Chapter 47 - Key of Fate
"Clements Publishing announces New Branch Manager Inauguration and implements a new branch in Chicago" that was the chrome news that popped unto Juni's phone that afternoon on his way back from another job interview where he was told they would contact him soon, at least that seems hopeful. he thought wearily until the news broke him once again.
He sighed and made a turn onto the highway, pressing down on his accelerator ,he blasted into the wind without a care in the world, he continued driving without any thoughts of going home yet, he thought of how he had struggled through college and being the nerd type, people had found him no fun ad weird so he kind of had no friends except his childhood friend, Vee who despite how much he had pushed her away wasn't ready to leave him ,he almost thought she had a crush on him until she got a girlfriend denying his thoughts before he could even put them into words, he continued pursuing his degree with his fixed mind-set with that without education, he couldn't gain a place in the world, however when he met Carmen for the first time after he had taken up her seat reservation at the library, he thought maybe being serious and liking someone couldn't really be a bad thing, Vee and carmen couldn't really get along, Carmen didn't leave his side and after a year, he asked her out with doubts in his heart, but was so surprised that she said yes on the first attempt. He wondered just what he did to deserve her and soon enough, they graduated and while Juni took on an IT job, Carmen proceeded to law school, the long distance however didn't affect their love, it blossomed the more and three years after, while working their respective workplace, Juni as personal assistant to an Editor at Clements and Carmen as a lawyer at a respectable law firm, Juni proposed to the love of his life, she agreed and the he was overjoyed however the happiness he felt was short-lived when he learnt she was the only daughter of the second richest man in the country ,they fought and made up with a promise not to keep any more secrets from each other ,then it was time to meet his father in law, Juni was proven wrong about his theory of Education being everything when his father in law refused to accept him without Juni having any high social status but was forced to agree when his only daughter threatened to elope. he agreed but doesn't fail to remind Juni of his low place in life every time they met. Two years later, Derek was born, all this while, Juni's old mom was already at the old people's home as she was slowly losing her sanity. Juni became an editor and everything changed, even his father in law respected him a bit and now after losing that, he wondered where he should have turned the key of fate before this could happen, thinking back, he wondered if Angela was really the mistake or himself?
A message pop sound jolted him back to reality" There's a surprise waiting for you, be home soon, love"
It was from Carmen, slowly easing his legs off the accelerator though wondered why he wasn't in an accident yet, Juni turned around back in the direction of home. After all, there will always be a home waiting for him right?
