Theo

Samir was the kind of man you didn't want to be on the bad side of. He's strong, quick, sly, patient, and he can hold his grudges. All his grudges are held long term too since he was an Elder Vampire. I, more often than not, found myself on the receiving of his piercing red eyed glare. Today he was staring at me from behind the mahogany desk in his office.

"Teddy." He said folding his hands together.

The frown on my face was instant. I hated the childhood nickname. He had a right to use it though since he took me in after my family died.

"Why do you never listen to me?" asked Samir. If he was any other species I was sure he would have made an audible sigh.

"I've got daddy issues" I shrugged, "but, what Nephilim doesn't." It was a known fact that Jehain the god of freedom and biological father to all Nephilim was a hit it and quit it kind of man. The bastard never stuck around after conception. I don't even want to mention my so called 'Guardian Angel.'

His lips quirked, Samir always did like darker humor. Waving his hand at me he said "Enough of that. You're my ward which means I'm responsible for you."

He placed his hands on his desk. "Since you are unable to stick to your orders. I'm pulling you from the E.A. and placing you into the W.A. temporarily"

I bit my tongue to hold back my refute. I wasn't surprised that he was switching my Association's. Samir warned me twice already. After the second warning there was no more chances.

I once refused his orders only to find myself with a black eye and only female under ware in my dresser.

"For how long?" I asked.

Samir leaned back in his chair. "For however long it takes me to fully heal."

I took a step forward surprised "you're injured! Do you need any of my blood?" Nephilim blood was remarkable for healing vampires. It had to be given freely though since we outmatched them in strength. My eyes scanned for any sign of discomfort but, it was difficult to tell with vampires when they weren't having extreme emotions. Even with all the years I've spent with Sam it was still hard to get a good read on him. The aura he had was pale white nothingness unless he was furious.

Sam smiled at my concern. "I'm fine. I'm fine. I've already took a bag from the supply you've made me."

I narrowed my eyes at him. I've found out he lied a few times. Telling me he wanted to save it for when he or someone else was really hurt.

"I'll be sure to check the stash then."

Samir just nodded and waved me off as if to say go ahead. The walk down to the vampire's den where the hunter's with two fangs store their blood preferences was quick.

I pushed open the black doors into the den. The temperature immediately dropped. My skin prickled from the use of mana stones. Cain sat at the reception desk as usual. He used to be a hunter until he lost a leg about a decade back. Now he maned the desk and maintained the blood for the vampire's.

Here to check on ur pa's stash again Theo?" asked Cain.

"He's not my pa." I frowned.

Cain shook his head as he wobbled over to Sam's box.

"I'm sure he would be delighted if you called him that."

My hand trembled at the idea. The last man I called dad sold my lung to an underground doctor. It was hard to breath for awhile at least until my lung grew back.

"Hmm. There appears to be quit less than I remembered. There's only three jars left."

I grabbed onto Cain yanking him out of the way so I could get a look.

"Hey! One leg remember!"

I leaned over the box to check the contents. Just last week there was eleven jars. As an Elder Sam only needs to feed once a month. What kind of injury did he sustain that he needed so much blood.

My hands clenched at the side of the box as I stared at the remaining three jars. I was this close to losing another person and I didn't even realize it. I slammed it shut letting the glass jars clank together.

"Ey' now! Careful."

I brushed my hair out of my one good eye as I stared at the ceiling. Why didn't he tell me? I could of helped him? With a trembling hand I turned away from the den and made my way to my room. I should go clean my gun.
