Court Notice

The next morning at Hope charity foundation.

Ava's assistant received an important delivery for Ava, so she immediately bought it along with some other letters.

"Miss Ava you have an express delivery."

"Thanks, Jane please put it on the table I'll check it later," Ava said without raising her head. She has been very busy since morning, so she didn't bother to check the papers right away. She just assumed it probably would be more requests for funds from hospitals so she decided to check them after she finished her work.

"OK, Miss Ava" Jane put all the letters on Ava's desk and left quietly.

Ava didn't move from her chair till noon and by then her back started to pain and her neck felt stiff, so she decided to move around and make some coffee and snacks for herself. When she was preparing coffee, her phone started to ring. Ava glanced at the screen, instantly her mood got ruined. She ignored the call and kept pouring coffee, however, after a while her office land phone started to ring. Ava put down her coffee and hurriedly picked up the call.

"Hello, Hope Foundation. Ava speaking." Ava said in a soft voice.

"Do I have to call you in the office directly from now on since you are so unwilling to pick up my call on your mobile?" Oliver said coldly, he was agitated that Ava always ignored his call. After that night he called her a few times but she always ignored him. He just wanted to ask her about her ankle but she wouldn't even pick up. Oliver was frustrated.

Ava wanted to slap herself for not checking the caller id. She rolled her eyes and said leisurely. "CEO Knights, What can I do for you?"

"I just wanted to tell you personally that we have to make our first appearance in court on the 20th of this month, Be prepared! By now you must have received the court notice. I hope you are ready to fight against me, Ava Knight." Oliver said with a smirk and hung up without giving her any chance to respond. Ava knight! He pressed on her last name to remind her she was still a Knight to him.

Ava was dumbfounded hearing Oliver she couldn't talk for a while and even didn't notice that Oliver had already hung up. She kept seating there holding the receiver and trying to process the information. Court case? Appearance? So Oliver actually filed a lawsuit against her? Ava put down the receiver and quickly picked up the letter from the table and sure enough, there was a letter from the court. Ava opened the letter and read it carefully, he actually filed a case against her for adultery. She clenched her fist angrily and called Molly.

Molly received Ava's call and immediately knew something was wrong so she dropped the work she was doing and came to Ava running.

"So, what's up? Who dared to cross your road today and made you so angry?" Molly joked and sat down lazily. That was Molly's style, the more troublesome a situation gets the more she will be calm and collected.

"Who else can do it? Oliver of course! Look at this." Ava said angrily and handed the court notice to Molly.

Molly read the notice carefully and joked, "you two really are husband and wife, both of you have the same ruthlessness. He really filed a case against you for adultery."

"Girl, do you have a conscience? How can you joke at a time like that? What do I do now?" Ava felt like a headache was coming. She was not irritated that Oliver filed a lawsuit, it was expected of him. But what really worried Ava was that, since Oliver was involved, the case surely will be a high profile case and therefore all the leading media will be covering it. In fact, by now the news of his lawsuit must be out. She will be all over the news again because of this man. This will not only affect her but also affect Daniel, Nina, and the A&D group. This news can crash A&D group's Share price and cause the company to face a lot of financial trouble. A&D is a rising company, and this piece of news can ruin its reputation.

"Yes, Madam. I'll respond to the notice. But Ava we have already discussed it before, there is really a very slim chance that you will win the case even if you hire the best lawyer in the city. Oliver Knight is a very influential and powerful person, it's difficult to win against him on top of that you don't have any proof that you have signed any divorce papers before you left, so you are already guilty by the law."

"With the charges will I be imprisoned?" Ava asked worriedly. She remembered the other day Oliver said if she didn't divorce Daniel she will have to go to prison.

"Oh Yeah, but don't worry," Molly said, with a solemn expression. "It'll probably be only two to three years. You will come out like a gangster."

Ava picked up a ball of paper and threw it at Molly and shouted out "Are you crazy? You want me to be in prison for two years?" Ava tried to calm herself down and asked again, "Do I have any other way?"

"I already told you that before. Talk to Oliver and settle it privately. There is no other way but you are too stubborn to listen to me." Molly said helplessly. They have discussed this several times but each time Ava refused to see Oliver and settle it in private. She really didn't know how else she could help her friend.

"You don't get it, Molly. He won't drop the case unless I go back to him." Ava sighed helplessly.

Molly stared at Ava and said with a smile: "So he filed the case to get you back? Wow, I never knew CEO Knight is so determined to get his woman back."

"Don't make jokes Molly, this is serious." Ava started to rub the side of the temple and said frustratingly. She can't go to prison, and neither can she go back to Oliver so what does she do now?

Suddenly Molly become serious and said, "Ava listen to me, as I said earlier you won't be able to win against Oliver. So stop being stubborn and do what it takes to make him drop the case. It's not only your reputation that is at stake."

Ava looked at Molly in disbelief and said slowly, "So you want me to divorce Daniel and go back to Oliver?"

"Ava do you think you have a choice? Now that you are back do you think Oliver will not investigate how you escaped three years ago? And once he finds out how you and Daniel orchestrate an accident to run away, what do you think he will do?"

Blood drained from Ava's face. She never thought about that before and Molly was right. If she kept refusing, Oliver might start investigating how she escaped. Who knows he might be already investigating it, once he finds out the truth he will kill Daniel. Ava closed her eyes in agony, so is this her destiny? Getting tortured by the devil every single day for the rest of her life?

"Molly, is there really no chance at all?" Ava asked in a dejected tone.

Molly felt pity for her friend she wants her friend to be happy but she also didn't want to give her false hope. Molly held Ava's hand and said in a sincere voice, "Ava, I understand that you don't want to go back to Oliver but he is too powerful to mess with. You and Daniel never should have gone against him. Nevertheless, as your friend, I will always stand by you and I will try my best to fight for you."

Ava was touched, she said in a choked voice, "Thank you, Molly." However, Ava knew there was no other way. She has to talk to Oliver and plead with him to drop the case.
