I MUST FIND OUT

"Morning princess!"

I squint my eyes when I see Mark entering the room with my breakfast. How can he act as if nothing happened?

Yesterday when he arrived at home he straight away went to his office without saying a word and I didn't see him after that.

"Did you sleep well?"

He gives me his usual sweet smile as he sits next to me and wraps his muscular arms around me. He feels so warm...

Kai

The familiar sound crossed my mind as I grip on my pyjamas tightly. Why am I thinking of that name?

Mark gently pulls me away from the hug and holds my face in a cup while moving his face closer to mine until our forehead touch.

"I love you so much that I can't let anyone take you away from me."

I close my eyes at the sound of his gentle voice and feel his soft lips touching mine. I try to forget what happened yesterday because there's no way what that man said was real.

I never heard of anyone called Kai.

Knock Knock

"Come in."

I look at the door as one of Mark's subordinates enters holding his knees hiding the white cloth wrapped around it that was mostly covered in red...blood.

"There's a problem..."

I look at Mark's face as it changes into the same face he had yesterday when the injured man gestures something I couldn't decipher.

"I'm sorry princess, I need to go, it's urgent. I will try to be back as soon as possible ok? Make sure you finish all your meals and don't wait for me if I come back late, just go to sleep if you're sleepy."

I nod trying to give him a smile before he quietly leaves the room as silence falls upon the whole mansion.

I feel so lonely.

"Woof woof!"

My face brightens as I hear Pouf barking outside my room making me dash towards the door as I open it quickly and fall over with Pouf's puffy body over me.

"Pouf calm down boy!"

I roll over holding Pouf as I felt like all the fright I had until now was disappearing swiftly.

"I'm so lucky to have you! You're the only one I feel safe around Pouf!"

I felt a sudden urge to cry at Pouf's warmth but held on, I need to get a hold of myself. If I don't stay strong I won't be able to uncover what is going on around me. I controlled my feelings as Pouf snuggled playfully, he always knows when I'm feeling down.

"Pouf I have decided! I'm going to Mark's office. If I don't go now I won't find another chance to. It's now or never, let's go!"

I get up and put Pouf down. I open the door and inspect the hallway, no one, good.

Pouf follows behind me as I tiptoe until I finally reach the office. Thankfully it's not locked since Mark was in a hurry he forgot to lock it. Now's my chance to finally get to know what is happening around me.

I felt worried as I pushed the handle, lord knows what's hiding between these walls.

I was grateful that Pouf remained silent as he just stood near the corner, at least he can tell if someone comes near the office.

I searched every nook and cranny of the office and found a bunch of papers stacked messily inside the drawer underneath the computer.

I fumbled the papers making the drawer more chaotic than before and just as I thought I found a file with my name on it.

I take deep breaths as I carefully open the file.

"This is so nerve taking Pouf!"

I whisper loud enough so that Pouf could hear me, but he just tilts his head, of course, he doesn't know what I'm saying.

"Y/N Raven..."

I start reading the content on the paper slowly digesting every word carefully. What is this? Everything the guy at the party said seemed to be real. The pills that were given to me after my meals saying that it was for my health and when I didn't want to have them Mark will mix it in my food, that's why it was always him bringing my breakfast!

That wasn't the end to it, in the next page there was a picture of a dead girl named just like me...no it was supposed to represent me.

So this whole time I was living in the midst of all the lies thinking my life was perfect.

"Wooff woof!"

I grasp at Pouf's barking. What do I do now? I still haven't finished reading the whole thing!
