"Luna?"
I was catching my breathe trying to calm myself from what happened when I heard someone calling me.
"Luna! Wake up!"
I gasped when I felt something hit my arm. My breathing hitched when I saw Eli standing in front of me. I furrowed my brows and scanned the area. I'm still at the library. But I saw the outside from the window and it's already dark. I took a glance at my phone and saw that it was already 6pm.
"What happened?" I asked. Eli rolled her eyes at me.
"You slept. 'That' happened." she said sarcastically. I parted my lips.
"Where's Adam?" I hesitated to ask at first but I still did.
"Adam?" she asked me back. I nod at her.
"He's here with me awhile ago. We... We talked and..." I stopped.
I swallowed the lump in my throat when I realized what happened next. Adam... He's different. I can't explain but he's different.
"And what?"
I shook my head.
"Where is he?"
"He went home. He wasn't here since lunch. I saw him climbing to his car during our lunch break."
My forehead creased in confusion. He wasn't here? It's impossible! He's here! He's just here! He even... He even kissed me...
"But he's here." I uttered. Eli sighed deeply. She pointed at my phone the at the library.
"You slept for freaking two hours. Adam isn't here. Maybe you just dreamt of him."
My heart starts to race. I stood up and shook my head. It's impossible! It wasn't a dream! I felt him! He touched me! He kissed me!
"Luna, are you okay?"
I looked at Eli and her eyes soften when she saw me. I swallowed hard and I looked away when my eyes starts to water.
It can't be. It can't be always like this. If he's just a dream and all that happened was just my imagination, and I only made all of it, tricking myself then what? I am crazy?
"Luna, let's go home." Eli said and touches my arms. I nodded at her.
I remain silent as she gathered my things. I still don't believe it. What if she's wrong? What if Adam didn't left? What if he's really here awhile ago and I fell asleep after. Then all that happened was real. Eli just didn't know that.
"Thank God she's awake."
Eli and I both looked at the school librarian as she spoke. She glared at me before putting her eyeglass down.
"I want to go home too, ya know." she said.
I blinked when I realized something. Eli scoffed at her and she pulled me away when I stopped her.
"Wait Eli." I said and let go of her hand.Eli creased her forehead.
"What?" she arched her brows. I told her to wait for me then I walked to our school librarian. She is almost groaning when she saw me standing in front of her.
"I just want to ask something." I said.
She sighed deeply as if my presence is making her pissed. I stared at her.
"Make it quick." she folded her arms on her chest.
"Do you see someone awhile ago. A guy perhaps? Someone who talked to me." I asked.
She creased her forehead at me.
"No one came here aside from you."
"But! He's here! Maybe you just overlooked, but he came here." I almost shouted. She arched her brows as if she's really pissed right now.
"Excuse me. This isn't a place that students will choose to waste their time. I sat here almost ten hours a day to make sure that this place will stay quiet for 'some' students that will study. I sat here to make sure that no one will make out behind the shelves and I am devoted at my work. So you can't accuse me of overlooking my work. No one came here, not even a guy. So please excuse me, my shift is done." she said as she walked passed by me.
My lips parted and my shoulders are moving up and down because of my heavy breathings.
"Are you okay?" I heard Eli's voice behind me. I closed my eyes tightly and balled my hands into fist.
I took three deep breaths before I managed to look at her.
"I want to go home."
---
Eli is silent while walking beside me. The parking lot is dark and also quiet. I didn't say anything too after what happened in the library. Eli kept on glancing at me as if she wants to say something but she's hesitating to tell it anyway.
I sighed.
"What?" I asked.
"Are you okay?"
I didn't answer. Eli mutter a curse.
"Oh, shoot. Surely you're not. But what happened? Mind to tell me?"
I stopped walking. Eli looked at me with so much concern in her eyes. I sighed and think if I'm going to say it.
"Adam..." I started. Eli nodded as if telling me that she's eager to listen and believe in what am I going to say.
"Adam is what?"
I was about to open my mouth to talk when I felt a cold wind that hugged my body. My lips parted when I felt something move from the dark. I immediately turn my head to look at it and I saw shadows moving. My heart pounded fast on my chest.
I took heavy breathings before I start to walk to see what it was... or maybe 'who' it was.
"Luna?" Eli called me but I didn't mind her.
I bit my lip as I try to calm myself. Something move. Something is watching me. Or maybe, 'he' is watching me.
I swallowed hard as I take a peek. I shrieked when a cat jumped out behind one of the car parked there. I heave a deep sigh.
"Shit." I muttered. That was really scary.
"Luna! What's going on?" Eli shouted. She's still standing where I left her. I sighed deeply and mentally remind myself to be calm and think rational.
