Chapter 5

"Coral Cameroon. Sluvashki." He stared me down as his gorgeous, yet intimidating voice spoke up once again.

"I know your name." I looked away and sat down.

His light brown, almost golden, hair stood out perfectly and covered his ears. His forehead was cut clean and there was no hair, though he had a crest at the top of his forehead, starting by his roots. Framing his face was one pair of elegant brown framed glasses. His eyes were a rich brown which I felt staring through my soul.

I heard a movement shift beside me. Lance reaches out for me and attempted to hold my hand, but on instinct I pulled my hand away immediately.

"You need to learn to shut your mouth." Coral scoffed.

"I'll state my opinion whenever I want to." I spun around and glared at him.

"But it will cost you more than you know." He smirked evilly. "Don't think you get some pardon for yourself just because you're new."

Who does this guy think he is?!

I decided to ignore him as Mrs. Wacky cleared her throat.

"Alright. That's enough."

"Now let's start some revising."

The whole class groaned.

"Relax." Mrs. Wacky chuckled.

Mrs. Wacky gave us a math quiz, but I finished mine first and got full marks. The rest of the lesson to say the truth was pretty boring, nothing to do. It was only when Lance finished and handed in his paper, that I thought I might not be bored anymore. However, that changed as Lance walked to the back, to greet some of his guy friends. I saw him sit there like it was the seat he was assigned to the whole lesson. It was as if I did not even exist. I did not know how to feel or how to react. Soon enough, I felt a hand place on my shoulder, and I spun around hoping it was Lance, but it was not. It was Coral.

"C-Coral." I stuttered; he was the last person I expected would talk to me.

"Didn't expect me huh?" Those five words sent chills throughout my spine, just like his touch did.

"Huh?" my mouth was dry for some reason; it was as if something stole the air in my lungs.

I felt like I was at lost for words for my attention was up in the clouds as if his voice were holding me hostage,

He shook his head and sat in Lance's seat next to me, offering me some space.

"Careful Mira, no one here is who they seem. Lance isn't your friend." He took me off guard as he tugged at my braid. I yelped in embarrassment and felt my face heat up.

"Not the type to talk behind someone is, back are you? Everyone needs a loyal friend like you. Too bad Lance isn't the best candidate." That evil smile was enchanting as it lured my consciousness away.

I slowly felt more heat rise to my cheeks as our eyes connected.

"You know nothing about me." I bit my lip, trying to fight the effect his eyes had on me.

He bit his lip in response and leaned closer to me. I found myself staring at his lips. The way they moved and how firm they looked, made my head spin. He smiled and pushed a loose strand of mine out of my face and behind my ear. His teeth were like a mirror that if you stare too much, you will become obsessed with what you think you find beautiful. I found myself gulping. He took his chance to stroke his hand against my cheek and pulled away before I could react.

"So soft." He whispered gently.

I started looking down. What is going on. Why do I feel as if chemical electrostatic fields are pulling me towards his? I looked up to see him smirking at me and all of a sudden, the deceiving colors around me faded as I snapped back to reality.

"You bastard!" Lance grabbed Coral by his black shirt and dragged him away from me. "Whatever crap did you tell her?"

Coral only chuckled in response, angering the other brunet immensely.

"Bye." Coral whispered at me and walked away.

Lance took his seat again and scooted closer to me.

"What crap has he done this time?"

I sighed and looked back at Lance. I did not know who to trust anymore...

"Why do you want to know?" I laid down on my arms, my head was spinning.

"I saw what he did but I wanted to hear it from your perspective."

I shrugged and studied his concerned face. His soft light brown hair and dark deep brown eyes made him look so angelic on the outside but as always, I cannot trust anyone nor can I let them in.

"Who is he?" I mumbled to myself, ignoring his question completely.

Of course, as always, the school bell had to ring at the worst time.

"I'll tell you at lunch break yeah?" Lance said at the same the bell rang so I did not hear his words completely.

"Sure." I whispered as he got up and left the classroom.

English was next on my schedule. Lance and I parted, saying a quick 'see you soon' to each other. I knew he was lying; he has got other friends. Coral is right. I cannot trust anyone.

