I'm Sorry

"I'm sorry aunt Felicia, I forgot what you told me to do." Elizabeth pouted.

"It's okay Elizabeth, you know I can't get mad at you when you keep your face that way. Now go inside and stay with your mother so I can fetch the water."

Elizabeth ran back inside, her slipper flapping against the sand until she got to their door step. She took off her slippers and walked barefoot into her mother's room. Everywhere smelt of ethanol and drugs. Her mother had been terribly ill for sometime and they had no money to.take her to a good hospital, so her aunt Felicia used the skills she learned from her grandmother who was once a nurse to treat her mother for the time being until they had enough money to get her professional medical attention.