I turned my back and I felt something move again. I'm sure it's not that cat anymore. I smirked to myself.
"You can't hide at me forever." I said to no one before I came back to Eli.
---
I waited on our school gate the next morning. I ducked when I saw Eli approaching. I don't want her to see me. She'll just ask questions and I cannot provide answers for her.
I heave a deep sigh when I saw her enter the school. I leaned on the wall and watched the students passed by. I tapped my foot on the ground and waited for Adam to show up.
I tightened the grip on the strap of my bag when I heard the bell rang as a sign that the first class is alreay starting. My phone beep and I saw Eli's text.
Eli:
Where are you bitch? Our prof is here.
I turned off my phone and put it back to my pocket without replying to her. Adam is not yet here. I wonder if he'll go to class today. I sighed as I looked up to see if someone will show up.
I almost jumped in my position when I saw Adam standing in front of me. I mutter a curse before I bit my lip and blinked my eyes. Adam's forehead is creased and his jaw are clenching.
He sighed and then walked passed by me when I get all my guts to catch his arms. He immediately stopped and glared at me.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
I swallowed hard. I stayed up all night thinking about what happened yesterday on the library. They kept on telling me that Adam wasn't there yesterday that time. Eli is convincing me that it's just a dream. But then no, I know in myself that it wasn't.
He's there.
"Tell me." I said. Adam stared at me. My lips parted when he smirked and get my hands off to his arms.
I swallowed hard before I looked away.
"I have nothing to tell." he said coldly. I chuckled softly.
"Stop kidding. You can't fool me." I said as I gritted my teeth. Adam's lips form a curve.
I blinked when he stepped forward. I stand still trying to look brave even though he's intimidating me.
"I don't know what you're saying." he said, amused. I scoffed when he close the distance between the two of us. I absentmindedly put my hand on his chest to avoid having a skin contact with him.
Adam arched his brow and looked at my hand. I looked away and put my hand down when he snaked his hand on my waist. My eyes widened and my face heated.
This! This is what happened yesterday! I want to yell this fact to him. I know what I am saying. This intesnity that he letting me feel is something I shouldn't be mistaken to be only a dream! This is real. He is real.
"Stop biting your lips." he whispered. My heart pounded so hard on my chest that I'm afraid he might here it. I looked away.
Adam pulled me closer to him and I cannot bring myself to look at him again. I heard him chuckled softly in my ears.
"Where's your guts now?" he teased. I swallowed hard.
"I want to know who you are." I said bravely. I manage to look up to meet his gaze. I caught him arching his brows.
"Adam." he said. I grimaced. That was lame.
"I know."
"Sure you do." he said. My smile faded and I stared at him intesely. He did the same. For a moment, I felt lost with our own world that I almot forgot where we were.
My heart is pounding so fast that even my breathing keep up. His eyes is so captivating that I cannot bring myself to look away once I got stucked looking at those pair. His lips look so soft within this proximity. He... He just seems so perfect that I almost forgot what is my real business.
"Luna..." he called me and I sucked up with my breath. I immediately pushed him away.
I looked away and mutter some curses with in my head. What was that? It feels like we're talking without really saying a word.
"You can't always touch me like that." I said. Adam chuckled and arched his brow at me.
"You didn't protest awhile ago."
"I am protesting now. " I said that make him laugh even more.
"Why not?"
"You hate me." I said what I am feeling. Adam amused grin flashed.
"I never said that."
"But you don't like me right?" I asked. Adam remain silent. I pinched the back of my thighs for that stupid and impulsive question.
"Nevermind. Just don't do it again." I said trying to save myself from embarrassment.
"Why? You have a boyfriend?" he asked as if it was just a joke.
"I do." I answered. His smile faded. My heart skipped.
"Who?"
I shook my head and chose not to answer him. I figure that he doesn't need to know about that. We aren't friends. In fact, I should be the one asking him questions and not me.
"The guy in your dreams perhaps?" he asked with so much judgements in his voice.
I clenched my jaw. His voice is so offending that I felt a sudden pang in my chest hearing him say that to my Alpha.
"Yes. " I answered him bravely. Adam lips parted and I must say that I manage to shut him up.
I am waiting for him to throw me some insults, laugh at me or judge me but instead, he turned his back at me. My forehead creased.
He'll be leaving me again!
"Adam!" I called. He stopped but he didn't looked to see me.
I sighed deeply.
"Answer me first before you leave, please." I added the last word. I saw his muscles on his back move. He didn't move. So I took that as a permission to go on.
"What are you?" I asked, almost a whisper but I'm sure he heard it. He heard it because I saw his head craned on the other side.
"I better not tell you." he answered.
"Why?" I asked.
"You'll die." he answered and my breathing almost stopped.