When I entered the English classroom, I took a seat third from the front, in the middle. I sat there waiting for more people to enter. So far, I saw no one I recognized yet. A quiet, good postured girl entered the room. I am a very observant girl, so I know people before I get to know them. I kept my eyes on her as she carried a big sketch book in her hands. She had beautiful, soft, milk chocolate brown, wavy and curly hair that reached her mid back, perfectly. Some of her hair fell in her face as she sat down, a seat next to me but in front of me. I kept staring at the sketchbook on her table, just when I was about to reach over and get her attention- five noisy students entered. One was a girl with an overdressed outfit. In my opinion it was too fancy for school. Her outfit was beautiful but the her make up spoiled everything. She had dyed hair obviously. I could see her roots was different colors. Right now, it was colored pitch black with purple highlights. She had her phone in her hand and was texting while she spoke to her friends.

"OMG I'm telling you now. My brother had to knock the literal dung out of the shithead!"

"Why?" One of her friends asked as she bit her long nails.

"No apparently the bastard, was after my dad's cache."

Wow. I widened my eyes at the fact that such a low-class girl actually knew that word. That is when I noticed she was chewing bubblegum open-mouthed too. Ewww.

"OMG! Did he kiss you?!" One of her annoying friends chirped like a girl who was on her period while being on crack.

"Totally. He was such a good kisser though. Maybe that's why both dad and my bro beat him to death." She shrugged and I widened my eyes.

"Hey Carlita!" Another one of her friends spoke.

"What?!" Carlita, who is name I learned, screeched like a cockroach and I had to cover my ears slightly.

"What do you think of Avery Note?"

She snorts laughed. "Why would he even be on my mind? Everyone knows he's a loser and idiot." She giggled suddenly and the others just stared at her like she was crazy.

"But." She wiggled her finger.

"He is ONE DAMN HOT GUY!"

"RIGHT ON!" All of them high fived at once.

I rolled my eyes and looked back at the other girl in front of me. Only to find her drawing what looked like fashion or some kind of drawing.

Carlita and her gang suddenly stalked towards her.

"Let me see!" She commanded.

The girl just nodded her head and handed it over to her. Carlita's friends crowded around her, to see the drawings too. I saw the girl with her head hanging, her hair hanging down her face, covering it.

"OMG! CARLITA!! YOU GOTTA SHOW MORE SKIN!" One of her friends screeched as she looked at the drawing.

Umm okay??

She scoffed and threw the book back at the girl's head.

"Change it. You heard Raina. I need to show more skin."

The girl just nodded her head and Carlita and her gang just walked towards the back. They chose the seats at the back and sat next to each other. I looked back at the girl to see her drawing again. I squinted my eyes to see better. She was an amazingly good drawer! Wow! I grinned in excitement, but that grin was wiped off my face as soon as he walked into the room.

There he stood, the player of the lesson and the guy who caused to be a pain. I remembered him from home room. No doubt about it. His hair gave it all away. Such a hypocrite for insulting my hair.

Robert Olson.

He mischievously smiled at me as he walked past me and walked over to his seat to sit with his friend. He turned back once more, knowing my eyes was on him and flashed me a sly smile and smirk. I directed my face downwards and glared at the desk underneath of me.

"Hey Roberto Buddy! Over here!" I heard a guy shouting.

I rolled my eyes as I heard the girls start talking behind me.

"Look it's Robbie!"

"The only."

"I heard he got in with the popular kids in our break. Which means he is one of T.H.E.M. now."

"What, for real?"

"Haven't you heard?"

"Heard what?"

"It's a rumor going around about his sister, I heard she got kidnapped..."

"WHAT?! No way!"

"Unbelievable."

"Poor guy, he must miss her dearly."

"So what? I do not care about that. He is still a jerk and one of THEM. I won't ever forget where that got me."

"Oh yes, that was a horrible experience."

I rolled my eyes. I hope the rumors were not true.

Suddenly all the chatting stopped as our English teacher entered. She had short brown hair and wore a pair of fancy white glasses on her nose.

"Bonjour. My fellow familiar faces."

