Daniel felt sad about how things had turned out between them. He thought he had a chance with her. He still remembered the day he went to see Ava at Oliver's place. She looked so lost and withdrawn from life. His heart broke for her thousand times just looking at her. So when she asked for his help to run away from Oliver, he just couldn't say no. He designed a plan to get Ava away from Oliver without any hesitation. His morality wouldn't allow him to do such things but the sadness, despair, and desperation in her eyes were so intense, he couldn't stop himself. At that time he didn't think of having Ava for himself, he just wanted to rescue her from Oliver so he got her a payphone to contact him and hired actors and a Bus to orchestrate a fake accident. He was a man of law and an investigator so he knew the loopholes well. He took care of everything so efficiently that even till now no one could tell that accident was not really real. The dead bodies they found at the accident spot were already dead people from a hospital morgue. Everything was staged. The actors along with Daniel and Ava got off the bus before they pushed it off the cliff making it look like a real accident. Since the weather was bad and there was no camera on the highway, it was even easier for him to go through with his plan. Daniel spent a hasty amount of money to keep everything under wrap and went to the US with Ava using a fake ID. After living with her under the same roof Daniel started to fall hard for Ava once more.
Ava came out of the kitchen holding and bowl of soup and saw Daniel lying on the couch. She thought Daniel was asleep so she sat beside him and called him in a low voice trying to wake him up. "Danny, wake up! Please drink this soup and go back to sleep in your room or else you will have a hangover tomorrow morning."
Daniel was actually awake when he heard footsteps he pretended to be in deep sleep. He heard what Ava say but still didn't open his eyes. He wanted to see what Ava does next.
Ava couldn't wake Daniel up even after trying several times. She even tried shaking him awake but he was sleeping like a dead log. If it wasn't for his breathing Ava would've thought he was dead. "Danny! This isn't funny anymore, wake up! Or I'll pour water on you." Still no response, so Ava got really angry, "Danny, why did you drink so much? Didn't you know the doctor forbade you to drink like this? Why don't you listen, do you want your stomach to bleed to death?"
Daniel suddenly opened his eyes and looked at Ava with a lot of emotion in his eyes, "Ava, if one day I die, will you feel sorry for me?"
Ava was even angrier now, she stood up abruptly and said with emotion, "What nonsense are you talking about? What will I do if you are dead? And what about Nina? How could you even think about leaving us alone?"
"I am sorry Wifey," Daniel sat up and pulled Ava into his arm.
This time Ava didn't push him away, she understood he needed some comfort right now so Ava put her head on Daniel's chest and sat there listening to his steady heartbeat. They both stay like that for a while before Ava suddenly asked, "Danny, why did you drink so much tonight? Is something bothering you?"
Daniel smiled deeply, but his body was slightly stiff. "I can't hide anything from you, can I? What if I say, I've hidden something from you?" He was thinking about the possibility of Orion being Ava's son. He hid it from Ava because he was afraid she will leave him if she found out.
Ava thought for a while then said in a serious tone, "Danny I trust you, you wouldn't wrong me in any way. Even if you hid something from me that must be for my own good so I will never blame you."
Daniel tightened his hold on Ava and felt a little guilty but he said in a steady and sincere voice, "Thank you Ava for trusting me so much. I will never do anything to ever hurt you. You and Nina are my world, as long as you and Nina are by my side I can overcome anything in this world."
This time Ava was feeling guilty because she was really uncertain about the future. Oliver gave her a month of ultimatum, she didn't even want to think what he will do after the month time ends. Ava lowered her eyes and said, lightly, "Alright! Now drink the soup before it gets cold and then go to bed."
Daniel stared at Ava and suddenly said with a little hesitation, "Ava, tonight can you stay with me? I promise I won't do anything to you."
Ava froze; she couldn't do that but she also didn't know how to refuse him. It's not that she doubted Daniel's word. She knew he was a complete gentleman, if he says he wouldn't touch her then he wouldn't, but she has never slept with another man except for Oliver. Even when she slept with Daniel before in the same bed, Nina was always there between them. Ava bit her lips and in the end, she said, "but, what about Nina? What if she wakes up in the middle of the night and gets scared? Why don't you come to my room instead and we can all sleep together."
Daniel understood Ava's dilemma but he didn't say it out loud instead he said with a smile, "You are right, I forgot Nina was sleeping alone. Why don't you go to your room, I'll take a shower and come to your room."
"OK." Ava smiled and went back to her room, however she couldn't help but feel conflicted. She could understand Daniel's rush to make her accept him and probably she would be able to do it if she didn't have the encounters with Oliver. The more she got close to Oliver more she hesitated to be with Daniel and even felt that she wronged Daniel.
Daniel stared at Ava's leaving back and sighed. Why does he feel like even if he gets to conquer her body, he will never be able to win her heart? She will always see him as his friend and never return the love he felt for her. Daniel felt sad at that thought but he didn't know how to let go. He picked up the bowl and drank the soup slowly. Even though he didn't have to because he has sobered up the moment Ava pushed him away outside.
