"Aww, will you look at that. That good for nothing twerp hottie left class." Carlita's voice rang like the annoying school bell.
"OMG! He like is such a loser!"
"I know right!"
"IKR!"
I grit my teeth. What is with these people? And what is with me? Don't tell me I'm actually getting sensitive for the guy. No thanks.
"OMG! Like OH EM GEE!"
"What Raina?!" Carlita got annoyed by her 'OMG' line. "Why is your name even 'Raina' anyway!?"
I started walking back to my desk. A group of boys and girls started crowding them. They probably knew a fight was going to happen.
"OMG you really want to know?" Raina ran her hands through her dirty short brown hair.
"I asked, didn't I?!"
Students started shouting things.
"Who even names their kid, Raina?!" one of her friends joined in.
"You are so over loud." Another friend of her scoffed and whipped her hair.
"Oh, look you are about to get it." The last of the five chuckled.
"That's right." Carlita finally spoke up and stepped closer to Raina with her fist.
I widened my eyes.
"GET HER!" People started shouting.
Holy mother of fish. I just gaped as Raina backed away.
"OMG my mom wanted something to remind her of her and my dads happiness." Raina was struggling to let go of her annoying catchphrase.
"I DON'T CARE!" Carlita shouted.
"So when my mom was told she didn't have many years left to live due to her cancer-" Raina gasped as Carlita shoved her into a wall. I had to admire the girl for her confidence when she kept it together and continued talking. "She told my dad all that in the rain and also told my dad she was pregnant and all that in the rain. So my dad named me Raina. Since...my mom...died..."
I felt myself let out a gasp after Raina told her story.
I heard a laughing sound, but it wasn't coming from the others. No it was coming from Carlita herself.
"Aww that's so sweet, get lost freak, nobody cares for you." Carlita smirked as she held her fist in front of Raina's face.
"No Carlita please! We were friends since Freshman! You can't do this! OMG you can't!" Raina flinched and used her hands to dodge the attack.
"Oh really? Friends? With you? Not even in your dreams." Raina started sobbing. Carlita stepped back and Raina ran off crying.
I felt anger rush through me. Just control yourself Mira! This is none of your business. I took a deep breath and watched as Raina ran out of the classroom. Carlita walked forwards again, the rest of the class speechless. Next, she walked up to Angel and grabbed the sketch book out of her grip while the others was still watching.
"What the hell!" She screeched. "You didn't draw anything since I last came."
That's when Carlita spotted a book on her desk.
"Really, you were rather doing homework than doing your job!" She slammed her hand down on Angel's desk. "How dare you!"
Angel looked away, her hair covering her face.
"Let's see. " She grabbed Angel's textbook and walked away. "You won't get it back until you finished my drawings!" Carlita yelled back at her.
The class just stared at her and everything.
Angel sniffled softly, so only I could hear her and she took the sketch book and her bag and ran out of the class.
I got chills in this room and I need to get out here fast.
I started packing up and sneaked towards the door but just as I was about to turn the door, someone grabbed my wrist.
"And where do you think you're going."
My heart stopped. It literally stopped. I felt the grasp around my hand tighten. I gasped as I spun around slowly. My breath suddenly gone with my heartbeat.
I felt like a literal zombie. Thankfully all that changed when I saw the face of a friendly girl looking back at me. Oh thank goodness. I placed a hand on my heart and felt its beat slowly coming back.
"What do you think you are doing." She whisper-yelled. What bugged me most was she wasn't speaking in her accent.
She smiled and started pulling me quickly away from the door and towards the closest wall where her desk was. The desk in front of her empty. So I sat there. She quickly glanced at the opposite side of the class.
"You're lucky. They didn't notice you...if they did...you'd be dead meat." She informed me.
I stuttered a little. "Y-You scared m-me."
She giggled. "Oh that. Yeah it was fun to scare you." She waved her hand. I just laughed nervously.
She started speaking in her French accent again. "You should know. If Carlita spotted you, you would be in more trouble than moi can put you in."
"What is with her and Raina anyway?" I questioned.
She glanced back at Carlita.
"She-she-she." She spoke but couldn't find it right to go further.
