Just can't catch a break

The sun shines in Dante's face causing him to wake up. He looked around and realized nobody was in the room with him. He was a bit confused but didn't think much about it. He got up and walked out of the room making his way to the kitchen. Dante was about to walk down the stairs until he saw a photo of Sunset and her mother in a nice looking picture frame hanging on the wall. He started to think to himself about his mother Rose. Dante knew as much as he wanted to relax with his friends he had to watch his back wherever he went. Because who knew where his mother could be at this time? Dante finally decided to walk down the stairs and enter the living room where everyone was hanging out at. Rip looked over at Dante giving him a slight grin.

Rip~ Yo good morning Dante. How did you sleep?

Dante~ Good morning everyone. I slept pretty great actually.

Sunset~ Were sorry btw we didn't want to disturb you from your sleep especially after last night.

Dante~ It's all good I like a good night's sleep.

Twilight~ Same here.

Rarity~ Especially after you fell asleep while snuggling him.

Twilight's face became rose red.

Twilight~ Heh I did snuggle him last night did I?

Fluttershy~ It was so adorable.

Pinkie Pie~ I snuck a picture of you two last night so I can save the memory.

Dante~ Ummmm heh

Rainbow~ Anyway Dante how did you sleep?

Dante~ I slept pretty good actually. Especially after how tired I was after last night.

Rip~ Yeah everything just happened so fast to.

Dante~ Yeah it still sucks to know that Jamie is gone… but, can't let that get in the way of things. Sooooo what are we gonna do today?

Sunset~ Oh I was thinking we can all hang out at the mall.

Dante~ Wait… that's in the city and we aren't allowed in the city.

Rip~ Yeah all because of some beef you and the other Night Owls had years ago.

Twilight and I looked at Rip with sad and disappointing looks.

Rip~ What?

Dante~ *Sigh* After this chapter you and I are gonna have a long talk.

Rip~ Ummm Twilight what is he talking about?

Twilight~ Now is not the time. Just be patient and you will know.

Rip~ Fine. Anyway who's to say we aren't allowed in the city?

Dante~ Uh ahem the law.

Rip~ What the hell is the law gonna do? Shoot you? If the government really wanted you dead they would have already found you Dante. You wouldn't even be here with us.

Applejack~ As much as ah want to disagree ah can't.

Sunset~ If you think about it Dante, Rip has a point.

Rarity~ You most likely wouldn't have been informed about Jamie's death if they were really out to get you.

Dante~ You all don't understand my "mother" hid me well from the outside world. She knew what would happen if everyone knew who we were. That's why she hid me from everyone. Because if the word got out that Rose and her son Dante was still alive and living in this neighborhood then what do you think would happen.

Twilight~ He's right you guys. We're lucky he was taken when his true self was shown that day in the school cafeteria. The school had a chance to have Dante taken to some unknown location away from not only us but the ones he loves as well. Rip and I begged them to let him stay.

Rip~ Dante… why do you always worry? You were the one who said that we can finally relax. Now you're standing in front of us saying you have to watch you back at all times. Dante live a little.

Rarity~ Rippy!

Dante~ No Rarity he's right. I guess I haven't been relaxing this whole time. Yeah, let's go to the mall.

Pinkie Pie~ Really!?

Dante~ Yeah- Wait ...….. where the hell have you been this whole time!?

Pinkie Pie~ Oh the writer was to lazy to add me to the conversation. Let's go to the mall! I call shotgun!

Pinkie darted out of the house faster than Rips rib recovery. Everyone just looked at each other and headed out of the house. We all got in our cars and drove off to the mall. The car ride was long but fun the whole way. We didn't live in the city we all lived in the outskirts of the city and even the outskirts was a pretty big area. Now we're all at the mall, we get out of our cars and then we head inside. We all decided to split up and have fun with our mall buddies heh. I was with Twilight, Rarity was with Applejack, fluttershy was with Pinkie and Sunset, and Rainbow was with Rip. Twilight and I was walking down the malls courtyard when we spotted some familiar faces.

Laura~ Why do we have to be here? You know I hate the mall.

Maggie~ You hate everything except one thing. Or should I say person.

