To Kill Or To Probably Be Killed

Dante~ I need to get back out there and find him. I'm not gonna let this drag on any longer. Innocent people are dying because he's so thirsty to kill me. He can't control himself, I know it. I have to find him but it's so difficult for me to track him all I know is that he could be hiding out by the hospital.

Jamie~ *sigh* Dante we are known as Night Owls for a reason. We become the predators at night our speed and abilities give us the advantage regardless of how strong your brother may be. Especially the fact that it's two against one. And don't tell me that I'm not going with you us Night Owls fight together plus you kinda need me.

Dante~ I guess I have no choice… ok you take the lead.

I reached over to my chain necklace and put it on before Jamie turned off the lights in my room. The room was pitch black I couldn't see anything. All I could see was my phone's screen.

Dante~ What the hell turn my damn lights back on.

Jamie~ Relax We need to head outside anyway. Follow me.

Jamie jumped out of the window without hesitation landing safely on the ground. She looked up to me whispering to me.

Jamie~ Jump out!

Dante~ That's a long fall no way this can be safe.

Jamie~ You have a brother waiting to kill you at any moment and you're worried about a little jump. Dante man the fuck up and get your ass down here.

Dante~ Fine but if I break a bone it's on you.

Ok keep in mind my house is two stories and she wanted me to jump from my upstairs bedroom onto the concrete driveway. I finally decided to jump and to get Jamie to stop nagging at me. Jamie is really impatient at times.

Dante~ Wow that was nothing I thought I would have broken a bone.

Jamie~ Perks of being naturally agile.

Dante~ Let's get going we need to find Donny ASAP.

Jamie~ Donny?

Dante~ Oh Ummm he's my brother so I decided to call him by his real name. I at least want to try to accept him as my brother before I do anything to harm him.

Jamie~ I understand even though it's hard to face the fact that he wants to kill you.

Dante~ Yeah let's get going.

We started searching around the Hospital area looking for the alleyway where I found the dead body. We both figured if he was hiding anywhere it would be anywhere around the area the body was found.

Jamie~ Dante can you tell me what happened to the person that was killed?

Dante~ The body looked like it was slashed and cut. But they looked really small compared to normal Almost as if someone was torturing that person. Nothing was cut off the body though that's all I remember.

Jamie~ Sounds like he had all the time in the world. If that's the case he's gotta be hiding somewhere in that area. Nobody would take their time to kill someone and not have a quick escape route to a safezone of some sort.

Dante~ Yeah…

Jamie~ Ummmm Dante… are you ok? You look like something is bothering you.

Dante~ It's just… I don't think I can kill my own brother. I can either talk to him or kill him… what do I do? I have two different options to choose from but I can't choose. I feel like it's to kill or to probably be killed… but I don't want either.

Jamie~ Dante… this is all I can say a wise man once told me "An option is an option but it can be more than just an option if you follow your heart and not your brain". Basically he told me at times like this the best option is the option your heart chooses. Let your heart choose your path. Now with that said what's your decision?

Dante~ I'll let you know when I figure this out.

Two hours went by and we finally arrived at our location. The body was still lying there on the ground not touched from when I was here earlier. Jamie and I took a knee down inspecting the body.

Jamie~ The amount of cuts and slashes on this body is absurd. No doubt this was a torture. Why would he torture someone for no reason? I don't know.

Dante~ For all we know it was just for sport. But the body isn't gonna tell us exactly where he is. All that tells us is where the hell he could possibly be. Isn't there anything we can do to track him down faster?

Jamie~ Well we do have an ability to sense other night owls. The problem with that is the farther the target the more energy it takes to find his energy. I only have so much energy in me the second I start sensing him I'll get dizzy and collapse.

Dante~ What if I was the one who sensed him? I'm just as strong as Donny and we've seen how much energy he has in him. Maybe I have the energy to sense him for as long as needed.

Jamie~ It's worth a try. Do you even know how to sense another night owl's energy?

Dante~ No but I can try the best I can. Besides I'm really worried about everyone in the Town I don't want anyone else to die.

I looked down at my chain necklace and saw it started to glow. Concentrating on finding Donny's energy I closed my eyes and balled my fist. I did everything I could to sense Donny's energy. I could feel the tension in my muscles, the energy soaring through my veins but nothing happened. I released all that tension that built up and collapsed after that failed attempt to track my brother down. Jamie walked up to me hoping I was ok. I was knocked out for ten minutes before I woke back up.

Dante~W-what happened?

Jamie~ You passed out. I thought that wouldn't work. I guess I have to do it myself.

Dante~ Wait… I see something. I see a stream of black and red sparkling aura. It's pointing north.

Jamie~ Dante… that's Donny's energy you're seeing. It must have worked, you can sense the energy of another night owl!

Dante~ Well let's follow it come on this way!

Jamie and I have been running non stop for 10 minutes following my brother's energy trail. His energy got stronger the closer we got to him his energy was so strong it felt like being buried under a huge pile of snow. The trail led us to an apartment building close to the hospital. The second we decided to look around the building the trail vanished leaving me in confusion.

Dante~ I can't sense him anymore for some reason

Jamie~ he must have stopped using his abilities causing his energy to be untraceable. He must know we're here if that's the case.

Dante~ Meaning he could be hiding or he left. Jamie I want you to go check around the building and make sure he doesn't escape. I'll find his apartment.

Jamie~ Dante be careful, I don't want to tell the others that you didn't make it.

Dante~ Don't worry I'll be ok.

The building didn't have any outside lights to help me see throughout the building but that didn't stop me from finding my brother. I walked throughout the building with caution. My necklace started to glow really bright, lighting up the area around me. I guess it was more than just an emotion and energy suppressor. It was almost as if the necklace and I had a weird bond that couldn't be broken. I finally reached the top floor and found a note next taped to a door.

Dante~ "I got to hand it to you. I never thought you would find where it was I've been hiding out. Anyway whatever you have planned just know it won't work on me. I don't care if you want to talk, all I want is blood, your blood…"

After I read the note my heart began to race. I couldn't let that stop me from confronting Donny so I had to enter the apartment. The place was pitch black but I hady necklace to light up the inside of the building. Everything was destroyed, glass everywhere, walls busted, trash laying everywhere. I couldn't believe Donny lived like this broken and alone… The lights turned on and I saw him standing ten feet away from me…

Dante~ Donny you don't have to do this…

Donny~........

Dante~ Donny?

Donny~ It's all up to you…

Donny collapsed right in front of me… I saw him lying on the ground and a knife was jabbed in his back... I was in complete confusion but also complete shock. I didn't want to leave him here. I had to get him help as soon as possible. I didn't care if he was gonna kill me or anything. I just wanted my brother alive…
