Go out, get to know them.

The morning was abrupt and unsightly. The sun was shining ahead as bright and cheerful as ever, like what was happening in my life was nothing meaningful to it in any way or form.

Clear as day the sky was open for all to view, the birds freely flying without a care for the world beneath them.

I wish I was one of those birds. Just up and leave this world, fly high above in the clouds. That is a true dream.

*Beep, beep, beep!*

But that dream was not to come to pass.

Slamming my hand over the alarm that was an hour too late to wake me, I stretched out my arms for what felt like the millionth time.

I'd been up since early this morning and could barely fall back to sleep. My mind was plagued with the horror-filled thoughts of my three so-called brothers calling my father "pops".

Emphasis on "My father". As in he's mine, not yours.

*Knock, knock, knock!*

"Addison, are you up yet?"