"Falery...what happened...and why do you know so much?"
She gasped and looked away from my gaze. "I do not speak of such things."
"Just tell me!" I protested
"Alright listen...there is only 5 more minutes left of class...so moi will tell you everything..." She spoke slowly and carefully. "It was in fresh man year that moi and the rest arrived."
"Wait you aren't an exchange student?"
"No when moi was 14 my parents and moi moved to this place. It was fresh man year for me but I grew up in France."
"I can tell." I nodded my head
"Carlita she used to be so nice."
"She was actually nice?!"
"Yes, she and Raina became best friends, but now, she is using Raina as her dog, just because she is poor."
"Why is Raina so over loud?"
"She just tries to fit in, she doesn't get a lot of attention from her father since he has to work all the time now. They went into dept. Raina acts like she knows more, but she doesn't."
"Oh."
"Mira...can moi ask one question?"
"Oui!" I giggled.
She smiled. "Do you also have a bad past?"
"No- I just have a normal life I guess." I lied and avoided any eye contact.
"Oh okay I guess." She looked down.
Wait why didn't she use her accent?
"Falery? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." She smiled.
What a fake broken smile.
That's when the bell rang and announcements came on but I just ignored them.
"Moi must go." She spoke as the announcements finished.
What are you hiding?
Isn't that what everyone thinks of you? How ironic Mira.
Before I could stop her, she ran off for break.
Just as I exited the class and walked in the long corridor, I couldn't help but feel like my destiny is finally starting. Once again, I felt like fate brought me here for a reason.
First, I found my locker. It is unbelievable how no one did any trouble to hang with me or even show me around. It's not fair, is it? Anyway. I'm not here to moan and complain all the time. No, I'm just here to put my bag inside and take my lunch bag out. So now I was only walking around with my lunch bag. I checked the time on my watch. Oh great, not even a minute passed yet. I sighed and banged my head against my locker. That earned me some weird looks from passing students.
My feet was frozen in place. Where do I even go? I exhaled and walked towards the cafeteria. Taking a deep breath, I followed the other students inside. My plan? Find people I know. Pretty easy, right? As usual bench tables were everywhere. Students were each doing their own thing.
I took another big breath and pinched myself once. Okay, let's do this. I scanned my eyes around but when my eyes fell on an almost empty table, I immediately recognized who it was. Angel and her sketchbook. It was strange how she had the bench-table all to herself. I shrugged it off and sat next to her. She was sitting on the head, while I was sitting on the side.
"Hey." I spoke softly to her while she was drawing.
As soon as she saw me, she stopped drawing and dropped her pencil. Looking back at me with wide eyes, she mumbled something.
"What? I didn't hear."
"You shouldn't be here." Came her soft reply. After that she looked around warily. "Just go. Its not safe here." She mumbled in her soft angelic voice again.
"Why though?" I smiled.
She pointed in front of her. I looked where she was pointing. Carlita. With a bunch of people sitting with her. But that wasn't what surprised me most. No, it was Raina that was sitting next to her, laughing? I thought they had a fight?
"You mean Carlita?" I bit my lip.
She gasped and shushed me with her finger. "Shhhh."
For the first time I noticed how huge the cafeteria actually was. Angel continued drawing.
"Can I ask you a question." I coughed awkwardly.
"Yes." Her voice was below a whisper.
"What's your name?"
She gasped as she looked up."I-Its Kera, w-why?"
I smiled and rubbed the back of my head. "I was getting tired of calling you Angel."
She let a soft chuckle escape her lips and went back to drawing. "Thanks." She blushed.
I laughed nervously.
"You have a pretty name, Mira." She spoke softly.
"Thanks." I grinned.
She gasped as she connected eye contact with someone. It was Carlita. Sendingher a glare, barely noticing me.
"Are you okay?" She ignored me this time and kept drawing.
"Kera?"
"Shhh. Mira. I need to finish this. Carlita doesn't joke around- unlike you."
"Oh sorry?" I said, a little bit hurt by her words.
Kera's phone vibrated on the table which made her pick it up. She unlocked her phone and gasped, covering her mouth.
"Is that important?" I asked, tilting my head.
