Chapter 37 First Encounter

Jiah fell asleep faster than expected the moment Auran left the room and Volca waited for it. She sneaked out of the room and took the elevator going to the ground floor. She walked outside the hotel and searched for a nearby supermarket. She was really hungry.

The roads still had traffic even though it was past 11 at night. Volca was surprised to see that. She walked around for sometime enjoying the late night stroll in a new place. Then after covering around a kilometre, she found one store. She rushed towards the door and entered.

"Welcome, how may I help you?" the part time worker asked her.

"I will take them on my own," she said and walked through the aisles. She's skimmed through the instant food products and did not like any of them. Then she saw the oven. Some hot and crisp grilled sandwiches and hot dogs. She immediately recalled about the old conversation.

"There was a time us boys in the dormitory sneaked out to get some snacks after signing the attendance register at night, it was a funny day, we almost got caught by the warden but narrowly escaped because of girl who helped us hide. But the hotdog we got from the nearby supermarket, it tasted the best that night, probably because we were sneaking and snacking them, you should someday come to my university, you will love it,"

Volca smiled at her thought about the hotdog he described about. But she had no idea that it was from this same place he got them. Volca decided to have two hotdogs and asked the part timer to get her those. Then she took a bottle of water and unsealed them settling down on table at the back of the store that had a nice view to the road. There were couples walking by in the footpath. Volca sat there lost in thoughts. She could not believe that she has become a human. She waited for the hot dogs to arrive taking off the hoodie she had put on. She kept them beside her on the table and the hotdogs arrived at the right time, but it was four. She was surprised and looked up at the person who was delivering it.

"I.." she couldn't find any words to say.

"I see the dinner was not enough for you, I thought so," he said and took the stool next to her. He took a bite of the hotdog. "This store sells the best hotdog in this area," he said. And then she realised it was this he spoke about back then. She took a bite from hers and nodded her head.

"I agree," she said.

"What is the bird doing staying at my house?" asked suddenly and Volca choked on her food. She coughed. He stopped eating and laughed a little. He patted her head and passed her the bottle of water to drink.

"Bird?" she asked him couple of minutes later as she calmed down. 'Oh my god he remembers seeing my original perfume and I failed to erase his memory, what do i do now? What if he leaks my identity? I don't have my powers anymore' she talked inside her head as she sat there looking at his face waiting for his reply. 'Wait I don't have my powers, he cannot bully me and leak my identity, even if he does he cannot prove it hahahahaha chill baby,' Volca smiled and put an end to her thoughts.

"Yes, bird, bird with large black feathered wings like Maleficent," he said and shrugged. "I remember seeing them," Listening to him Volca fake laughed loudly. "Am not kidding," he said.

"Are you okay? I mean really, I don't have wings as you describe it, " she said looking around her. "I am not wearing any costume now,"

"Back in the woods too?" he asked her then, directly mentioning about the incident.

"Err... what?" she kept pretending.

"The day I went trekking on the mountain and then I found you and took you to the hospital, remember, that day, you appeared in front of me like a mutant," he said it all out.

"Well excuse me Auran," she hit the table and said his name for the first time. She then looked around to see if there were people looking at them and found nobody. "You," She pointed at him. "You went trekking alone, really? Are you sure about not being on drugs eating wild mushrooms or anything from the woods?" she asked seriously to turn the tables.

"Really? You mean that I must have been high that I imagined stuff ? But then how come I recognised you instantly? But he had forgotten about the sword that he forgot to mention about them.

"World is rotten these days and youngsters are into many things, maybe you could have done something too when you were alone," she kept repeating the same point.

"Enough, don't anger me," he said and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. He finished his hotdog and waited for her to finish hers, looking at her. She looked like a slow eater.

"What is that you want from us?" he asked her again..

"What is wrong with you?" she raised her voice.

"Why are you getting worked up with a simple conversation? It means there is something," Volca rolled her eyes as he spoke to her and stood up walking back to the cash counter and paid for her hotdog.

"She will pay mine too," Auran screamed from the back and took an extra bottle of water. Volca shook her head and paid for both and headed out walking towards the hotel's direction and he followed her.

"What? Don't come. Go back to your dorm," she ordered him feeling too silly He gave her a look and took few steps towards her. "What?" she asked again. She kept tolerating him for the sake of Jiah. She could not just avoid him nor scold him. He looked at her and locked each others eyes.
