Overhearing

Ava was still standing in the corner, she froze when heard the conversation between the two people. What made her more uncomfortable was the voice. She knew that voice, It was Oliver knight's voice.

"Mr. Knight, Michael Jones's hospitalization is a rare opportunity to cut him off from the company." Uncle Joe said in Oliver's ear.

Oliver held a cigarette between his fingers as he took a deep puff. His dark and calculative eyes were looking in the distance from the window. He said in a cold but low voice, "That's too much hassle. Finish him, make sure it looks like a natural death."

Uncle Joe was stunned. "Mr. Knight, don't you think you are being too cruel, he is your uncle after all. Madam won't be very happy if she finds out." Uncle Joe reminded him. He knew how much Oliver hated Michael, if it wasn't for his mother he would have killed him a long time ago.

"Isn't it because of her a corrupt person like him gets away every time with all his wrongdoing? I have given him enough chances yet he still didn't change his ways. I think it's time to put him in his place." Oliver said indifferently as his eyes narrowed slightly.

Ava didn't know what to do, she didn't mean to eavesdrop but now that she heard Oliver asking Uncle Joe to kill someone in cold blood she felt terrified. When Ava met him for the first time, she already felt this man was not simple, but she never thought he could be so ruthless. How could they just talk about killing someone standing at the hospital? But who were they talking about? What was the name.. was it Michael?....Michael Jones? Why does the name sound so familiar? Where has she heard it? Ava's mind was buzzing with questions when a voice bought her out of her thoughts.

"What are you doing here?"

The deadly voice made Ava shiver as she looked at the source of it. When did he come here? Why didn't she see him approaching her? Ava cursed herself for being so distracted just now. She swallowed but said in a calm voice, "I am a doctor here Mr. Knight but what are you doing here?

Oliver raised one of his eyebrows and looked at her coldly. "Why are you standing here if you are a doctor? Shouldn't you be looking at your patient rather than listening to other people's private conversations?" Oliver's asked coldly.

Ava opened her mouth to refute but his sinister eyes made her swallow her words. Seeing those cold eyes again she suddenly recalled that night. His eyes looked exactly the same that night, cold, demonic, devoid of any emotion. In a panic, she blurted out "I didn't hear anything." As soon as those words left her mouth, she cursed herself in her mind. Who would believe such lies? In front of this man, she seems to completely lose her mind.

"Really!" Oliver smirked and when saw the flustered look on Ava's face, his smile deepened.

"Then why are you so nervous, Miss Green?" Oliver took a step closer to her and said in a low but deadly voice.

"I am not!" Ava swallowed again and looked away. "I need to get back to work, I'll see you around Mr. Knight," Ava said as she pretended to check the time on her watch. She didn't want to be anywhere near this man, he screamed danger. Whatever he does has nothing to do with her, she already had enough on her plate, and she didn't need more troubles.

Oliver narrowed his eyes and pursed his lips slightly as he studied Ava for a few seconds. Interesting! This woman always acted unpredictably. He wondered if it was fate or his bad luck that they meet again here.

"Are you sure Miss Green that you didn't hear anything just now?" Oliver said in his magnetic voice.

"Positive!" Ava said calmly looking at him innocently. She was not crazy to admit that she heard him order Uncle Joe to murder someone. No way! If he found out he might order to kill her too. And she didn't want to die this soon.

"Alright remember what you said, Miss Knight. I am not known to be nice to liars.''

''Understood! Can I go now?" Ava's voice trembled slightly at his threat.

"Of course. See you around Miss Green." Oliver's lips curved upward as Ava almost ran away from the corridor.

Uncle Joe looked at Oliver and asked, "Do you still want me to do it, Mr. Knight?"

"No, let him be... for now. I guess his lucky stars paid off this time. But he won't always be this lucky." Oliver walked in the other direction and Uncle Joe followed him with relief. It was good that he met Miss Green or else Michael's blood would be in his hand.

"And Uncle Joe, keep an eye on her. I want to know what's going on with her lately." Oliver said indifferently.

"Yes, Mr. knight!"