Wait what?!

"Bonjour." The class saluted.

I just fell in.

"Alright. For those of you did not have me as your English or French teacher last year, I also teach French, but I'm perfectly fluent with both."

Of course, I had to get an English teacher that's French speaking. Her accent was very notable.

"But before we begin...I need to know." She pressed her hands together.

"Are there any new students to the school?"

She scanned her eyes around the class, and no one seemed to raise their hand. I just kept gritting my teeth, looking down.

"Oh, no-one I see-"

I gasped as the voice of the devil himself spoke up.

"Actually. Mademoiselle." His mocking voice echoed.

"There is a new student, and to this school and city too."

"Really who Robbie?"

Great. Teacher's pet.

I kept my head down on the table as he pointed over at me "Right over there."

Everyone's eyes were now fixed on me. And I felt that same feeling. Wishing the air were going to suck me in. Last thing I want to do is give a lame introduction.

"Oh, my goodness! We have an exchange student! How exiting! Don't you think."

I slowly lifted my head and glared back at the blonde as I noticed everyone's attention on me.

"I am not an exchange student."

The teacher smiled and nodded. "Let me introduce myself. I am Mrs. Diana Jones."

"But you can call me Mrs. Diana or Mrs. Jones."

I kept quiet.

"Now...Please come forward."

I groaned mentally and a huge migraine was forming in my forehead.

"So where are you from." She asked as I went up to the front.

"Washington." I spoke tone less like a zombie, glaring the crap off the guy whose fault all this is.

"Oh goodie. That's where me and my lover met each other."

I ignored her still. The blonde's sly smile seemed to widen as I glared at him.

"Well, instead of talking about yourself, tell us about what you think of this school." Mrs. Jones thought for a minute.

"Yes, tell us in a short story or poetry."

I used to be good with both so why not. I closed my eyes and faced the class. After taking a deep breath, I started talking.

"The walls are light

The floors are bright

My eyes were almost blind

From all the drama in my mind

I see them walk

I see them run

On every corner

I see them too

A very new clue."

I bowed and the class applauded, and I walked back to my desk, only to notice the girl with the beautiful milk chocolate brown hair, looking up at me. Her hand shaking as she looked back at me. She gave me a welcoming smile. I returned it. She stopped drawing to look back at me while I was making up my poem and it gave me an opportunity to discover her pretty sea blue eyes.

Carlita threw a paper ball at her and whispered loudly. "Keep! Drawing my dress."

Not to be asked twice, the girl ignored me and continued drawing.

I shook my head as I sat down.

"That was really done good dear. What is your name? I'm interested to know since I'm too lazy to look." Mrs. Jones asked.

"Mira Sluvashki." I sighed afterwards.

"Welcome to Victoria High. You will love it here."

I nodded my head.

"Alright my dearies. I didn't get much sleep last night so..."

The entire class groaned. I was confused why, so I asked the girl who sat behind me.

"Oh, no you'll see soon. Don't worry, you'll get used to it soon."

"Everyone do pages 1 to 100. I know it is a lot of work. but as I told you. You just have to finish it by next week." Mrs. Jones said as she handed out our textbooks.

I rolled my eyes. Great, a lay-back.

The whole class started working and I looked back to see the girl drawing through the lesson, to have stopped when she was assigned the task. Once again, I finished halfway through the lesson while everyone was still busy.

A loud snore echoed throughout the classroom.

"Quick guys! It is party time! She is asleep."

I saw the girl, ugh, I really want to nick name her. Let us think. Angel.

Anyway, Angel started drawing on the sketchbook again as soon as the snore echoed. The class was erupting with laughter.

"Quick Take her outside!"

I widened my eyes as people picked the teacher up and carried her outside into the corridor.

"What do we say to her if she wakes up?"

"That she sleepwalked."

"She sleepwalks?!"

"Hell, yes she does. Remember last time."

"Of course, ya."

"AWESOME!"

Then they closed the door, and everybody did what they wanted to. I just watched in astonishment.

Carlita and her gang stalked towards Angel again.

"Let me see. Better I guess."