Laura~ Shut it Maggie.

Dante~ Hey! Laura, Maggie!

Maggie~ Dante! Is been so long.

Laura~ Yeah… maybe to long.

Dante~ What was that?

Laura~ Um it's nothing.

Twilight~ Hey girls!

Maggie~ Twilight! You're here this is awesome! How have you two been?

Twilight~ Better than we both expected actually.

Dante~ Yeah we had a lot happen lately.

Maggie~ Have you heard about Donny?

Dante~ What about him?

Maggie~ He completely disappeared. He was staying with Laura and I and he just left.

Laura~ We don't know where he is. Maybe it's best not to anyway.

Dante~ Laura are you ok?

Laura~ Never better.

Maggie~ You're so totally lying. Stop hiding it, it's obvious how you're feeling.

Twilight~ Yeah I felt the same way when I asked Dante to turn me into a Night Owl. You're hurting are you?

Dante~ Hurting? You mean?

Laura~ Ok fine! I had a crush on Donny! When I told him how I felt he turned me down. I've never felt so cold and empty in my life. I truly loved him and I would have died for him… bit he wouldn't die for me.

Laura begins to tear up.

Dante~ Laura… I'm sorry about what happened.

Laura~ Don't! I'm going home.

Maggie~ Wait but you're my ride home. I can't walk.

Laura~ I don't care! Either come with me or hall ass back home.

Dante~ Laura! Stop!

Laura stops in place.

Dante~ I understand you're going through a rough time right now. Hell I go through tough times almost everyday but that doesn't mean you have to hide from everyone.

Maggie~ Exactly that's why I brought you here. I wanted to cheer you up. Even though you hate the mall I knew there would be at least something that would cheer you up.

Laura~ I thank you for helping me… but everything here reminds me of him…

Twilight~ Like what?

Laura~ Not what…

Laura turned around and pointed right at me.

Laura~ It's who…

Dante~ How do I remind you of Donny?

Laura~ You both look the same! You have the same hair, eyes, and face. The only thing that's different is your personality. You love and care for everyone meanwhile Donny only looks after the ones he thinks is worthy of his trust. When he turned me down it was like him telling me that I'm not worth it…

Dante~ Laura…

Laura~ I don't care anymore, I'm going home!

Maggie~ I'll come with you but I'm driving ok you're in no condition to drive. I'm sorry Dante, sorry Twilight I have to go and make sure Laura doesn't do anything she regrets. I'll talk you two later.

Dante~ alright later.

Twilight~ Goodbye.

Maggie and Laura left the building to go home.

Dante~ Damn I feel bad for Laura. Donny was never the one two show emotion to anyone.

Twilight~ I feel bad for her as well. I know it's not easy to deal with heartbreak. I've had a few guys break my heart way before I met you.

Dante~ The only one I met was Flash and he was nothing but trouble. But yet he was the only one that was able to bring out my true self if you know what I mean.

Twilight~ Yeah, that one day.

Dante~ Yeah, anyway what do you want to do there's so many stores to explore.

Twilight~ Let's check out that store.

Dante~ "The kawaii resort" You into anime?

Twilight~ Eh a little I just thought this store was cute.

Dante~ Cool I'm down. Let's go in.

Twilight and I walked I to the store and Twilight immediately flipped out. She was in such awe from how adorable the store was to her. She grabbed a large puffy stuffed puppy and hugged it for like two minutes. I knew she wanted it no doubt.

Twilight~ I want this! It's so cute!

Dante~ Heh ok how much does it cost?

Twilight~ Thirty dollars.

Dante~ Ok I'll buy it then we're leaving the store before you run my pockets dry.

Twilight~ Okay that makes sense.

We head to the register and paid for the stuffed animal. Twilight didn't want a bag because she really wanted to carry the stuffed animal everywhere she went.

Dante~ You must really love that stuffed animal.

Twilight~ Yeah it's cute, but not as cute as you.

I blushed I won't lie. I'm surprised I didn't see that coming. I chuckled a little and put my arm around her as we walked together. Soon my stomach started to rumble a little so we headed to the food court. If you remember I woke up and never actually ate anything before we left Sunset's house. When we got there we found everyone sitting together talking but the food court was practically dry. We decided to sit with them at the table.

