"How dare you barge into my house and arrest my son!" the mayor was furious as he lashed out at an officer.

The police chief entered the house and handed him the arrest warrant.

"Who cares about a freaking warrant?! I'm the mayor! I dare you to take him out of my house!" The mayor tore the warrant into pieces and stumped on them.

Superintendent Hua towered over the short but robust guy in a velvet bathrobe. "Mayor Li, who is the most powerful family in this city, whom you don't want to offend?"

"The He family of course..." Upon blurting out his answer, the mayor's face paled as if blood was drained from him, his mouth gaping. "You...you mean...the lady in the accident..."

"She is the precious daughter-in-law of Chairman and Madam He. If I were you, I would leave my son to the police, else he will just disappear without a trace. Plus, I will not sacrifice my position just to spoil my son."

Mayor Li felt electricity-like shock running down his spine. Cold beads of sweat started to form on his forehead. He then understood what were at stake for resisting the arrest.

Just then, Li Pei struggled as officers tried to drag him down the stairs.

Mayor Li became furious and slapped his son stunned. "You useless idiot! You never cared about the business and now you make trouble for everyone! You will go to jail to think about what you've done!"

"What? Why am I going to jail?! Father...you are the mayor. You can handle anyone, right? And it was just an unknown woman! Why would I go to jail for her?!" Li Pei's face was full of horror.

Mayor Li slapped him again to shut him up. "I had raised a monster with no regard for human life! Officers! Get him out of my house!"

As the officers were leaving the mansion, the police chief was the last to go and before he did, he tapped Mayor Li on the shoulder and whispered, "Good choice. But you know, the Young Madam is still in the ICU. You and your family better pray hard that she makes it. Otherwise, I cannot promise the safety of your son."

Mayor Li was in the brink of crying and pissing his pants as he stared at the blinking lights of the police cars which are driving away.

His wife is away for a spa with her friends and was unaware of what happened. She will lose it, but Mayor Li knew they would lose everything if they continue to resist.

"Sir, Li Pei is locked up behind bars now. Do you have orders?" Assistant Jiang reported to his boss who kept on staring out the window of his office.

He Zifeng kept his gaze to the view of the city. "Does he have tattoos?"

"Sir?" Assistant Jiang was confused, then adjusted his glasses. "Uhm...yeah...according to the records, he has several, on his..."

"I don't care where..." He Zifeng interrupted. "...get someone to scrub it all off."

Assistant Jiang's eyes widened for a moment, then his expression returned to being indifferent, much like his boss's. "Yes, Sir." He then tapped his phone to dial a set of numbers as he walked away and out of the office.

He Zifeng sighed. He really wanted to smoke. He was not totally hooked into smoking, but he did, sometimes, when Chen Kaori was in another country, but only when he was stressed out.

When Chen Kaori came back to work for him, she pointed out the smell of cigarettes from his office as she kept sneezing and coughing. He lied that he could not stop a client from smoking, thus the office was filled with the smell of cigarettes.

From then on, he really quit smoking, even when he was stressed out. He had people disinfect and deodorize everything in his office, to fully get rid of the smell, even throwing out imported rugs as they retained the odor. He never wanted to let her smell cigarettes on him again.

However, as he gazed through the window, he felt the desire to smoke. Chen Kaori was still unresponsive, and he was unsure if he has enough faith to believe that she will wake up.
