Chapter 25 Trial and Error

When you believe that you have reached a dead end, it means you're willing to quit. But if you believe you can dig the path for yourself and make the road, it means you have hope left in you to do something with your life.

Volca was handling everything smoothly than she expected her to be, though she was a little afraid inside her heart to not mess up in the middle making sure she had set the oven time to the right duration and had right quantity of whipping cream.

"Is it done Hara?" Jiah asked Volca. "Some of my friends have promised to come and try it. Let's arrange a table in your balcony? How about it?" she kept asking for suggestions.

"That would be great, we can, wait keep a box incase they are paying," Volca said back.

"Ofocurse they are paying, this is a sale," Jiah told her.

Volca took the cakes from the over and started decorating then for the final touch. The cup cakes and muffins and mini cakes were ready.

"Is that choco truffle?" Jiah asked pointing to one if the mini cakes.

"Yes it is," Volca replied. "Want to taste?"

"No no," Jiah said. "It is all for business babe, not for us," she reminded Volca to not give them for free during sales. "Hara you do this, I will arrange the table to keep the cakes, let's start it 12 in the noon, until 4, and if we finish it before 6 in the evening, it's a victory, we will continue the same the next week,"

"Let's see," Volca said and took a deep breath. She did the final touch to the cakes and it was almost 12 at noon. Jiah reminded her to bring the cakes slowly except the choco truffle keeping only a few for display while storing the others in the refrigerator for it to not melt.

Together they beautifully arranged the wooden table with decorated cupcakes with colourful frost, blueberry and chocolate muffins and slices of choco truffle. There was a smile that flashed on Volca's face. Happy and proud of herself to be doing something she loves. She eagerly waited for people to come buy her cakes. Jiah had already hung a chart in front of the house about the homemade pasrty sale and she saw some people taking photographs too. But two hours passed and there were no sign of people climbing the stairs at all.

"Maybe it is our location that nobody is minding about. They can't see it if we do it upstairs probably," Jiah tried to console Volca with words who looked pretty tensed watching all the cakes carefully. "Let's have our lunch. I will bring them here," Jiah saidnand walked downstairs. Nanna came at the right time.

"How is the sale going?" She enquired and Volca shook her head. "It will be fine, don't worry, have the lunch now, don't spoil your health, " she adviced and offered to stay with the cakes in the balcony while Jiah and Volca had lunch. Jiah had made wonder meat balls curry and porridge for lunch. They had it slowly while Nanna hurried and called for help. Volca rusher out to see what happened to Nanna and saw that there were few customers standing on line to get cakes.

"Hello, sorry I was in there having lunch, how may I help you, which one do you want to try?" Volca asked. Jiah also hurried and stood next to Volca taking the paper bags she made herself to give away with cakes.

"That's blueberry muffin, why don't you try that," Jiah said and made the customers buy one of each varieties that has been kept for sale. She was really good at marketing. About five customers left home buying half the cakes put on display and her heart warmed as she saw the happiness blooming in Volca's face. Jiah felt happy for the young girl living with a terrible fate. "Half more to go, let's do this," she said and patted Volca's shoulders.

Around four five cup cakes were left in the end once the sales was over around 7 at night. Volca sat back on the chair stretching her legs.

"It went really well," Jiah said signing. "We did well, you did well, you did great," Joah kept appreciating Volca for her hard work. Volca learned the mistakes through her trail and decided to reduce the quantity for the sales so that she could save money. The left over cupcakes were had by Volca itself for dinner at night and Jiah had the leftover porridge she had at noon. They went to bed early that night feeling tired to sleep well before going to work at the botanical garden the next day. Monday blues really was a thing for everyone.