"Oh my god." She cried as she looked at the screen.
"Its happening." She whimpered.
I raised a brow. "What's happening?"
She shoved the phone in my face, but I couldn't see it was too blurry.
"I can't see." I bit my lip.
She sighed and just pressed another button on her screen. "Here."
But before I could even look at the screen a loud cry caught my attention
.
"CORGI!"
I bit my lip and placed the phone down, without looking at the picture and let my curiosity get the best of me.
A blond haired girl stormed in through the doors, her hair appeared to be cut uneven and out of proportion. Shoulder length. Her hair was soaked on one side and the rest of her strands was all over the place. Some of her hair, longer at one side. A piece of her red top was torn which left her stomach bare while the rest of her clothes was damp. Her feet left behind water marks as she ran to the back of the cafeteria.
I looked back at Kera to see her gaping at her phone while she tried to draw at the same time. I leaned over to see comments stream down her screen. The things people were saying, made me disgusted. I got up and rushed over the spot everyone was crowding. The whole cafeteria suddenly went dead silent as if everyone wanted to hear.
"Corgi!" I heard the girl sobbing.
I bit my lip and pressed through, to see better.
"Hey bunny, what happened?" I didn't pay attention to the jaw dropping good-looking guy who I heard and saw and directed my attention to the girl instead.
"Corgi! We can't be together anymore! I mean I love you! But I can't deal with this anymore!" I heard her sob, it almost brought tears to my eyes.
"Bunny?" Whoever Corgi's voice rang- the concern in his voice was fake.
"Look at it!" She sobbed and showed him her phone.
Suddenly laughter hollowed through the crowd.
"Oh I see, it looks priceless." He answered
"HOW COULD YOU CORGI! I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME! WHAT ABOUT EVERYTHING YOU SAID!" She cried.
I bit my lip as a tear formed in my eye.
"I could never love someone so pathetic." He chuckled.
"YOU KNOW IT'S ABOUT MORE THAN THAT!" She cried.
"Oh sweetie, your hair looks terrible. Oh, and my bunny. I didn't want to do this but...Its over." He spoke, a sick smirk on his lips.
"BUT CORGI!!!"
"You were cute while it lasted."
"CUTE?! IS THAT WHAT YOU THOUGHT OF ME."
"Get lost. I never want to see you again." He growled.
"But-but-but." She sobbed.
"Get out of my sight!" He kept growling.
"Now!!"
Wow. Okay wait what. He went from evil to aggressive.
I saw the girl run out like fire was chasing her. When she was out of sight, I walked back to the table.
"What just happened?"
"Do you really want to know?" Kera's voice sounded much harsher than I expected.
I nodded my head and Kera shoved her phone into my face.
My eyes widened. No way! This time it wasn't blurry at all. I could see everything. Just after staring at it for 5 seconds. I started getting sick to stomach.
Kera sighed and took the phone from me.
"Know what?! Screw Carlita. I can't keep drawing after what I just saw! I just can't!" Kera finally threw the sketch book away from her.
I just stared at the table. "I can't believe it."
Kera laughed. "When you are in this school. You get used to it."
"Oh gross." I started to barf.
"Maybe you should visit the bathroom just in case." She chuckled.
I shook my head. "I'm so queasy I can't even move."
"Oh poor girl." She patted my back.
"Who was that girl and that guy? I mean you know the one with the-"
"The killer sexy voice of a god?" Kera smirked mockingly at me.
"Just the biggest player, more like disaster this school ever met."
"WHAT?!" I wasn't nauseous anymore.
"Yep. The guy who took almost every girl's V-card in this school."
"That's disgusting..."
"Yes, not only that. It's not the first broken heart. Then there is his fangirls. Which consists of all his exes."
"You mean one night stands?" I coughed.
"Yes. That too..."
"And the other girl who looked like she was attacked by a pack of wolves?" I bit my lip.
"His one-month girl-friend."
"This Corgi guy, I think. What is so good about him?" I questioned.
"What do you think?" She smirked back at me.
Suddenly Kera's phone vibrated again, along with all the other students' phones.
"Oh no. The comments. They are horrible." She bit her lip.