Rip~ Hey you two. Looks like someone is having fun.

Rainbow~ Sweet stuffed animal Twilight.

Twilight~ Thank you Dante bought it for me.

Dante~ I couldn't refuse. She wouldn't put it down.

Rarity~ Darling It's so adorable.

Fluttershy~ You got that from the kawaii store. I know because that's my favorite. They sell theost adorable of stuffed animals, phone cases, cameras there's so much there.

Pinkie Pie~ I shop there too! I mostly buy the things that pink though I don't know why but I have a thing for the color pink.

Applejack~ Well that's not surprising at all.

Pinkie Pie~ Really?

Dante~ Heh yeah hey Twi imma go get something to eat wanna come with?

Twilight~ No thank you Dante I'll wait here with everyone.

Dante~ Alright, I'll be right back.

I was gonna get something to eat because of the fact that I literally haven't eaten anything today. I was about to order until I heard the one voice I hated more than mother's.

At the table…

Rip~ Dante and I have always had each other's back since we'll ever.

Sunset~ Maybe you do have the magic of friendship in you two.

Twilight~ I mean it is possible if you think about it.

Rainbow~ Yeah the two share a bond almost exactly like ours. Who's to say it's not in them already?

Rarity~ Rainbow does make a good point, but Dante already has magic of his own or magic-like abilities.

Fluttershy~ Speaking of Dante he sure is taking long to get his food.

Twilight~ Yeah where did he go anyway?

Rip~ A better question is where did all the people go? This place is really empty.

Rainbow~ Yeah Rip and I barely saw anyone today.

Fluttershy~ Same with Pinkie, Sunset and I.

Rarity~ I can say the same for me and Applejack.

Back with Dante...

Flash~ Well well well, if it isn't Dante. I thought you wouldn't show your face again after what happened that day.

Dante~ And I thought you would leave me alo e for once I guess we were both wrong. Stay away from me and my friends.

I walked away from Flash, still hungry but I didn't care at that point. I was a little ticked at what happened. Flash just gets on my damn nerves. First he acts toxic towards Twilight, then provokes me to show my inner Rouge. I made it back to the table and sat down next to Twilight. The entire table looked at me utterly confused.

Rip~ Dante, you good dawg?

Dante~ *grunts*

Twilight~ What's wrong?

Dante~ We need to leave, right now.

Twilight~ Why?

Flash~ Maybe because your loving and handsome Flash sentry is here.

Twilight~ Ugh maybe we should have left rather than ask questions. What do you want Flash?

Flash~ Nothing much just want my beautiful shining Twilight sparkle to come with me.

I would have tried to stop Flash from messing with Twilight but I was to busy trying my hardest not to let h get under my skin.

Dante~ She's taken Flash, back off of her.

Flash~ By who, the imaginary guy right behind her? Ha!

I started to notice a small dark aura surrounding me. My eyes were as red as they were before this happened to me.

Flash~ Twilight needs a guy like me in her life.

Twilight~ Completely fake, toxic, and two faced yeah no thanks.

Flash~ Nobody ever said you could speak.

Rip~ Dante… are you ok?

Dante~ ......

I sat there completely quiet and emotionless.

Flash~ He's probably too much of a bitch to face… me… face to… face… what the hell is that feeling and why is it familiar?

Rip~ Twilight, I feel it too. Do you?

Twilight shook her head yes and slowly turned towards me. She recognized that feeling and so did Rip.

Twilight~ Dante… Dante! Look at me please. Please look at me. Dante…

Sunset~ AHHH! This feeling… this sinister feeling. It… hurts.

Rainbow~ I feel it too…

Fluttershy and the others tried to tent to sunset and rainbow on the ground in horrible pain.

Rarity~ I think we all feel it. What in heaven is that feeling?

Rainbow~ What's… going on... It hurts to move.

Flash~ Whatever, I'm not scared of anything.

Rainbow~ Rip, what's going on?

Rip~ It's happening again.

Twilight~ But this is ten times worse because Dante is a lot stronger than he was before. We need to calm him down somehow.