"OMG! Carlita. The dress is way toooooooo looooong." Raina complained.

I just face desked. And how much did that even hurt...

"Yeah. But it is a formal occasion. My dad won't let me walk around with a shorter dress." Carlita answered a little annoyed.

"OMG. Your dad totally suck."

Carlita glared at Raina.

"IK that. Who cares? It's not your party."

I widened my eyes as Carlita stepped closer to Raina. Angel started shaking. She has not spoken ever since.

"Hey Carlita. Little miss perfect here is shaking." One of her friends started reporting.

"Aww. Do not worry. I will not hit you. Just keep designing my clothes or I will. My personal designer still has to make the lot." Carlita responded and directed her attention back at Angel.

They walked away as she continued drawing.

I sighed and turned my attention towards the back of the classroom. A snort made its way out of my nose and I laughed, he was sitting there all and actually working. After a while he felt my eyes on him and beckoned me forward. I quickly looked at away, knowing that his gaze was burning through my back.

A girl slapped me on the back, which made me gasp.

"Sorry, I just had to give this to you casually." She whispered as she handed me a note.

Gee, thanks, that was really casual.

I opened the note, widening my eyes at the name at the bottom.

"Robert Olson."

I rolled my eyes and started reading.

"So far I caused you trouble. It's just so fun to tease you."

Gee, thanks. I 'love' you too.

"But I ask for you to not hold it against me. See I know you do not want to look at me. It is just most of us are jealous of your hair. We do not hold it against you. We just want to attract your attention. Oh, and by the way. Your hair is really beautiful."

My heart started beating faster and heat rushed to my cheeks. I continued reading knowing, he was having the time of his life watching me react to his 'note'.

"Your blush is cute you know." I just rolled my eyes. Typical.

"I don't want to be enemies I just want to be friends. You will not bite my head, off, will you? You look like the type that will actually bite." I let a chuckle escape my lips. What a joker.

"Your laugh is adorable...yeah I know I sound like a creep...but I know I can get you by writing to you."

I rolled my eyes. This guy has got to be one of the player kings.

"I got to say. You are good with poetry. Me too. Here, I'll prove it."

I felt myself choke on my own spit. He can write?! What?!

"My dear soul

Is nothing compared to yours

You are shallow

I am deep

We are different

We all hide our secrets

In our own frequents

I am sorry if I hurt you

But I am just me

I hope you try to do me no harm."

"Just want to say. Let us talk."

I rolled my eyes at the next line.

"I already miss you. ;)"

I closed the note and saw him smiling back at me which made me roll my eyes. I got up and went to sit in the empty desk in front of him next to the wall and windows.

"What do you really want from me?" I asked as I turned around in my seat.

He chuckled as he was playing with his fingers on his desk.

"What makes you think that I have such intentions? I just can't stop looking at your beautiful face." He also winked.

I just rolled my eyes which went noticed by him.

"Oh please. Leave that line for when you actually date me." I scoffed.

He looked shocked back at me.

"No girl ever said that to me before." He spoke slowly.

I sighed. "Just get with it. Why did you even call me here?"

He got snapped out of his thoughts.

"You know, you're smart and I need help with..."

"Oh brother." I sighed. "Which page?"

"Page 22."

I decided to help him out a bit.

"Of course. Sorry I'm such an idiot."

"Hey, you're not that bad." I smiled reassuringly.

"Thing is, I'm not in my academics zone anymore. I can't even concentrate on anything else anymore."

I bit my lip. "Roberto?"

He looked back up at me.

"Yes?"

"I'm sorry but...is the rumor going around true?"

"Which one?" He raised an eyebrow at me.

"The one about your sister." The minute I said that he dropped his pencil.

"Yes. Yes, it is." He sighed and ran a hand through his hair.

"I'm so-" I started but he cut me off and startled me.

"Save it!" He suddenly yelled.

I bit my lip hard.

"Don't you dare say you're sorry. You all do not care. I do not want to talk about it okay! And to think you were actually different-" he took his things and stormed out of the class. I just looked down at my hands.

"Maybe, you don't know my pain- but I know your pain." I whispered to myself.