"Can it even be worse?" I questioned as I tried to see what they wrote.
"Listen to this."
I nodded my head and listened up.
"Oh wow. So, he got her last night. Right. I knew she was going to give in to him soon. We all been there. Well most of us. Just how could she be so stupid. She was like never even popular. He made her. She owes him that. What an excuse of a human being."
I bit my lip after Kera read the reply.
"That's who is she to say anything- she is the same!" I just lost control.
"Mira calm down. This is normal."
I growled and slammed my fist down onto the table. "Not to me." I widened my eyes at the dark tone in my voice. I grabbed my lunch bag and ran off.
I ran off towards the bathroom, I needed some water on my face.
When I opened the door and heard familiar sobs, I knew exactly who it was. There she sat against the wall. Her knees tucked in and her arms around them. She was only sobbing not even breathing. A girl with her friend next to me, scoffed and pointed at her. They were both washing their hands.
"Just look at her! So disgusting."
"Totes."
"Let's get out of here. I'm tired of looking at her."
"Me too."
Taking a deep breath, I crouched down in front of her.
"Just go away!" She sobbed and kept covering her face.
"I'm sorry, what?" I bit my lip.
She pushed me so I fell on my butt in front of her. "I don't care who sent you! Just go away. Corgi meant everything to me!"
"No one sent me."
"Stop playing dumb! I know you! All of you! You think you can get away with everything."
I grabbed her by her shoulders. "Look at me." I spoke clearly.
"No!" She yelled.
I sighed and tilted her chin so I could see her blood red blue eyes. It was swollen from all the crying.
"I'm Mira." I spoke slowly.
"I'm Orica. But you know that already so stop playing with me! Just beat me up and LEAVE ME ALONE."
"I will not harm you." I took her hands and smiled at her as she was forced to look at me.
"I gave mine to him. It meant everything to me. But I thought it would make him look at me with eyes that was filled with...love." she mumbled as she begged my eyes for help.
I shook my head. "Sex...is never love."
She looked back up at me, and I only seemed to notice that she stopped crying.
"I know that now..." She sighed sadly.
"It's too late now. Now everyone thinks I'm a slut or a hoe or even a whore." She spoke without sobbing, her voice still coarse.
"The picture-" I spoke up but she cut me off, angrily.
"ITS FAKE! PHOTO-SHOPPED!"
"How about- what happened to your hair?"
"Does it look that bad?" She looked sadly back at me.
"What happened?"
"Jealous girls, we know them by fan-girls. They got hold of me, in English. I was sneaking out to go meet up with Corgi."
"Instead they dragged me towards the bathroom. Beat me up, not leaving marks. But just bruises." She showed me her bruises.
"Then it wasn't enough. They cut off my long blond hair, that was tied in a longish ponytail. So now I only have short hair."
"And then. It was not enough. They also threw toilet water over me."
"Little did I know, Corgi was planning to get rid of me to."
"One of the leaders pressed my head into the toilet and flushed it."
I felt myself get even sicker from before, how disgusting.
"Now the whole school hates me."
"I don't hate you." I smiled and pulled her up by her hands.
She didn't look that bad in my opinion.
"What happened to your shoes?"
She smiled sadly and responded to an answer that broke my heart. "It was the very same shoes, Corgi gave me for my birthday. That was burned in front of my very eyes. I wore them almost every day." She smiled sadly.
I couldn't help myself, I just broke and pulled her into my hold.
"It's okay. Just let it out." I whispered softly.
She hugged back for a second. "Thank you but I don't think I can cry anymore."
"Thank you. No one ever hugged me like I was their friend before. They all were just fake."
I smiled back.
"Let's go back to the Cafeteria." I pulled away.
"But I-"
"You look fine." I assured.
"Corgi always used to call me his bunny."
I smiled sadly, poor heartbroken girl.
"Orica." I sighed and grabbed her hand. "No matter how bad you look in others' eyes... What matters is keeping your head up and never letting them see you down. Show them you are better than them.".
Just as we exited the bathroom, Orica stepped in front of me.
"One question?" I nodded my head at her request.
"Who are you?"
I bit my lip as a million memories flashed past my eyes.
Who am I really?
