Locked himself

Ava's house at Bay,

The house has been in a mess since Ava left. Nina was looking for Ava but Sarah kept distracting her but when she left after Ava came back Nina started to cry and ask for Ava all the time, refusing to eat, drink or sleep, throwing tantrums. Daniel has locked himself up in the bedroom since he came back from the US. Sister Li didn't know how to handle the situation but Daniel strictly told her not to call Ava. So she had no choice but to try to coax the child with lies like Ava was abroad because of work and she will come back as soon as she was done with work.

At night Jason came to look for Daniel as he has been out of reach since Daniel called and informed him that he will be out of the country for two days. However he still couldn't reach Daniel after two days, there were very important issues at the company that needed Daniel's immediate attention, but Daniel was nowhere to be found. It was completely out of Daniel's character to disappear like this so Jason was a bit worried that something has happened. He rang the doorbell impatiently as he stood at the door. Sister Li who was finally able to put Nina to bed, came running down to open the door.

"Mr. Pei?" Sister Li was a bit surprised because it was around 11:00 o'clock.

"Sister Li, is CEO Sherman home?" Jason asked anxiously and prayed that he was.

Sister Li paused then said slowly, "Yes, he is in the bedroom."

Jason sighed in relief and started to walk toward Daniel's bedroom. Jason knocked on the door and called out for Daniel but there was no response. He turned the handle of the door and found it was locked, Jason looked at sister Li and asked, "Sister Li, are you sure CEO Sherman is inside? Why won't he reply?"

"Yes, he is inside. He hasn't left since he came back from the US. He has locked himself inside." Sister Li said hesitantly. She didn't know if it was ok to tell an outsider about this but she was also worried because for the last 2 days Daniel hasn't come out, eaten, or drunk anything, she was also getting worried, he will fall sick if this keeps going on.

"What! CEO Sherman went to the US? Why didn't he say that he was going to the US? Do you know what's going on here? And where is Miss Ava?" Jason was completely confused. Why would Daniel go to the US suddenly?

"Umm…I think Mr. Sherman and Madam got divorced. I am not sure but I heard Madam asking for a divorce and also asked Mr. Sherman to accompany her to the US to do the formality. Mr. Sherman left that day and came back after two days and since he came back he locked himself down there. I haven't seen Madam since then." Sister Li said sadly. She was also hesitant because she didn't know for sure if they got divorced but Ava didn't show up after she left with him that day so she assumed Ava has left.

Jason stood there completely dumbfounded unable to react for a while. He couldn't believe his ears, they got divorced? How was it possible? Then Daniel remembered the other night Daniel was drunk, he told him, Ava and him, were not really together. So Jason understood it, but why would Ava suddenly ask for a divorce? Did they have a fight or something? "Sister Li, do you have a spare key to this room? I need to check on CEO Sherman to make sure he is alright." Jason has already seen how much Daniel loved Ava so he was worried Daniel would do something stupid.

Sister Li thought for a while then remembered Ava once told her where she left the spare keys in the house so she nodded and ran to get them.

Jason started banging on the door now, "CEO Sherman, please open the door. There is something urgent I need to discuss with you about the company. CEO Sherman, open the door." He thought if he reminded Daniel about his responsibility for the company he would definitely care and open the door, after all the company was the outcome of his hard word. However neither Daniel opened the door nor did he respond.