Dante~ Don't even… I'm ok…

Twilight~ You are…?

Rip~ Bro you scared us half to death.

Dante~ I'm sorry... but I need to do something before we leave.

Sunset~ AHHH! all of the sudden the pain got worse!

Rip~ Get Sunset and rainbow out of here they need to rest.

Twilight~ Wait if Sunset can still feel it then that means…

Rip~ AHHH! DAMMIT!

Twilight~ Rip! Where does it hurt?

Rip~ My ribs! The same ones that just healed!

Twilight~ Everyone is in pain all because they're in proximity of him… how… how can anyone have power this sinister?

I stood up in front of flash staring into his soul. He tried not to show any fear towards me but both him and I knew that he feared me. He wanted to leave as soon as possible but he knows I'm not gonna let that happen. It was only a matter of time. My inner Rouge had taken over mm mind.

Flash~ Oh so you're all scary now. Yeah whatever rat.

Dante~ You and I both know how you're feeling right now. I can sense your heart racing at an alarming rate. You want to run just as much as I want to kill you.

Flash~ You wouldn't.

I grabbed Flash by the throat choking him in the process. I looked him in the eyes as he slowly blacked out from lack of oxygen.

Dante~ Any last words?

Flash~ I'm glad… I stabbed your brother…

Twilight~ DANTE! STOP! PUT HIM DOWN PLEASE!

Dante~ After everything he's done he deserves to die.

Twilight~ No he doesn't… I know you hate him for what he did but killing him won't solve anything… that will go against everything you stand for. Not only that it won't make you any better than your mother.

Sunset~ AHHH!

Rainbow~ Please!

Rip~ Make it stop!

Twilight~ This isn't you Dante! The Dante I know would never hurt anyone for the hell of it. Please, stop… our friends can't take any more… my heart can't take any more...

Dante~...........

Twilight slowly walked up to me from behind and wrapped me in her arms.

Twilight~ if you kill him then you're hurting me… because I know you're not a killer. Please let him go… even if you could control it, it's not worth killing anyone…

I let go of Flash and gave him a mean look. My eyes were still as red roses but I was able to overcome my inner Rouge thanks to Twilight. Flash sat there slowly backing away from me. I grabbed him by his shirt and lifted him off the ground one again.

Dante~ This will be your last chance to change and to stay away from me, my friends and my Twi, Scram!

The second I let go off Flash he instantly ran away from the scene. I was able to fully calm down and return to my normal self. I looked around and watched my friends on the ground recovering from the massive amount of pain I caused. I felt cold and empty because I never wanted to hurt them, but now knowing that I can hurt anyone around me it made me wonder, how sinister is my inner Rouge? Everyone quickly recovered from their pain.

Sunset~ *sigh* woah… is everyone ok?

Rarity~ I think so? What in heaven happened here.

Twilight~ It's a long story… let's all get back to Sunset's place.

Rip~ We'll explain everything when we get there. Or at least try our best to explain.

Sunset~ Dante are you ok?

Dante~ let's just go…

We all left the mall, got in our vehicles and headed back to Sunset's house. An hour went by and we all made it back to the house. Sunset got out of her car, approached the front door and unlocked it for us to enter. We all get out of our vehicles and entered the house. Everyone decided to sit down in the living room to have our discussion about what happened today. I was the last one inside the house but I was really hesitant to walk into the room and be seen by everyone. It's not like I had a choice anyway I had to explain what happened today regardless of how I felt. I entered the living room and sat next to Twilight. Everyone stared at me for minutes.

Twilight~ So, you all want to ask one question and we know what that question is.

Rainbow~ Yeah we want to know what the hell happened.

Rip~ Rainbow!

Rainbow~ I think we all have a right to be at least a little upset. Not only I want to know what happened, I also want to know what that crippling pain was.

Sunset~ I felt it too, I felt like my insides were ripping itself.

Rarity~ I wasn't in pain but I was really light headed.

Fluttershy~ I was frightened for my life… I didn't know what it was but I was completely scared of Dante.

Applejack~ The bottom line is this doesn't happen everyday. Something was causing this and that something had to have come from Dante and we want to know what.
