentionally eating so slowly to delay Ava as much as he could. He knew the moment he told her why he brought her here, she would want to leave. And he was not ready to let her go yet.

Finally, Oliver finished his food! Ava habitually stood up to clean the dishes, however, Oliver stopped her and took the dishes from her, he went to the kitchen and start to wash the dishes himself.

Looking at him working in the kitchen like this Ava felt lost, she wanted to cry, isn't this all she ever wanted in her life? Simple happiness? Actually, when they were married, Oliver was very nice to her, treating her like a treasure especially when she was pregnant. He would shower her with love every day. Even after the accident, Oliver was very patient with her. If their child didn't die at that time, probably things would be different. Maybe she would still be with him.
