Coming up with a solution

Lily was thunderstruck to hear about Jacob, there was a complex emotion in her eyes. They treated Jacob like their son, how could he do such a thing? Not only did he cheat on her daughter but also stole money from their clients and framed James for that. Lilly started to shake from anger as she said, "How despicable!"

Lilly's eyes welled up again, what are they going to do now? She was too emotional to think about anything or come up with a solution to their problems. However, Ava stayed strong for both of her parents. At that moment she didn't focus on Jacob's betrayal, instead, she was thinking about how to get her father out. If Jacob has been planning this for a while then he must have fabricated enough evidence to cover all his tracks well. So finding evidence against him would be very difficult. Right now to get James out they only had one choice left, which was to fix the six million Dollar fund loopholes. Now, the problem was it was a huge amount, how were they going to manage that much money in a short time to pay for the dispute?

Ava suddenly asked her mother with furrowed eyebrows, "Mom, do you know how much liquidity we have at this moment?"

Lilly was stunned! She was very amazed at how Ava was handling the situation so calmly. She felt proud seeing her daughter becoming so strong. Ava's strong will gave her some strength, she blinked away the tears and said in a low voice, "A little more than a million."

"But Ava, the police are still investigating it, I am sure they will find out the truth soon. Your father didn't do it so they won't hold him accountable for the fraudulence." Lily said anxiously.

Lily couldn't think of any way to pay for the debt so she hoped the police will be able to find the truth and let James go. Otherwise, everything will be lost. The company was already having trouble running the daily operations, now if the news of fraudulence comes out then the Green Enterprise will be completely destroyed! And James will have to pay for a crime he didn't commit.

Ava laughed bitterly, if only things were that simple. If Jacob could put him behind the bar then he will make sure that James stayed there. They won't be able to get James out without settling the money dispute. She didn't want to explain this to her mom and make her more worried so she said lightly, "Yes mom, but we cannot just keep relying on the police. We will have to try ourselves to get dad out first then we can deal with the company later."

"So what's your plan, Ave?" Lilly asked with creased eyebrows.

Ava bit her lips and said hesitantly, "We'll have to sell the house. It will cover the money that is stolen. Once the money is paid we can get Dad out."

Lily fell silent trying to process what Ava was saying. She could understand what Ava said made sense and seemed to be the only solution left for them right now. She looked around, they lived in this house for more than ten years. How many good memories they have made in this place, but Ava was right getting James out was their priority right now.

"Alright, we will do as you say. " Lilly said decisively.

Both mother and daughter were exhausted from the turn of events so they went to their bed, however, none of them could sleep the whole night. They just tossed and turned in the bed till dawn thinking about James. Ava hoped they would be able to sell the house soon and pay for the money so that her Dad could come out as soon as possible. However she also didn't want to put too much hope in that, she will have to think of another way in case this didn't work or selling the house took too long. Suddenly Ava's thoughts wandered to Oliver. How confidently she said to him that day that, they could handle their own business but now she realized she spoke too soon, her words seem to bite her back.

The following morning,

Both Lilly and Ava got up early as they could barely sleep. Lilly went straight to the kitchen to make breakfast to keep herself distracted, while Ava went to the living and sat there with her laptop on her lap and started to look at real state agencies to put the house up for sale. She felt hopeful to see their chances to sell the house were really good. The location of their house was already in a prominent area, on top of that the neighborhood they lived in was near public transport and the city center so it was in high demand. She just hoped it won't take them long to find a buyer. However, all her hope died when the doorbell rang.
