Ava opened the door and became furious to see the face in front of her. Jacob, dressed in a designer blue suit, stood at the door with a radiant smile on his face. Seeing Ava he asked in a playful tone, "How are you doing, baby!"
Ava stared at him and asked angrily, "Jacob, what the hell are you doing here? This is Green Villa, you don't have any business here, get out or I'll call the police for trespassing."
Jacob laughed heartily and ignoring her he entered the house. "Oh, baby, don't be so angry, it's not good for your skin. And for your kind information, I do have business here." Jacob's unruly smile hung around his lips as he sat on the sofa with crossed legs.
Lily came out of the kitchen hearing the noises and instantly became mad seeing Jacob sitting on her living room couch. She wanted to scold him but she was too angry to even talk.
Ava looked at him and asked calmly, "What do you want now?" She couldn't understand why he was here at her home.
"What do you think?" Jacob smirked and asked lazily.
"Jacob stop playing games, if you have anything to say then say it or leave. I don't have time to waste on you." Ava said angrily and pointed her finger toward the direction of the door. Seeing Jacob again she was disgusted by him. She couldn't understand how she couldn't see his true face before.
"Oh sweetheart, I am not playing games and I am not here to talk. I am here to take back what is mine," Jacob said still smiling.
"Which is?" Ava asked confused.
"This house, of course!" Jacob said as he laughed out wildly.
Ava and Lilly both stood dumbfounded. What does he mean by his house? When did Green Villa become his house?
"Jacob, what nonsense are you spouting? When did Green villa become your house?" Ava frowned and asked angrily but inside she suddenly had a bad premonition.
"When? That old man didn't tell you, did he? Well, that was expected." Jacob's tone and eyes looked amused as if he was enjoying this too much. He said with a smile, "Let me tell you sweetheart, last month the company received a contract and because there wasn't enough capital to fund the project, he mortgages this villa to the bank. Now that company is in trouble, I bought this house from the bank."
Ava froze! her voice shook when she said, "That's not possible. Jacob, stop lying. your tricks won't work."
"Oh, silly girl I am not lying. let me prove it to you." Jacob took out his phone and called his Lawyer. "Mr. Alan, are you here yet?"
"Yes Mr. Adam, I am here." A man wearing a black suit entered Ava's house and came to the living room.
"Hello Mrs. Green, Miss Green, I'm Boris Alan, Mr. Adam's lawyer. I am here to inform you that Mr. Adam has bought this property from the bank. Here are all the legal documents, house contracts, and transfer papers. You have two days to empty the house before Mr. Adam can take over." Mr. Alan said in his professional tone.
Ava stared at the man in front of her as all the blood left her face. She looked at the documents in his and with trembling hand she took it. Ava read every line, of every page twice to make sure she was not making any mistakes.
It's true! Her father did mortgage the house, and Jacob brought it from the bank. Ava felt dejected at the moment, this house was their last hope to get James out. What they're going to do now? How they are going to get James out of the jail? Ava turned and looked at her mother with a painful expression. Lilly stood there frozen like a lifeless statue, Ava came to her and said in a soft voice, "Mom, don't worry, we will be fine."
Ava turned and looked at the lawyer then said calmly, "Mr. Alan, we don't need two days, we will leave the house right away." Ava pulled Lilly and headed toward their room to pack up.
Jacob saw Ava walking away completely ignoring him he called out in a familiar soft voice, "Ava, Stop!"
However, Ava didn't stop, in fact, she started to walk faster as if she needed to run away from him. Seeing that Jacob felt a pang in his heart he ran after her and before she could enter her room he held her wrist.
"How dare you Jacob, let go of me," Ava shouted and pushed Jacob away with all her strength. There was a look of disgust in her beautiful eyes.
Jacob hesitated but let go, he said softly, "Ava, I don't like to see you sad like this. Whether you believe me or not, I do love you. If you want, you can stay here, I don't want to kick you out of this house. Leave your job and stay at home with me. I will marry you and we will live happily. I promise you won't have to worry about anything for the rest of your life."
Ava stared at him in disbelief, then she suddenly started to laugh hysterically. Jacob flinched at the sound of her laugh but didn't say anything. Once Ava's laughing fit stopped, she said in an indifferent tone, "Wow, Jacob I can't believe you just said that. You really have some nerve, claiming that you love me after cheating on me and framing my father. Well Thank you for being so generous but I would rather stay single for the rest of my life than marry you." Ava turned but Jacob stopped her again.
"Ava please, I don't love Poppy, I never did. I was just angry because you were always so ignorant toward me, so stubborn to do whatever you wanted to do. You never cared about how I felt, so I wanted to punish you."
Jacob said in a tone full of grief. What he said was true, Poppy was just a chess piece for him to take down Green Enterprise. He always liked Ava for her sweet personality. Although his purpose for approaching her at the beginning was to get back at James, but after knowing her he started to like her, she was so radiant, so beautiful, always optimistic, determined to do good, and always ready to help people, he didn't even know when he fell for her.
Now that he had achieved his goal of taking down the company, and sending James to prison, Jacob suddenly felt like something was missing in his life. He should be happy because his revenge was complete but instead his heart felt empty. Seeing Ava today he realized it was her, that has been missing.
"Well, mission accomplished Mr. Adam. You have punished me in the worst possible way. I have loved you with all my heart, dreamed to marry you, having a family with you, grow old with you but now I am left with nothing but a broken heart. So congratulation Mr. Adam!" Ava didn't wait for him to continue she entered her room and locked the door. Two strings of tears fell from her eyes as she walked to her closet to pack up.
Ava and Lilly left the Green Villa only with two big suitcases and went to a hotel for the time being. Ava had to go to work so after dropping her mother she went to the hospital. She felt helpless, she didn't have any friends or family to ask for help. At lunch, she looked for a small apartment near the hospital.
Luckily by Saturday, Ava found an old apartment. The apartment was small but clean and was ok for two people so without wasting any time they moved in. Ava could not help but wonder if she brought this upon her family, if only she didn't fall for the wrong person this would not have happened.
