Ava came to the living room to greet Daniel but didn't see him enter so she went outside and was stunned to see Daniel was totally drunk and Jason was helping him out of the car.
Jason stopped the car at Daniel's front yard and called him a few times but Daniel kept babbling about things that didn't even make sense. Jason felt a headache. He opened the back door and called Daniel a few times before pulling him out of the car. "CEO Sherman, wake up. We are home."
"Danny?" Ava stared at him worriedly. She also never saw Daniel this drunk before, so naturally, she was a bit worried.
"Ava! My love, you are here. Are you here to pick me up?" Daniel shouted out and had no idea they were in the front yard of their house.
Ava was at a loss, she quickly walked to him and tried to support him, "Why did you drink so much, Danny?"
Daniel looked at Ava in a trance for a while then said in a low voice, "Hello, wifey."
Ava sighed and said, "Danny, you should not drink so much, It will hurt your stomach."
"Look Jason, my wife is so worried about my health."Saying that Daniel pulled Ava into an intimate hug and tried to kiss her.
Ava got a fright and quickly pushed Daniel away to free herself from his arm in fear he might try something else. She looked at Jason embarrassedly and said, "Jason please help me get Danny into the living room. I'll prepare some soup for him to sober up." Ava quickly turned and left without even looking back.
Jason called Daniel to keep him awake as he helped him to the living room stumbling all the way. On the way, he heard Daniel say in a sad tone, "Did you see that Jason? That's how my relationship is with my wife. We have been married for 2 years but she wouldn't even let me touch her. The most I can do is to hold her or kiss her on the forehead." Daniel said bitterly.
Actually just now seeing Ava a bad idea came to him. He thought if he force her into his drunken state and have sex with her then she wouldn't able to leave him, he could blame it on the alcohol tomorrow and apologize to her. So he intentionally hold Ava into his arm trying to be intimate with her however he didn't expect Ava to ruthlessly push him away and leave. Daniel now wondered if she ever going to accept him or if this was a losing war from the beginning!
Finally, everything clicked for Jason and he looked at Daniel in surprise. So this was the reason for his CEO to get drunk and babble about love all the way home. He never thought the relationship these two portrayed in front of the people was all fake. In private they were not like real husband and wife. What surprised him, even more, was the way they could hide it so well. Even he couldn't tell who was very close to Daniel and would spend most of the time around him.
Jason finally was able to bring Daniel inside and help him to the living room couch, which was not really an easy job. Daniel was about 6 feet tall and had built physic so Jason was panting by the time he put Daniel on the couch. However, he didn't leave afterward and stood there hesitating about what to say to his CEO to comfort him.
Daniel closed his eyes and leaned on the couch, feeling Jason's presence there he said lightly, "You can go now, Jason."
However, Jason still hesitated, "CEO Sherman..."
But before he could say anything Daniel said, "Jason, don't worry I am not as pathetic as you think. Just leave." Daniel didn't like to express his troubles with other people much so he kept all his feeling, and worries to himself, but tonight he told his assistant a bitter truth about his life. Maybe it was the alcohol or maybe he was overwhelmed by the fear of Ava leaving him but he had to speak to someone.
"Yes, CEO Sherman". Jason didn't say anything else and left quietly. Although he would never admit it to Daniel but he did feel pity for his CEO. Who knew Daniel who was so high-spirited and so good and decisive in the business world had a fake private life?
Daniel sat there with closed eyes still thinking about how Ava was repulsive of his touch, if he still tried to have sex with her tonight, she will surely divorce him tomorrow. He has been waiting for years trying to be as patient as he could but now he really felt worn out.
