Divorce

Daniel clenched his fist and took another step toward Oliver as if he was going to beat him up, he said through gnashing teeth, "Oliver, who is your wife? Ava left you three years ago. You two are not together anymore you cannot just say stuff like that."

Ava saw Oliver was looking at her, she swallowed and looked away.

Oliver already knew she didn't tell him. He felt upset. Why didn't she tell him yet? was it so difficult for her to leave him? Oliver said looking at Ava, "It's funny, Ava, haven't you told him yet?"

Daniel froze, he looked back and forth between Ava and Oliver puzzled, and asked Ava, "Haven't told me what? What's going on Ava?"

"Danny, that's what I was going to talk to you about before Oliver showed up. Let's go to the US and get a divorce today." Ava's voice trembled as the tears ran down her eyes slowly. She couldn't look at him, the horror on Daniel's face was too much for her to bear but she had no choice. She has to do it, she has already made a promise to Oliver.

"What did you say?" Daniel couldn't breathe, he stood there completely dumbfounded staring at Ava, he still couldn't believe his ears. Did she just say she wanted a divorce? No… no… no his biggest fear has come true, she wants to leave him. Daniel felt his heart break into thousand pieces, he stood there for a while unable to say a single word.

When he could say something his voice still choked, "Ava, why? Didn't you promise you would never leave me? Then Why?" He looked at her pleadingly praying it was a prank and she was just joking. But Ava's guilty eyes didn't even look at him. He suddenly turned and raised a fist to punch Oliver. It must be him, he must have done something for Ava to change her mind all of a sudden. He was the reason Ava was asking for a divorce, he was going to kill Oliver. "Oliver you bastard, what did you do? Did you threaten her with something?"

However, Oliver had already seen through Daniel, so he easily dodged his attack. He smiled and said coldly, "What if I did? She is my wife but three years ago you dared to take her away from me. You should have known that you can never keep something that doesn't belong to you."

"No, I will never agree to divorce Ava, Oliver please leave now, or I'll call the police for trespassing," Daniel said angrily. He couldn't accept this, he can't let her go. He will fight for her, he was sure Ava was doing this out of fear, if he could assure her that Oliver can't harm them then she won't leave. Daniel turned to Ava and held her hand tightly then said in a desperate voice, "Ava you don't have to be scared of him. I will not let him take you away, I promise. He can't harm me or Nina. Please Ava have some faith in me."

However, Ava pulled her hands back out of his hand and looked at him with sad eyes, "No Daniel, it's not that. He didn't threaten me or force me. I want to go back to Oliver because I still love him."

Daniel shook his head like a madman as he said, "I don't believe you, Ava. You have told me many times before you have no love for him then what changed Ava? How suddenly you are in love with him again?"

Ava lowered her head and said in a low voice, "I lied! I have always been in love with him and after I came back I realized it more."

Daniel couldn't accept it he shouted out angrily, "I will never agree to divorce you, Ava, no matter what. I will not let you go."

Oliver was now very annoyed hearing Daniel, he said coldly, "Daniel stop being so stubborn if you want the A&D group to survive."

Daniel turned to Oliver his eyes were bloodshot, "Oliver don't think I will be scared by your threats, you can't do anything to me."

Oliver smiled and said in an uninterested tone, "Are you sure about that Daniel? You know I have some very good friends at the Ministry of finance, I am sure the tax department there will be thrilled to look into your company's financial records. Divorce Ava immediately and I will let you go Daniel. You cannot look after Ava if you have no business at all and don't forget the loan you took when you started the company on top of that the land you just purchased from Henry. With all of that A&D has no chance at all. Are you sure you want to risk it all?"

Daniel's face turned pale instantly, how did he know all that? Ava also noticed Daniel's reaction and knew what Oliver said was all true. She closed her eyes and made the decision instantly. She can't let Oliver destroy A&D. It was Daniel's hard work that made the company what it is today, she didn't have any future with him anyway so why let him choose between her and the company? He has already sacrificed enough for her, no more. She has to do it, she has to be cruel enough to break his heart, and only then he will let her go.

Ava took a deep breath and wiped her tears then said coldly, "Enough, both of you. There is no need to bring A&D into this. Danny, you know very well that I have never had any kind of romantic feelings toward you, you were always like a friend and a brother to me. I tried but I couldn't fall in love with you. After I came back I realized I still love Oliver and that's why I want to go back to him. Please cooperate and come with me to the US so we can settle the divorce as soon as possible. "
