Ungrateful people

Jacob and Poppy were still entangled in each other's arms when they saw Ava. While Jacob had a panicked look on his face Poppy was calm and her eyes were full of provocation as she slowly got out of bed.

"Oh you two, don't stop on my account, I was just passing by," Ava said sarcastically as she stared at the man she trusted the most in the world. She never thought he would betray her like that. She felt like a fool for all the time she ever defended him.

"Ava, since you have seen it all, there is nothing to explain then. Poppy and I are together so you can just leave." Jacob didn't show any kind of remorse at all as he said calmly.

Ava was speechless at his shamelessness. Who was this man in front of her? She doesn't seem to recognize the Jacob she used to date for so long. That man used to be so considerate towards her, never opposing anything, never saying anything harsh, was it all an act? They were together for four years for God's sake, couldn't he show a little bit of guilt for what he had done to her? After Thursday night she felt guilty toward him for betraying his trust by sleeping with another man, even though it was not intentional. She thought he at least deserved an explanation from her after all these years together, now she understood she had been too naïve. He didn't deserve anything from her, In fact, if it wasn't for him plotting against her she wouldn't have slept with Oliver.

"Jacob! You don't have to be so mean to me, we've already broken up. I just feel sorry for myself that all these years I trusted you wholeheartedly just to be betrayed by you like this. You know what, you two are perfect for each other only you can put up with a woman like her." Ava said angrily.

"What do you mean by women like me, Ava? You think you are innocent, you are no better than me." Poppy said angrily as she held Jacob's arm.

"Oh Poppy, trust me honey I am nothing like you. All these years my family treated you so well, I treated you like a friend, and what have you done? You struck me on my back with your claws. Have you forgotten the most difficult time of your life, it was my father who supported you and filled out your tuition fees so you could finish your studies and have a good life. After you graduated, he even offered you a job as an accountant at the company. If it wasn't for my father you would probably rot in a gutter and how did you repay him? By having an affair with my boyfriend behind my back, you are nothing but an ungrateful bitch!" Ava couldn't keep the venom out of her tongue she was too hurt.

Poppy's face changed for a few seconds because she was feeling guilty now that Ava said those things to her face but she didn't want to show it so she rolled her eyes and said in a mocking tone, "Well, that's the attitude of rich people like you. You always think when you throw money at someone they would instantly become your loyal dog. Well guess what I am not a dog and for your kind information, I didn't seduce your boyfriend, we fell in love with each other. He was already fed up with you and I gave him what you couldn't so don't blame me for your failure."

Ava could not hear it anymore, Poppy hit where it hurt the most. Ava rushed forward and slapped Poppy hard.

Poppy was so shocked, she stood there holding her cheek for a while then she turned to Jacob and complained in an aggrieved tone, "Jacob, she hit me."

Jacob held his anger and did not say a word. After all, they both did betray her, it was probably his guilty conscience that made him hold his tongue at the moment.

Ava looked at Jacob, eyes full of disappointment as she said coldly, "Jacob, I never thought you were such an unfaithful person! You disgust me, I am really glad that we broke up and your true colors are out before we got married, you will have to pay for what you did, just wait and watch."

Jacob smiled scornfully and said arrogantly, "Dream on, we will see who pays for what. Start counting the day from today, Ava, and I promise, I will let you witness the downfall of your family and the Green Enterprise. I will wipe the name of your company from this earth."

Ava didn't wait for another second to here his ridiculous babblings, she was already feeling suffocated, she just turned and stormed off his apartment.

However, after Ava left Jacob lost it. He kicked the tea table with full force breaking it into pieces, he was outraged. He wasn't sure what he was angry about, was it because Ava said those hurtful things to him, or was it because she found out he has been cheating on her this whole time? Although he didn't show it but he did feel guilty.

Poppy quickly pulled Jacob to the nearby couch and made him sit down so he could calm down. She always gets scared when Jacob loses his temper. Poppy said in a soft tone, "Baby please, calm down. Don't listen to that bitch. She can't do anything to you, you know that. Besides you have all the balls in your court, if you strike now she and James won't even know how they got hit. So don't lose it over her."

Jacob calmed down hearing poppy, she is right. Although he didn't expect it to happen so soon, but this has been his plan all along and the time is perfect, let's fulfill the promise he just made to Ava. Before she tells her family he needs to make his move. Jacob went inside and picked up his phone from the bedside table then he dialed a number.
