SHIELD

Another month has passed since we handed over the stones. Although a little bit upset, I knew that since I have looked into the future, it would happen sooner or later. Divination is almost a taboo. You are looking into the future. Whatever you see, it will happen. You can alter it a little bit but it would still happen.

"Honey, we have a call from Evan" Hela told me.

Her belly had become a tiny bit swollen. I smiled thinking that I would become a father soon.

"Alright, bring him up"

She left me in the living room as the table projected a video. "Alex, I messed up" he sighed

"What happened?"

"Nick Fury is dead"

"WHAT?!?" I became serious "What happened?"

"Someone assassinated him in D.C."

"Damn"

"I suspect Alexander Pierce to be behind this"

"Who now?"

"A member of the World Security Council and former head of SHIELD. Hydra had completely infiltrated into SHIELD too"

"...." I was silent

"I will get back to you, we are now criminals" he shrugged

"Alright I'll see what I can do"

The video ended. 'Damn' I gritted my teeth 'Just F***ING great'

Hela came behind me and wrapped her arms around my neck.

"What's wrong?" she whispered in my ears

"Nothing Hela" I sighed

"Alex, don't keep everything to yourself. Sometimes you got to tell someone what you are thinking" She told me

"Alright"

"mmm, so tell me" She removed her arms and sat down next to me.

I started to recount everything, my divinations, the stones, my thoughts.

"Honey, just do what you think is right" She laid her head on his shoulders. "Evan was just trying to prevent as much death as possible before the inevitable"

"Thank you my dear" I kissed her

"Then go. Help Evan" She let go.

"Hmm" I carried her up the stairs. "Go rest for a while, I'll be back in a while"

"Don't treat me like I can't do things myself" She pouted

"Alright, alright, but just be safe until me or the girls are around" I smiled

"Go" She whispered

I nodded and gave her a small kiss before leaving.

"Cortana, get me my stuff"

"On it"

I got geared up and got onto the winter prowler Evan sent me a week ago. Compared to the original, it was about 3-4 times smaller than the original. It lost a lot of inside space but I was small enough to count as a jet not a corvette. The exterior was similar in design, while the inside has enough space to carry about 10 passengers. There were two laser cannons, two 30mm cannons, and one vulcan machinegun under the nose. There was also an active camouflage equipped, along with a small payload of bombs and 6 archer missiles.

I got on and started up the engine. We flew off to Evan's last known location.

"Cortana ask Albert what is the current situation"

"He says that they were captured just now by SHIELD"

"Alright"

I continued to follow them until they freed themselves from their captives.

"Albert just contacted me to arrive in this location"

"Alright" I turned the jet and flew towards the marked location.

Maria Hills opened the door for me as Evan told her that I was coming.

"Hello, Agent Hill"

"Hello, come in" She replied while watching out for suspicious activities outside

I walked in and she closed the door.

I walked inside and found myself in a long tunnel. At the end of it I saw and opened it.

"Looks like Nick Fury had faked his death" I joked

"This is not funny" he replied

"Hello there, I'm guessing you're Sam" I noticed another man with them

"How do you know?"

"Albert told me all about you"

"Who's Albert" he asked in confusion

"Evan's AI"

"Lets just get back on topic" Evan interrupted

"What are we looking at here" I asked

"Hydra has completely taken over SHIELD" Evan replied

"And? is that bad?"

"Yes, it is"

"Care to explain?"

"Fury has been secretly making a couple mini helicarriers capable of striking anyone across the globe" Steve answered

"OOHH, so like if you don't submit you die kind of thing?"

"Quit messing around Alex" Evan rolled his eyes at me "And yes that's exactly what Hydra wants to do"

"Interesting, care to explain why they made such weapons in the first place?"

"He wants to kill of all dangers and threats" Steve told me

"Stupid" I muttered

"Yep, I agree with that" Evan stated

"Enough" Nick interrupted "Now, if you look at this case here"

He opened a black case which contained several large chips

"And what are we supposed to do with these?" I questioned him

"I was going to get there. Now, please shut up while I talk"

"There are several mini-carriers, we need to infiltrate them and replace one of the chips in the control center under the ship and place one of these in it." He continued "Maybe we can still salvage what-"

"We're not salvaging anything. We're not just taking down the carriers, Nick. We're taking down SHIELD" Steve interrupted

"SHIELD had nothing to do with this" Nick complained

"You gave me this mission. This is how it ends. SHIELD's been compromised. You said so yourself. HYDRA grew right under your nose and nobody noticed"

"Why do you think we're meeting in this cave? I noticed" he refutes

"How many paid the price before you did"

"Look, I didn't know about Barnes"

"Even if you had, would you have told me? Or would you have compartmentalized that, too? SHIELD, HYDRA, it all goes"

"He's right" Maria Hill agreed "As much as I hate to admit it, he's right"

Nick Fury glances at Natasha, who gives a quiet indication of the same opinion. Fury then looks at Sam Wilson

"Don't look at me. I do what he does, just slower"

He looked at me and Evan too and we just shrugged indicating it has nothing to do with us.

"Well... It looks like you're giving the orders now, Captain" he sighed
