Company Crisis

After getting out of Jacob's apartment Ava could not hold her tears anymore, they run freely as she walk faster and faster to get far away from this place. Disgust crawled through her skin as she thought of all the time she had been with Jacob, although they didn't have sex but they would get intimate when they were alone. At those memory Ava's stomach churned and she threw up near the waste bin whatever lunch she had today. She dry heaved until there was nothing left. When she was done she sat there by the side of the road for a while longer then got up and started to walk like a soulless body.

Night fell on the whole city, the neon lights on the street lit up one by one. Ava walked aimlessly on the street, her eyes were red and swollen. She suddenly felt so hopeless, why did all this happen to her? Her family business is in trouble but she can't even help her father. The person she trusted the most backstabbed her in the worst possible way. What on earth did she do wrong? Jacob not only cheated on her by having an affair with Poppy behind her back, but he also planned to send her to Thomas Miller's bed. That's the worse betrayal ever, but why? Was it all for money, was money so important to him than the years they had been together? Did he ever love her? Ava felt lost, all these years together, all the memories, the laughter all became just lies.

Ava didn't know how long she has been walking around but she was feeling completely drained so she decided to go home and sleep, besides she needed to talk to her parents and tell them everything. She didn't know why Jacob did all that but she realized that if he could sell her for money, he could also do many shady things at the company, and she needs to warn her father. Ava hailed a taxi and went home.

When Ava reached home she was dumbfounded by the scene in front of her, there were several police cars in front of her house and some officers were standing there with guns in their hands. Ava's first instinct was her parent's wellbeing, she thought maybe there has been some kind of burglary happened in her House, Ava ran inside to check if her parents were alright but she froze at the door when she saw several policemen holding her father on the ground while Lily was crying hysterically and trying to pull the two policemen to prevent them from taking her father away. Ava came back to her senses when she heard her father's shouting.

"Ava, my daughter I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you, be careful of Jacob..." Before James could finish speaking, he was taken away by the police.

Ava panicked and ran after them, but by the time she came out, James was already inside the police car and the car was leaving their driveway. Ava stood there outside in a trance not understanding what just happened. Why her dad was taken away by the police? And why did he say to be careful of Jacob? Did he find out what he had done to her? Ava ran inside, she needed to ask her mom what exactly happened.

In the living room, Lilly was still sitting on the ground like a lifeless doll. Seeing her mother like this Ava's heart broke. She squatted down and held her mother in her arm then ask in a low voice, "Mom, what happened? Why dad was taken away by the police?"

Lilly looked at her and start to cry again. "Someone reported fraudulence against the company, the people from the income tax came to investigate the matter an hour ago and found more than six million dollars of fraud. Unfortunately, as your dad's sign was found in all the documents, the police had to take him away." Lily trembled.

"What are you talking about? That's impossible, Dad would never do anything like that, he must be framed..." As soon as Ava said that, something clicked in her mind. 'Be careful of Jacob' 'I will let you witness the downfall of your family and the Green Enterprise.' Ava's blood turned cold, it couldn't be a coincidence that someone reported it as soon as she got out of Jacob's apartment. It must be him, he must be the one who framed Dad. That's why he was so confident when he said those things, he must have already been planning this for a long time. Suddenly Ava's eyes widen in horror as she thought, did he do all the fraudulence in the company? It's possible, Poppy is the account manager so with her help he could easily get a hold of the company account and forge documents or swindle the client's money. Dad always trusted Jacob very much so it's also possible he would sign any documents Jacob asked him to without even reading them properly.

Ava suddenly felt numb to her core, who is Jacob? They have known each other for so many years yet not for once he gave out an impression of being such a shrewd person. For years he has been giving away a vibe of a simple sunny boy while inside he has been was plotting, planning, cheating, and deceiving everyone. Even her father who is such a wise man and could easily look inside a man, couldn't catch his bad intentions. You are good Jacob Adams, very good! Ava shivered and fell to the ground as tears start to fall again from her eyes. These days she has been crying so much, she wondered how she still had tears left in her eyes.

Lilly, who was unaware of the whole conspiracy looked at Ava and tried to comfort her, "Sweetie, don't worry, everything will be alright, we will find a way to get your father out?"

Ava looked at her mom with a pained impression, she has to tell her. Ava closed her eyes and took a deep breath then said in a broken voice, "Mom I need to tell you something." Ava told her everything about Jacobs's affair with Poppy, Thomas Miller, and her assumption about the possibility of Jacob framing her father.
