Chapter Five

After i met all of Jordan's friends i felt so welcomed at this place. We hung out for until free period was over then we all just left and went our separate ways. I didn't have any of the rest of my classes with any of them so i spent the rest of the day pretty lonely. Once it was finally time to leave i waited outside the main entarence for my mom to come pick me up because i still don't have a car. 20 minutes has passed by and i haven't seen or heard from her at all. I log into my phone to call her but she doesn't answer. I called her eight times and it just rings. No answer. Just great that means I'm going to have to walk home but it's ok because i only live like 30 minutes away. I open the GPS app on my phone and type up my address on it. Turns out that my house is 30 minutes away, when you go by car. Its going to take me an hour to walk to my house. Yay. Thats just what i needed after a long day at school. As i started walking to my house i decided to stay positive. After 10 minutes of walking i needed to go through a neighborhood to get to my neighborhood. While i was walking i couldn't help but look around. There are huge trees from both sides of the streets that meet in the middle of the road. That makes them drape down to look so pretty. All of the house have some type of gorgeous set up in their front lawns. Everything looks so neat and peaceful. How come i didn't notice this, this morning?

"excuse me miss" i hear a deep voice call out from behind me

"oh um hello" i say turning around to look up at this tall guy wearing a football.

"i noticed you are alone and there is always some type creep hanging around here so i was wondering if you would let me walk you to your destination" he says holding his arm out. Well there goes the image of a peaceful neighborhood.

I smile and walk back to where he is and rap my arm around his. Once we caught up to each other we started walking together.

"Whats your name?" i ask looking up at him.

"Jason, what about yours" he says looking down at me

"Hailey, pleasure to meet you" i say looking up ahead

"The pleasure is all mine, so you live around here"

"yeah yeah i live a couple blocks that way" i say pointing straight forward

"no way i think i might live close to were you are" he says looking down at me smiling.

"Really?" i say smiling back up at him.

Then suddenly i hear my phone ring. I'm hoping it's my mom calling me back to tell me that her phone got lost or that someone stole it and decided to give it back or that her phone broke and that she's really sorry for making me worry about her. I pull my phone out of my back pocket to check who's calling me and ....it's Laura. I answer the call feeling slightly disappointed it's not my mom.

"Hey baby how was your day?" she asks

"It was..." i pause to think about how my day actually was.

"It was perfect"

"Oh?" she says surprised.

"Yeah i've made a lot of new friends" i say looking up at Jason. As we made eye contact he smiled assuring me that he also thinks of me as a new friend.

"Lucky you, remember that stupid bitch that would spread rumors about me in like all of high school"

"yeah?"

"she is here, like in my college"

"no fucking way" i say super dramatically

"yes fucking way" then i hear someone talk to Laura.

"oh baby i have to go" she says with a sad tone.

"Damn well you be making friends quick. Bye mama" i say and make kissing noises before i hang up. I do that when ever i'm mad or am feeling petty so you bet there is going to be another phone call later.

"Well Jason this is my stop, thank you for walking and protecting me"

"no problem Hailey" he says with a soft chuckle as he continues walking down the street.

Before he was out of sight he turned around and waved at me. I smiled and waved back. I pull out my lanyard from my pocket to find my house key. When i walked inside my mom was nowhere to be seen. She didn't tell me she was doing anything today so she should be here.
