The next morning, a faint light rose on the eastern horizon, gradually illuminating the whole sky. Ava opened her eyes and looked outside through the window, it was so quiet so serene but her mind was a mess. She couldn't sleep all night thinking about how she was going to tell Daniel that she wanted a divorce. Everything happened so suddenly, her mind still couldn't wrap around the things that were happening. Just yesterday she thought she was going to clear the misunderstanding between Daniel and her but today she was about to ask for a divorce. Really life is very unpredictable. She wished last night didn't happen and when she woke up this morning everything was just like before. But she knew it was just her wishful thinking. Ava sat up on the bed holding her temple, her head was aching from lack of sleep and all the crying.
Ava's movement woke Sarah who was sleeping beside her. She also didn't sleep well last night. Seeing Ava up, she also sat up, "Good morning, sister." Sarah said lightly.
"Sarah, I need you to stay here for a few days and look after Nina, I need to go to the US to sort out my divorce with Daniel. I'll inform Mom." Ava said in a calm voice.
Sarah stared at Ava for a few seconds before saying, "OK." lowering her head, she still felt responsible for Ava and Daniel's divorce.
Ava jumped out of bed and went to the bathroom to get freshen up. When she came downstairs Daniel was working in the kitchen making breakfast for them. The familiar scene that she was so used to for the last three years instantly made her eyes wet, she couldn't hold back the tears, how she was going to tell him that she want to divorce him? How she was going to break his heart? This man who gave up his life, career everything for her, how she was going to betray him and leave him? Ava ran to the bathroom downstairs and cried silently. After a while when her emotions were in control Ava came out, by then Daniel has already set the table, and Nina and Sarah were sitting at the table.
Seeing Ava coming out of the bathroom, Daniel smiled softly and greeted her. "Good Morning."
"Good Morning," Ava said without meeting his eyes as she sat there at the dining table.
Daniel could tell Ava was not in a good mood, her eyes looked swollen as if she cried all night but when he saw Sarah also looked the same he just assumed it was because of what happened yesterday. He didn't want to make them uncomfortable so he didn't ask any questions, instead, they all ate silently. If he only knew a storm was about to hit him so hard that he was going to lose everything.
After they finished breakfast Ava asked sister Li to clean the table and told Sarah to take Nina to her room to play. She turned to Daniel and said in a quiet voice, "Danny, can I please talk to you in the study, it's important!" She still couldn't look him in the eyes, the guilt, grief, despair everything was crawling through her heart making it unbearable.
Daniel suddenly had a bad feeling, he has never seen Ava like this before. Still, just like the patient man he was, he decided to follow her. As they turned to go to the study the doorbell rang. Ava and Daniel both stopped and looked at each other puzzled. They were not expecting anyone so who was at the door so early in the morning?
Sister Li opened the door and a man came inside with long strides. Ava was dumbfounded seeing him, her heart shook, she still hadn't told Daniel and now he was here. While Daniel was confused and a little pissed, the man he hated the most in the whole world was standing in his own house. But why? Why was Oliver Knight at their house?
Daniel took a few steps and asked Oliver, "CEO Knight, what are you doing? How can you come to someone's house uninvited like this?" Daniel's tone was full of hostility.
Oliver scoffed and said indifferently, "I am here to take my wife home."
Ava felt she could not breathe anymore. She told him she will go to the US today and sort things out with Daniel but she never expected Oliver to show up and say it to his face. Ava wanted to tell Daniel personally so he could have some dignity left after all who wants to fall apart in front of their enemy but Oliver's sudden appearance ruined everything. How cruel of him to do something like that. Then again it was not Oliver's fault, she could have told Daniel last night instead she chose to wait till morning. It was her, who delayed the inevitable. Ava closed her eyes feeling despair.
